ICS Atrix WebTop

Just curious, is the new WebTop (ICS) environment is related to

http://www.Ubuntu.com/devices/Android

and to this

http://www.pcpro.co.UK/News/373024/canonical-puts-Ubuntu-on-Android-smartphones

or is a custom solution Motorola?

Not sure on that one I am sure that this is exclusive information. However, I believe that the current webtop is a version of Ubuntu. Read this article from last year.

  • Can I download and install the pre - ICS, Office full version of firefox to use as my browser with my lapdock (webtop mode)?

I just bought a lapdock for use with my droid 4 for work. Long story, but I need access to the internet to do my job, and there is nothing here. I thought this would be a great workaround solution. However, with the update of the ICS, the my phone webtop mode is not the full desktop firefox used the old operating system. The mobile firefox works well, but it is not completely compatible with the sites I need to work.

So, basically, I'm looking for a way to use the version of firefox which has been presented in the phones motorola (maybe others too) webtop mode and has been web enabled to mimic a full laptop computer experience.

Does anyone know if there is a way to download the old firefox office webtop android on my phone that I could use in my app drawer whenever I'm clinging to my lapdock? This would make my life a million times easier - and is the main selling point of buying me the dock in the first place. I hope someone has a way for me to achieve. Thank you!

Thanks for the info, virtualsattva. It's logical. Disappointing, but it makes sense.

  • ATRIX Lapdock ATRIX HD compatibility

If I buy the micro USB and micro-HDMI cables to connect the ATRIX HD to my old lapdock ATRIX, can I still use the lapdock as a screen, keyboard and mouse even without the software of webtop?

I have the ATRIX 4 G with almost all of the accessories, and I was upset to learn that Motorola has decided to cancel the upgrade to ICS and let the ATRIX owners stuck in the gingerbread. I am now considering an upgrade to the HD of the ATRIX. I stopped by my AT & T store to take the ATRIX HD for a test drive and I like the look and feel of it. It is very sensitive and seems to be a great upgrade. I don't want to lose the use of my lapdock.

    stbain,

I actually tried this and it does not work as you described. However, I have a few comments. The microUSB and HDMI ports have a different orientation. I modified atrix 4G lapdock brother to fit its Atrix 2 (same orientation as the HD). This requires dissasembling your lapdock but there are detailed instructions on the web. What I did is really turn at each port, class one of the blankets with a file and the lapdock is now directly usable for Atrix 2. I tried this lapdock briefly with my HD Atrix and all controls are active, work on keyboard and touchpad. It also assumes the appropriate landscape orientation. A minor thing, I did not like was the fact that the screen on my HD Atrix stayed on and seat upside down, so if you're picky you dislike. However, I tried this, before the update and as far as I know that can be addressed now.

    I hope this helps

  • The Atrix dock car

    Hi all

I've been running my Atrix with webtop without no problem, however, I bought a car dock yesterday and have not been able to have the car dock to launch the app at all.

At first I thought it was because the USB slot on my helmet pushed only 500mA as opposed to 1000mA and thus, perhaps, the phone was not recognizing the dock. So, I went to radio shack and bought a fast charger which grow a 1000mA to see if that would make a difference. No dice. I tried to turn my phone on and off as well as activating / disabling the various switches to power satellite, wireless and bluetooth, and that does not work either.

I had a problem with the speaker of the phone then I exchanged it for another new Atrix address this problem of rattling. I had hope that maybe a new phone would also good launch of the car dock app. That no longer works. Needless to say, I still love the phone, but I'm tired of trying to have the car dock function correctly.

I can do to get the car dock app runs automatically without having to download a third party home app?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Chris

  • Atrix 2 loss of signal - red circle or the symbol of the cross

I had my Atrix 2 a few weeks ago, and I love the phone. However, I noticed that randomly I will lose all signal and instead of a symbol of the 4 G with bars I will have a red circle with a line through it, either a grey square with a Red Cross in it. This happens even in places where I would normally signal. I have these symbols and no signal for a short period of time (a few seconds to a minute or two), and then my signal goes back.
Everyone knows this? I don't know if it's a phone or a problem of society of cell.
I look and it seems that the owners of the original Atrix has had a similar problem.

Motorola have a lot of thinking to fix with ICS for Atrix 2, there a lot of problems, signal, wifi, microsd compatibility, etc. I hope they do their job, give us a quality of the product.
    Thank you!

  • Flash 10.2 on Webtop

Noticed that the flash in the webtop browser is 10.1 even after updating the phone to 10.2 via the market. Y at - it an update in the next few weeks? I feel that the entire experience of webtop might be smoother if we consider the power of this phone.

Update the Flash from the market place will not improve the webtop browser flash. This is due to a different software in the webtop application architecture and the Atrix. The webtop uses a specialized flash version which is only available via OTA in future maintenance releases.

  • ATRIX HD: Unable to meet the guest of the meeting.

When I get an invitation sent meeting of Microsoft Hotmail / Microsoft Windows Live Mail / Microsoft Outlook on my Google Gmail account, I am unable to accept or decline the invitation to the Android Gmail app 4.0.4. The Gmail application displays the message as an attachment '.ics '. By clicking on the attachment '.ics' opens at the event in the Android App calendar unfortunately 4.0.4 or the Gmail app, or the calendar app allow you to reply to the sender with an indication to accept or refuse. In addition, the event on the calendar loses information about the organizer of the event and instead incorretly shows me as the creator of the event rather than as a participant.

A related issue is that the calendar app insists to store the event on "device calendar. More information about the registration of the event in the calendar by default is described in the post "problem recording session invite the RAZR." Android number 1257, "Calendar should support opening iCal .ics files" is also relevant.

Is it possible to use the ATRIX HD in a way that is compatible with the invitations of the iCalendar (.ics) format?

Test system: Motorola Atrix HD, Android 4.0.4.

There is no way to change this behavior on the Atrix HD. The Gmail client seems at hand it off the calendar and the calendar, is what opens the file ICS - I determined this by saving the file and then open it via the file manager.

But you're right - there is only a check and an X based on what to do with him, and he adds the local calendar using the checkbox.

I agree that you should be able to choose what caledar you add to and send a response.

  • Atrix HDMI to laptop computer Vaio HDMI connection does not

I adapted my Atrix on the multimedia dock, connected power and then connected to the mm HDMI cable anchor on my laptop Vaio HDMI, I have read and understood the firefox browser should be launched directly, but did not, I missed something?

By the way, I have the kit multimedia motorola set.

    Advise me please.

    Thank you

There are few things mingle here:

    1. the webtop is initiated when the Atrix is connected to the HD multimedia dock and the dock is connected to the TV via HD.

    2. the webtop includes the full version of Firefox running a customized version of Ubuntu

    3. connect multimedia dock via HDMI to laptop will not work because this HDMI connection on the laptop, the output not in. Also, why put phone firefox on laptop? Just open firefox on the laptop.

    4. connection from computer to phone via USB will launch all apps on the phone. Which allows to "Motorola Phone Portal" (when USB connected) will cause the computer's browser to open and gives you access to some data of the phone - Contacts, SMS, photos and let you handle these things via the computer.

5 Motorola has another application - Motorola Media Link; You can download and use to manage music and movies.

    6. If you want to use the webtop application when it is connected to a TV, you can, but it takes the phone to have turned on WiFi or an approved carrier data plan - if you want to use internet applications.

  • Webtop - allowed to try without a dock? and without plan 4 GB?

I wonder if there is a way for me to test the webtop app witout getting a HD Multimedia Dock or the Lapdock.

I also wonder if it is possible to use the Lapdock without getting the 4 GB AT & T plan and continue to use the wireless data network. I want to convince my boss that it's better to buy a new laptop.

    Thank you!

I don't think that you can test the webtop without a dock. The Atrix is not compatible HDMI mirroring so oyu can not connect your phone directly to a HDMI monitor and get the same results that the use of the docking station.

The Atrix firmware specifically checks to see if you have the 4 GB before plan allow the use of the Lapdock without a WiFi connection. No plan of 4 GB is WiFi only.
