identify what vmdk running a device specific guest OS.
Hello
first. If I'm in the wrong discussion group please tell me the right pair.
I'm trying to find a way to determine that a record player on what vmdk specific guest OS.
example: on my Centos virtual, I get a problem with/dev/sda device.
the OS is in/var/messages attempts or abends.
I would like to know in what xxxx.vmdk this unit is included in order to know
What data store / physical drive might have a problem.
in the simplest configuration:
vsphere I can browse data warehouses and get all the (vmdk) files that belong to a virtual machine and their size.
via perl or vSphere GUI scripts. I see that my vm includes 2 hard drives, disk 1 and disk 2
guest OS, I can get the free disks and the definition of the partition. (df - k, sfdisk..)
I see two devices/dev/sda and/dev/sdb.
is there a tool (linux or vmware) able to map "/ dev/sdxxx" in the guest to "xxxx.vmdk" in the ESX operating system. ?
as far as I understood from the research of community discussion are that this kind of information is not just available via the API
due to the needs of security to isolate between the ESX and the BONE asked.
any suggestions?
Best regards
If you have VMware Tools running, you can get the drives in the OS space consumed/etc and then you can use a script logic to map back to the VMDK (s).
Here is a script of health report to extract information about the use of the disc comments among other things to give you an idea of how this can be done" VMware vSphere Health Check Report v5.1.0.
Specifically, you'll want to watch guestInfo, once again, this information is only available if you are running VMware tools and then you can get list of the VMDK (s) of the virtual machine is running and compare.

Can't find what is running in the background
Recently, my computer (Windows 7) began to show in the pointer of the mouse with a cirlce running (or whatever it is that tells you that something (or a program) is running) and worse still, when typing (even now), I have to click on the typing box to have my cursor back to the program (word (, excel or box of any type) and finish typing because as far as I know, another program that has been unning back came on top of the program I was / is to help.
I tried the Task Manager but cannot see any program unusual and even uninstalled a program "synchronize" by Roxio, thinking that was the cause, but it is always the case. Please advise me on how find/identify which program is the cause.

Almost all cases no matter what programs run almost 100% of the CPU running.
Hey guys I have a problem I could use some help with.
I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium 64-bit
4 GB of Ram
Intel Duo Core T6500 @ 2.1 GHZ
I've had this laptop over a year now and it works perfectly but around a week ago, he went a little out of whack.
Basically, no matter what programs are running my CPU usage will be 90-100%, which makes the laptop almost impossible to use.
It comes and goes a bit, but for the majority of the time is around this margin. (for example I wrote that his party up to 10% once again, little about what I expected, but it will rocket upward again in a few minutes)
The strange thing is that it doesn't seem to be a program or .exe using all CPU. Sometimes odd things as Dell Dock (which must use almost nothing) use up to 40% and if that gets closed or temporarily fixed things like explorer.exe, svchost.exe or whatever happens to be executed at the moment when will start using more CPU and look back up to 100%.
Only, this started happening recently and I have no idea what made him... Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot for all the suggestions/help
(and just a quick update)
My computer stopped a few times now unexpectedly as well and do not restart for 10 minutes. Once again, no idea why... The back of it felt very hot but I wonder if a fan issue could play a role?)

Software to run the device CiscoSX 20 H.323 for VC
I have a static IP address to set up and do a VC.
Because Jabber is now end of LIFE, what are the other software I can look forward to run the device SX20 Cisco H.323 for VC?
Please note that you are only affected by this if you use JabberVideo 'free' which uses the jabber.com field, if you use "enterprise" JabberVideo, which is deployed and managed in your organization, then you can continue to use it until your organization decides otherwise.
There is no free replacement for 'free' JabberVideo, so, if that is what you use, well, then you should consider paying for as a service.
Yes, Cisco spark is free, but it does not support calls to/from other devices and/or customers.
Polycom RealPresence desktop has a fully functional 30-day trial offer, you will need to purchase a license if you wish to continue using it after 30 days, however.

How can I reduce what is running in the background? How can I know about the enigmatic ID that I need the program running?
Click Start, run and type msconfig.
On the Startup tab, uncheck what you think that you don't need running at startup.
Then run a virus scan and AntiSpyware - you can find ones that are free on the net and and make sure you have a firewall too.
Press alt-ctrl-del to bring up the Task Manager and close everything that is running that you think are also unnecessary.
Overall be careful; confirm and backup before doing the things mentioned.

What is running on my computer? [was: Kathleen]
Since several days I had loads of windows updates tonight with another 25, all presumably in preparation for the coming of ten windows, however, I have now circle next to my cursor one turning constantly, I opened the Task Manager to see what is running, there is my CCleaner and GWX. EXE, the latter I don't know what it is, I would like to know what it is, I can remove it or should I remove it and if I do how to do this.
GWX.exe is'Gand Windows X (ten)' application.
When you say Ccleaner and GWX.exe are running, how much the CPU usage they show them? In the Task Manager, see the "Processes" tab, not on the 'Applications' tab and don't forget to click on the button to "Show processes from all users" (you may need to respond to a UAC prompt).
And why is Ccleaner active anyway?
Open Ccleaner, click on 'Settings' and uncheck the box for "Run Ccleaner when the computer starts." If I were you, I would also uncheck to automatically check for updates. You only need to run Ccleaner every now and then. And when you do, use ONLY the "Cleaner" option NEVER the option 'Registry '.
Notwithstanding the above paragraph, if Ccleaner is started and not doing anything, it should not be of any use of the CPU.
If you don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, you can uninstall Windows Update KB3035583 and then 'hide it. " This will remove GWX.exe from your computer.
