Help, please. My CD/DVD drive won't open unless I use a needle and even when he's not reading anything.

As I have said on the subject my CD/DVD drive does not open and it will not read. My computer sees the problem but has no solutions. That I am, I expected to do?

Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.

  • Optical drive will not read anything else professional films

So, I am owner of a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 ". The computer comes with Intel Core i7 processor and has the maximum of 8 GB of Ram. The problem is that the optical drive that is built into the computer will read nothing else done professionally movies. It can read disks of movies like the Lord of the rings and Wargames, to name a few, I tested, but it will not read any DVD-R disc or to a CD. I tried the CDs as Metallica music... And Justice for all after try in another computer and a radio and get good results when it just won't play on my Mac.

I have had this problem in the past , but at the time the optical drive not read anything at all. This occurred in early December and I fixed it on 20 December. To solve the problem, I went to the Apple Store and they can Reset the P - RAM. The Apple guy he told me to make sure to disable every night. I did this because it's what I did in the past. After that, I was able to play any CD or DVD and burn them. I also tested it every two weeks by playing a DVD in there to check that it still works. But I discovered that it was broken again when tried to insert a DVD-R to burn things on it and the computer only it spun and then ejected it. I've known this current problem since around mid-April.

I did some research on it and what I have read I believe that I must buy a cleaning disc and run it in my optical drive to clean the lens of the eye out, but I don't understand how I am able to read some disks and not others if that is the problem.

Can I take it again in the Apple Store and get it looked like or should I buy a cleaning disc and run it through my optical drive, and then decide what to do next? I'm in no hurry to get this problem fixed because my guarantee does not expire until the end of July this year.

I don't know why you want to put some words in BOLD and a few words in normal font. Frankly I find it a bit annoying when someone does something like that, but oh well... what you could do is to try a cleaning disc (the one with little brushes this topic) or a good breath of air compressed. In addition, some brands of DVD - R Virgin do not work as well as others. I found verbatim to be good, maybe maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Your mileage may vary...

If this still does not work, feel free to zap the pram x 2-3) and do an smc reset. Shut down the computer, plug power adapter, hold down the left shift, control, option, and button works / stop for about 45 seconds, let go of all of them, then press the power button to restart. If none of this works, then by all means to make a genius bar appointment and bring it in to your local Apple store. Hey, if you have an extended warranty, might as well use it, right?

    Good luck

My bed dvd player is nothing. She made some attempts to turn the cd and then give up. Click the icon of my computer dvd player gives me an i/o device error message.

What I have to buy a new dvd player or can it be repaired? also, would it not a motherboard problem, which means that I should probably get a new laptop?

    Thanks for any help,

    Hello

I put t think that this drive problem has something to do with the motherboard. The operating system is running properly and I think that you have only one problem with your CD/DVD drive.
Unfortunately, I put t hear it is possible repair. It is perhaps possible to s, but I think that costs are too high to do and this is why the new replacement drive is always advised.

You can try to remove the drive from Device Manager and then after reboot the operating system should recognize it again. You can also try to clean the lens but I n t think this will solve anything.

    Hello everyone,
My problem: the DVD player and CD used to run perfectly since 2 years ago, I bought the laptop.
A week ago the driver suddenly stopped reading and not reading any CD or DVD, no music, no data.
    Nothing...

    Can someone help me?
    Thank you, J.

    Hello

It is possible that the drive is faulty, but to confirm this, the drive must be verified by the service. It will be interesting to know what exactly happens when you try to use certain media. Is the absolutely silent drive with no activity or the control LED lights up and car tried to read the media? What is the status in windows Explorer? If the list, what happens when you click on ODD? Is an error occurs?

    What you can do is:

Remove the drive from Device Manager, and then restart the device. After this check the functionality.
    Try to clean the lens
Playback option with CD or DVD original only test
I'm not sure this will help, but if it happens all of a sudden try to restore the operating system by using the system restore utility

It is really not easy to tell what the problem may be, but it is really possible that the drive is dead.
