  Firewall is disabled by default.   Apparently Apple feels uncomfortable with their built-in protection that is disabled.

  If you are using your own wireless network, then your router has its own firewall and it is not necessary.

  If you are off and on the 'free' wifi, personally I would be on the firewall. I would allow the stealth mode in the options.

  If you do not want these updates, you might be able to work around the problem in this way:

  1. On the taskbar of office, near the clock, right click on the power icon and choose Power Options.
  2. Click on the 'Change plan settings' link on the right blue.  Down, then click on the "change advanced power settings".
  3. Scroll to the bottom to find the wireless section and set the "battery on ' the same as 'power '.  This can make the driver work using the same configuration, regardless of power source.

  in case you're an avast user, please try to disable https scanning in avast:

  1. Open the Avast dashboard on an affected system.
  2. Select settings in the left side menu.

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
  contacts data with a pencil eraser.
