  Assuming you are using windows 7, follow these steps.

  Photos will show the locations only, if the computer is connected to the internet after importing the photos.   Names of places in photos are not a great help in navigation.  Most of my photos of sailing is simply display "North Atlantic" or "Sea of Caribbean", such as the location, but the locations of the pins on the map are correct.  And if you export photos Tags the GPS will be integrated. Just, make sure that you enable empbed location information in the Photos of preferences > General.

  You can check if the GPS has been applied by the camera, if you export Photos photos, open in preview. The Info Panel in preview (Tools > Inspector) will tell you the GPS coordinates.

  I assume that you use a while loop to keep the updated value.
