The firewall is disabled

Hi, firewall on my MacBook Pro has been disabled by default and I noticed that at the time after using it for 3 months. What was I outlined and is there a way to check if there is no danger? Thanks in advance for the answer!

Firewall is disabled by default.   Apparently Apple feels uncomfortable with their built-in protection that is disabled.

If you are using your own wireless network, then your router has its own firewall and it is not necessary.

If you are off and on the 'free' wifi, personally I would be on the firewall. I would allow the stealth mode in the options.

    Hello EricValenzuela9,

What version of Norton do you use? You can open Norton Internet Security & check if the smart firewall is showing that enabled? If so, you can try the instructions in our KB article:

  • IE6 won't open unless the firewall is disabled

I am running Windows XP & Internet Explorer 6.0.  A week previously, IE stopped opening when I clicked on the icon from the desktop.  You can see the screen flash as if it's tempting, but nothing happens.  I installed Firefox with the same result.  I found a loophole to the internet - if I open my computer, search, search Internet, IE opens.  I can't do a system restore (it failed), malicious tool found nothing, AdAware found nothing.  I played with Windows Firewall & my Norton settings & found that if I disable both firewalls, the internet opens.  No idea how I can fix this?  Not sure if this is a bug or a software problem.

I found the problem - it was a virus named sdra64.exe.  I downloaded a malware from malwarebytes.org removal tool & remove the .exe, pirate files & safety deactivation of the files.  Good as new.

  • Running Win7, McAfee firewall from Verizon, impossible to print on HP 8610. Will print if the firewall disabled

New installed HP printer.  Prints on a laptop with active firewall.  Will print on the other laptop unless the firewall is disabled.  Both computers running Windows 7 Service Pack 1.  The two are running McAfee Security Suite from Verizon.  Any ideas.

You need to login to McAfee Firewall settings and allow communication to the printer.

I can't tell you step by step, but McAfee settings are probably pretty easy to follow.  If you are using Windows Firewall, I could give you the steps, but since it is a product of McAfee, you want to communicate with them or their material of reference if you need instructions.

  • How to enter the firewall what is underway

    When the firewall snaps

    Hi Brian,.

If enabled and configured as normally, let him do during startup (somewhere in the process, but there is no way of knowing precisely when or the order, it is found in) and works in the background.  It works in progress and that you do not engage.  If something tries to go beyond this, it activates that block and logs the attempt.

The verification process depends on your version of Windows.  I'll tell you how it's done with 32-bit Vista Business SP2.

Go to start / Control Panel / Security Center.  It will tell you whether the firewall is enabled or not.  For further confirmation, click on Windows Firewall and it will also show whether it is enabled or disabled.  Click on change settings and in the first tab you can turn it on or off (I STRONGLY suggest you leave on) and on the other two tabs, you can set exceptions and advanced features to make it work better (by, for example, deletion of the exceptions (unchecking the boxes) for features, you must or use or use it so rarely is best to disable access and activate it if/when the situation arises where it is needed - each) of these exceptions is another way in your system and the fewer resources, the better protected you are).  Other OS use different methods to get the firewall settings and check that it is on - if you use an operating system different and foregoing isn't enough for you to find a way to access it on your system, then register it with your exact version of Windows and I'll try to find a way to do it with this operating system.

If the firewall is disabled, and you cannot activate it, then after return and we will discuss the procedures to identify the cause and resolve the problem.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • IP in the firewall does not work in ESXi 5.5 are they allowed?

Hello to all users of the VMWare communities,

I am new to the management and use of VMWare.

Recently, we bought a server with VMWare VSphere ESXi 5.5.

It is on an ISP, with a public IP address in which VMWare management network is configured. By default, all the management ports are open (SSH, Web, VSphere Client ports, and a lot of more ports I think I won't use...).

The problem is that I want to protect as much as possible this host. I have no external firewall to this host to close unused ports so I want to use the built-in firewall.

I am trying to use the feature "Allowed IP addresses" the integrated firewall of ESXi, but it does not work. I want to only allow SSH connections and management via vsphere client of static public ip address from my office, I put this IP address in the settings of the firewall for each service, but apparently it does not work, I can still continue to access across all services.

No idea who might be the problem?

    Thank you very much.

    Finally, I found the problem.

    The firewall is disabled!

I connect to ssh host and do: 'esxcli get network firewall' to get the status of the firewall and after seeing it is disabled, "esxcli network - enabled true firewall.

I Don t know why, but by default in the installation of vmware, the firewall is disabled.

After that I enabled, apparently it remains enabled between restarts.

Thank you everyone (for nothing ;-\)

  • How can I disable the firewall of windows for FPGA

I tried to compile an FPGA vi. Towards the end of compilation, asked me if I wanted to disable something in the windows firewall (probably to allow for communication between my computer and my PXI-7854R). At the time, I had no administrative privilege and couldn't do anything but cancel this request. Of course, nothing that I compiles now runs. How to get back to the point where I can disable the firewall?

A picture of the error message is attached.

    Thank you

  • Firewall Windows disable the Internet Explorer loads Up after slow start after the installation of Windows updates

Hello, (this the mystery of on and Off and back on Windows Firewall with slow loading of programs like Internet Explorer as this all is pass it on firewall, disable the firewall, the firewall, it occurs only during starts, after he fine / but very annoying on reboots whom he accuses of my computer down) / listed below is the cause of it , and when she first started, you have a solution?

I recently installed the last 16 (High Profile) updates to security, for most security updates and updates from net framework as well as the removal of malware for windows XP tool.

After installing these updates, now my Windows Firewall turns off during 'Boot Up' on all restarts. If I try to load Internet Explorer, it will also not load up to minutes serveral / while this happens... That's fine, then finally my firewall itself loads Up quickly turns to Internet Explorer and back on during this time around the same time.

After these updates these things are happening on my computer now, it's as if there is a process running, but nothing run any virus, Trojan or worm etc just these updates caused this problem. I don't know if it updates is corrupt or not, but have tried different things as system file checker /scan etc with no luck.

    (1) computer boots to the top and seems to Load Up Fine ' until the ' or 'Look at this' but isn't, something is running in the background or process "wing unstalled" is obviously "unhooked", etc..

    2) try to load Internet Explorer last minutes and is very slow to load up, even if I 'don't load Internet Explorer' must still a long while that as in the firewall turn off for awhile some several «minutes» (way too long), before "auto turn on automatically return.

    (3) turns firewall Windows itself on "finally" as Internet Explorer finally loads upwards as well the two Internet Explorer is able to load 'definitely' and the firewall is on "finally" as many minutes later as listed above, at the same time.

This could be the cause? Only, it has begun to 'After' I ran windows update and installed the 'most recently high security updates for windows XP' there were 16 listed mainly security updates and updates of net framework as well as the software removal tool windows malware.

That's all that is changed on my system, I tried many things, nothing seems to fix this problem with my computer. I know for a fact that these updates are the cause, but am not sure that you caused it? Or how do to solve this problem, any sugguestions would be appreciated.

Please answer questions following diagnosis by number in your very next answer (no need to quote this post):

    1. what application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

2 a Norton or McAfee application already installed on the computer?

    3. do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).

    4. you are using IE6, IE7 or IE8?

    5. have you ALREADY had the opportunity to do a Repair Installation of Windows XP for some reason any?
