The device icon and text missing in the imaging devices Manager

    I'm running MS Vista Ultimate.

The imaging device icon and the wording are missing in Device Manager are missing. A device is listed in the box as installed missing icon.

The other devices in Device Manager normally appear and I can compare what is supposed to be there for another computer running the same version of windows.

However, the device will not work and will not reinstall.

When you try to reinstall the device an error indicates that Setup does not work and to contact the manufacturer of the device.

Yet once, however, this happens when I try to install any imaging device.

I'm unable to locate information about the imaging devices in the registry.

I think that some registry entries are missing.

It is not the missing peripheral individual. This is the section in Device Manager.

    The image error is logged:

    Hi henrymullersr

What imaging device do you use?

We can try a few steps and check if it helps you.

Try to run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

If the result of the Troubleshoot utility is negative, then reinstall the device. And also be sure to uninstall the previous contents of the device driver by running utility windows install cleanup:

    Now follow the following steps:

    1. Save the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package on your computer

    2. right click on the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and run as administrator

    3. follow you prompt in the installation wizard. Once completed the installation, click on the Start button

    4. click on all programs. Click on Windows Install CleanUp Utility.

    5. click on the device driver (if on list) in the list of programs.

    6. click on Remove. Click OK

    7. click exit

Restart the computer for the changes to take effect

Then try to install the device driver and check the result: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Install-a-USB-device

  • My sent mail is missing in the folder, how to recover?

    Original title: Mail sent

This morning, I noticed that a lot of my sent mail is missing from the folder. I checked my settings and they seem OK. I sent many emails this morning and only is in my sent mail. How can I get that back because it is important that I keep all my sent mail.

I have this problem in windows Live Mail with Windows 7.  My client used to keep copies of emails sent as planned, but suddenly he stopped.

There was a setting I changed on my iPhone to solve another problem.  IOS Advanced E-mail settings they had put the IMAP path prefix to Inbox. Which could affect how Live Mail deals with copies of emails sent? (Everything works fine)

    Hi David,

You will not get notification by e-mail on the taskbar when you use the Hotmail account. The new indication that 'you have mail' in Hotmail is that you will see one (1) next to the Hotmail tab in your browser. If you have an email, you should see Hotmail (1) on the browser tab.

  • 3 and a half months of e-mail is missing from my Inbox. Where would he go?

    original title: lack of emails

3 1/2 months of incoming messages have disappeared from my mail.  How can I reinstate them?

Now that we know it is Outlook Express...

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    Why mail disappears:

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspx

    And see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • MS Windows Mail sometimes missing emails

For months I've been suspecting my hosting provider filter incoming messages too strongly because every now and then I know that some people mail me reached me not. He could have a lot more that I'm not aware of but an important mail (concerning employment applications) just never occurred to me, I discovered when I called shippers.

Now I'm starting to believe my hosting provider is fine, but something goes wrong in Windows Mail. Yesterday, when the POP3 server for one of my domains was inaccessible (it's a thing, they hurt); therefore recovery of mail from all of my accounts (in other areas) took place upwards, so that as an exception that I decided to check the mail via the web maintenance offers for this (it's like webmail.mydomain.com). Four new messages there.

A few minutes later, when Windows Mail had abandoned on the POP3 server not accessible via my other synchronized got accounts, which that I had posted. All four mails have been removed from the server, but only two appeared in my Inbox. The other two have disappeared. They don't end up in the Junk folder that Windows Mail maintains, or one that keeps updated McAfee. They do not end up in the trash or any other folder either.

What could go wrong here and, more importantly, how can I avoid this never happens again? One of the two missing messages was not important (commercial but not spam), but it was still linked to a job application.

    I use Microsoft Windows Mail for Vista, version 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101 - 2205)

Help, please! Any advice will be appreciated.

Yes.  WMUtil fix incompatibilities between the database and the actual data.  But McAfee is the real culprit.  It is not compatible with WinMail and must be completely removed.  You can get www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and www.malwarebytes.org to protect your system and exclude the eml files in mse to prevent these mismatches in the future.

After that remove your e-mail account, then run WMUtil to compact and repair the database and then add your account to e-mail back again.

For the parameters and IE9 issue see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#15 and for the background of the message from WinMail store see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm

It seems as you do not have the latest version of Vista, so make sure that you have upgraded to SP2 to fix the other faults (Winmail will not be affected much).

  • Expl 9 command bar icon Mail how to use with outlook?

I have win 7, CPH 9. When I try to use the mail icon I get: not properly installed default e-mail client.  ?  Is there a solution?

    Hi Lelandw,

The error message you get is either because the default mail client program is not yet set on the computer, or maybe it's because the default mail client you defined is not working properly.

If you want to set the Microsoft Outlook program as the program on the computer's default e-mail client, you can do that by referring to this article:

Change the programs that Windows uses by default

    Hi Florian.

We are really sorry for all the inconveniences that made you.

If one or more of your icons are not displayed does not correctly, or your icon cache is corrupted, then you could consider to rebuild the icon cache to reset and reload the icon images in the icon cache.

The icon is located at the location of the system hidden below folder:

    C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Local\IconCache.DB

At the same time if these steps does not resolve your problems you can contact Adobe support by following the link below:
