What is running on my computer? [was: Kathleen]
Since several days I had loads of windows updates tonight with another 25, all presumably in preparation for the coming of ten windows, however, I have now circle next to my cursor one turning constantly, I opened the Task Manager to see what is running, there is my CCleaner and GWX. EXE, the latter I don't know what it is, I would like to know what it is, I can remove it or should I remove it and if I do how to do this.
GWX.exe is'Gand Windows X (ten)' application.
When you say Ccleaner and GWX.exe are running, how much the CPU usage they show them? In the Task Manager, see the "Processes" tab, not on the 'Applications' tab and don't forget to click on the button to "Show processes from all users" (you may need to respond to a UAC prompt).
And why is Ccleaner active anyway?
Open Ccleaner, click on 'Settings' and uncheck the box for "Run Ccleaner when the computer starts." If I were you, I would also uncheck to automatically check for updates. You only need to run Ccleaner every now and then. And when you do, use ONLY the "Cleaner" option NEVER the option 'Registry '.
Notwithstanding the above paragraph, if Ccleaner is started and not doing anything, it should not be of any use of the CPU.
If you don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, you can uninstall Windows Update KB3035583 and then 'hide it. " This will remove GWX.exe from your computer. Can't find what is running in the background
Recently, my computer (Windows 7) began to show in the pointer of the mouse with a cirlce running (or whatever it is that tells you that something (or a program) is running) and worse still, when typing (even now), I have to click on the typing box to have my cursor back to the program (word (, excel or box of any type) and finish typing because as far as I know, another program that has been unning back came on top of the program I was / is to help.
I tried the Task Manager but cannot see any program unusual and even uninstalled a program "synchronize" by Roxio, thinking that was the cause, but it is always the case. Please advise me on how find/identify which program is the cause.

Almost all cases no matter what programs run almost 100% of the CPU running.
Hey guys I have a problem I could use some help with.
I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium 64-bit
4 GB of Ram
Intel Duo Core T6500 @ 2.1 GHZ
I've had this laptop over a year now and it works perfectly but around a week ago, he went a little out of whack.
Basically, no matter what programs are running my CPU usage will be 90-100%, which makes the laptop almost impossible to use.
It comes and goes a bit, but for the majority of the time is around this margin. (for example I wrote that his party up to 10% once again, little about what I expected, but it will rocket upward again in a few minutes)
The strange thing is that it doesn't seem to be a program or .exe using all CPU. Sometimes odd things as Dell Dock (which must use almost nothing) use up to 40% and if that gets closed or temporarily fixed things like explorer.exe, svchost.exe or whatever happens to be executed at the moment when will start using more CPU and look back up to 100%.
Only, this started happening recently and I have no idea what made him... Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot for all the suggestions/help
(and just a quick update)
My computer stopped a few times now unexpectedly as well and do not restart for 10 minutes. Once again, no idea why... The back of it felt very hot but I wonder if a fan issue could play a role?)

I ran a report on my computer, in case of problems. It detected that I needed to verify in the Configuration of the system on the programs that were running at the start of the computer. I have several here I will list who is here, and maybe someone can tell me that I don't need at start-up.
1 Microsoft Security by Microsoft
2 updater Java (TM) Platform SE Auto by Sun Microsystems
3 Localnet Express 3.0 - propel Software Corp. (Localnet is my provider and this express is supposed to help my computer go to websites faster)
4 Roc_Roc_NT_unknown-AVG safe search (I was told I didn't need AVG antivirus, so I deleted it out)
5. default manager by Microsoft
6 adobe Acrobat from Adobe Systems
7 adobe Reader by Adobe Systems
8 AVG Tray-unknown
I hope someone can help me with this takes 15 min for a loading site approx. 30 to load the game after I finally get it, then the game is frozen and won't do anything. Even for all other sites, I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do. I have dial up and Windows 7. Just started having problems after getting this new service provider.
Hello Wanda.
One command, but lets see what we can do to whittle the list down. First, dial-up internet connection is slow, so keep that in mind that we work here.
Second, almost all your startup programs are valid and advised to load at startup of Windows. Some possible changes:
(1) If you need not a specific to Java, such as might have the game that you are trying to play, so you don't need to have it is launched at startup.
(2) regarding the Adobe programs, why do you have Acrobat on your computer? Do you need to create PDF files? Adobe Reader which has many freeware alternatives that are faster, used to read PDF files. So if you need only to read PDF files, you can stop Acrobat from loading at startup.
(3) other startup programs are all legitimate. And remember, just because you do not start a program at startup, does not mean that you cannot start later if you find that you don't need it.
(4) the problems you encounter to "all sites that you visit" could be a function of malware. You don't have AVG Antivirus running on your computer just? I recommend do you a scan in depth and then put in quarantine and remove any infections it finds.
(5) after you run the virus scan, I suggest that you try to download and run these two scanners. First MalwareBytes' Antimalware, here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html. Secondly, SUPERAntiSpyware, here: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html. Quarantine and remove all infections they find.
(6) after doing this, restart your computer and see how it works. Please post your results here, and if you have any questions during this process, post here and I'll help you. Let me know how you fare.

How can I find what firewall is running on my computer?
Original title: find firewallsHow can I find what firewall is running on my computer? I have used norton, mcafree, avg in the past. All have been removed through programs removal program. I turned off my windows firewall and Security Center says I still have firewalls. I can't access itunes store or download programs (such as the overdrive media). I don't have a router, but have tried that disconnect and connect the computer directly to the modem. Still have the problem.
Security applications - especially those of McAfee and Norton - cannot be completely removed using the control panel > Add / Remove programs.
For McAfee, see http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100507 which explains how to use the McAfee Consumer Products Removal (that you can get the link in this article).
For AVG, see http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities
If for some reason you want to reinstall everything before (that I do not recommend), don't forget to make a record of your license key before uninstalling. The links above should explain how to do this.
Some motherboards with nVidia chipsets include a hardware firewall (nVidia ActiveArmor). I'm not positive on how to determine if you have this or not, but I suggest starting with a glance at the "network adapter" section of the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK).
PS: even if you're experienced, do not use your router. It provides a layer of protection between you and the Internet, if you connect with all firewalls disabled.

What has changed on my computer? I was able to create folders and can no more do this... I have Windows 7 with Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010... before uninstalling some software yesterday, I could create a new folder. now I can create is no longer a new folder.
How can I solve this problem?Thank youHello Annette,.
It is a problem for a long time under Windows 7. To solve it I recommend that you only install the following program - FileMenu Tools. You can download the portable freeware from here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/FileMenu-Tools-Portable.shtml .
After having downloaded and installed the program, you will notice that, by default, each option is checked. I would be much more selective on this subject, otherwise your context menu will be a full page long! When the main window opens, you will see a list on the right side of all the elements that can be added to the context menu. Start weeding through the list and every one to take away, you don't need the United Nationsby checking the box.
Once you have completed your selection (de-selections) make sure that you click the green check mark in the row of icons at the top of the left window of the interface to 'Apply' of your choice. The program can do much more, but that answers your specific question. I am told that the program has a good help file, so try here if you are interested.
Let me know if this solves the problem for you.
Kind regards

How to find what processes are running on my computer and use it from memory?
* Original title: find running processes
How to find what processes are running on my computer and use it from memory?
You can press Ctrl-Shift-Escape to see which processes are underway and those who is using memory (and how much they use). Although the memory usage is not as important as how they use lots of CPU, which is what can make your computer slow if there are too many programs use the CPU at the same time. For memory, even if she says that he uses a lot, an inactive program ' pages on "memory to the hard disk and it frees room for other programs to use, is not as important as the CPU generally (unless you are very very low on memory).

my computer was wiped out if I download Adobe cc What do I have to pay again
my computer was wiped out if I download Adobe cc What do I have to pay again
You can install the applications available in creative cloud on your firstcomputer and backup a single computer, as long as they do not work at the same time. You will have access to the Mac OS and Windows versions, so if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, for example, you can install your applications on both.
You can reference "Activation limit reached" or "connection error impossible ' with Adobe applications
Thank you

Good afternoon
I bought my macbook in-store London´s Regent Street and went to visit Colombia. My computer broke down and so I went in an authorized Apple store, INext in Santa Marta. Here is their website: www.inextstore.com.co
On 27 January, after three months of waiting for a spare part (who said they originally would take a week or two to find), I was told the part couldn t be found, and they offered to buy me my computer. I said, I think about it but smelled something suspicious, and returned to the store a few days later to get my computer and the money back guarantee, when another Member of staff told me that it had been stolen on 16 January, that is before the day where they offered to buy my computer! This means that during ten days after the flight, they don't warn me the flight and even tried to hide from me. So, I realized that they had lied to me.
Whatever it is, they offered me a second hand computer to replace my only, but they want to keep the money I paid in advance for the repair, as they claim that my computer was not working. I can't trust them more that they have already lied to me, and they could give me a computer of second hand with no original parts. As of today, they still have the money I paid for the replacement part that never happened and I Don t have a computer.
Nobody knows, outside to report them to the authorities, if there is anything else I can do? I already wrote to Apple to let them know about the behavior of their authorized dealer, but any additional siggestions would be great.
Thank you!
It's very awkward, Zorba777. You talk about a country that does not have the kind of laws for the protection of consumers that you will find in the United Kingdom (or USA). And I imagine that the legal side would be difficult to implement, too. Anyway...
Advisor Apple was a good idea. Apple needs to know these things.
If you were there as a tourist, talk to their tourist Office.
If you have a receipt for any of this transaction and was assured, approach your insurers.
If this last road is taken, you must first report the matter as the theft to local police (and get a report number).
Your insurers will require the it.
Good luck.

Computer has stopped in the middle of installing downloaded updates... It said unable to off... What should I do?
Give him more time!
If subsequently you must turn itoff, and you have problems:
Restore point:
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
How can I reduce what is running in the background because the computer runs very slowly.
Original title: S L O W speed
How can I reduce what is running in the background? How can I know about the enigmatic ID that I need the program running?
Click Start, run and type msconfig.
On the Startup tab, uncheck what you think that you don't need running at startup.
Then run a virus scan and AntiSpyware - you can find ones that are free on the net and and make sure you have a firewall too.
Press alt-ctrl-del to bring up the Task Manager and close everything that is running that you think are also unnecessary.
Overall be careful; confirm and backup before doing the things mentioned.
Received a phone call from an organization called Windows Security (or similar name). They advise that they have indications that my computer was attacked by viruses and other malware, has offered assistance to the assessment, problems, etc. I went through a series of tasks that I believe that gave them access to my computer, but then got suspicious, and said I would call back. Given telephone number was (520) 720-0786. Given names were Sean Wilson and Bryan Hussey. Please indicate if they are legit, and if not, what can I do to protect myself? Appreciate your help... Brian
This is a complete scam. You can report it to your local police.
For your own protection, you should:- Change your passwords on email accounts, accounts financial and sensitive to which accounts you access online from this PC. RIGHT NOW!
- Run a full scan of your PC using your antivirus application... Also download and run a full scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free edition). MBAM is a very good solution in addition to your primary backup antivirus/antimalware application.
- I would also go here: https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Shared/Help.aspx and follow the advice of "I think that my PC is infected", including potentially calls MS help.
- Above all, do not delay! If you have any concerns about the handling of it, then disconnect your computer from the internet and call MS before anything else.
