Illustrator file missing objects when placed in InDesign

I created an Illustrator file that contains text converted to outlines. Some of it is white, and some of it is other colors. When I save the eps file, pdf or export in jpg format and then place the files in InDesign, the text shown in white is not. Advice?

  • Why my .jpg have a transparent object when placed in Indesign?

I have a product .jpg image that I'm trying to place it in InDesign, and when I place, a part of this image becomes transparent. Have messed around with this for several hours now, check the color settings, tried to save as a different types, and for some reason it still keeps coming up with the part that it is transparent. At the end of my tether, could really use some help on this. Use InDesign cs6 as well. Thank you

Considering that the JPEG format does not support true transparency, I would say that he must have an installed clipping path. To find out, with the placed image selected, choose object > Clipping Path... If «Convert clipping path to frame...» "turned on, (not gray) in the flyout, there is an active clipping path in the image. You have Photoshop?

  • Illustrator files sometimes have a white BG when placed in InDesign

What determines if a file from Illustrator .ai or Illustrator .eps file will have a white background when placed in InDesign? Usually, when I placed an .ai file, the background is white, and when I place a .eps file, the background is transparent. But I noticed in the files other people that placed .ai files have a transparent background. In all cases, the imported file's vector pure. I would have preferred that the background be transparent all the time, unless I give the object frame a while fill in InDesign.

If you choose 'Show the Options' on placing your file, you will see the dialog box has an option "transparent background".

(It is unlikely, but yet still possible, that all the files you receive have a white rectangle in the back for real).

When placed in Indesign CC, the shadow is missing in the JPG file (see below for screenshots of the image placed in Indesign CC and the placed image once exported in PDF format) - I tried to import TIFF etc format but the same error occurs.

  • EPS images looking pixelated when placed in Indesign

I'm creating a catalog. The images I use are eps files.

In some cases the image when placed in Indesign out completely or partially pixelated.

I checked the display performance and it's quality. I also place the image not to copy and paste.

What should I do to solve the problem?

Try saving it as AI in Illustrator and see if it works better.

  • Objects Illustrator missing when placed in InDesign

I created an Illustrator file that contains text converted to outlines. Some of it is white, and some of it is other colors. When I save the eps file, pdf or export in jpg format and then place the files in InDesign, the text shown in white is not. Advice?

First of all, save as .ai rather than .eps for better compatibility and the second, make sure that the white text in Illustrator is not the value overprint. ID does not allow you to define white for a recovery and remove the attribute when you change the color from black, but Illustrator is not quite as pleasant.

  • Fill and line in file I don't not knocking out when placed in InDesign (CS4)

I have a built in Illustrator and placed 3 - tones object in InDesign. Two tones are set to overprint in the 'attributes' palette and in fact do this in relation to other layers in InDesign. The 3rd color is on not overprint, which means he should knock out colors below it. This isn't. As a test, I added a 4th point of color in the Illustrator file, on a layer below this spot color 3. Watch the knockout separations printing works correctly in this case. In Illustrator, I read pieces on transparency knockouts and knockout groups, but apparently not that's what I'm up to.

As an aside, I can copy the objects in artificial intelligence and paste them into InDesign and knockouts work very well. I will probably use this as a workaround, but would like to know why the items does not work as expected.

    Thanks for the pointers.

    w.

I disabled the black in the .ai file and re-recorded, thus he wouldn't show and took a look at identity card, and of course, no knockout, so I looked at the options object for the graphics layer and the layer of fishing was not lit. Since it is the one who is supposed to do to knock out...

Edit: you seem to have the latest version. Hold the CMD by choosing "On InDesign" in the menu help.

  • File Adobe Stock vector keeps pixellisant when placed in InDesign

I bought this vector AI on Adobe Stock. Works beautifully in Illustrator (I made a few changes), and that you want to place in InDesign for a poster, but it horribly pixelated that I drag from one program to the other, except in the libraries of CC and drop, save under, pdf, psd or png before placing them. Re-uploaded original version unedited. Don't look at what, the image is perfect until it is opened in InDesign. Then she rasterizes to extreme levels. It seems there will be no change in the quality of resolution or image when I check vital signs. I have not had this problem before. Thanks for any help.

    Hi Debra,

If the placed graphic is vector pure without transparency applied after you bought it, it should appear as pixelated when opened in an exported PDF/X-4 document.

    Unless:

You rasterizes the vector information through the flattening of transparencies may on export to PDF.

And you did not use the standard preset PDF/X-4. Maybe you have exported to a PDF format requiring its flattening of transparency.

    Try the following:

    Create a new document.

Place the image on a blank page by using the set command.

Do not use a CC library this time.

Export page in PDF/X-4 (with NO downsampling; you must change the default settings for this).

Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader.

Zoom to more than 1000% and make a screenshot of part of the graph that should be as a vector.

    Best post screenshot online here.

Use the function "Insert an Image" of the forum to do so.

    Kind regards

  • Image to be cut when placed in InDesign

I don't know how to describe this, so I'll just include a screenshot. When you place an image in InDesign Creative Cloud (only some images, but all types of formats) the image is cropped oddly & pieces of it are missing. It seems that it is cut in the shape of bag behind him, but he does even when the image is merged (as with JPG) so I don't think that the layers should have an impact. When I view in photoshop, they watch everything, but when I place them, in this case. I tried placing them under photoshop, JPG, PNG, GIF, etc, but it does every time. Has started last week after have never had this problem before. Any idea what's going on? I tried to update, but that did not help. So frustrated.

    Untitled-1.jpg

You have a mask applied to the image? Open the image in Photoshop and check the Trace Panel. If you see a clipping in this path you can remove it. InDesign automatically apply the clipping paths when you place if they are properly created in Photoshop.

  • Hidden layers displayed when placed in InDesign

Starting this week, HAVE sometimes layer hidden file is the display when I place this file in InDesign. I use CC and have you not meet this problem before. It is not the case with all the files, just most of them.

I am on Win 7 (64-bit) machine and have been putting the files in this way for about two years, most during the use of the computer I'm using now. I have not changed the settings, but this must be the problem because I don't see others in the forum to fall on this issue.

When you place the file in InDesign, make sure display import options. There you can select which layers to display.

  • Transparent background is white when placed in InDesign

    SC5 I v. 15.0.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.8

I never had this problem before. I have very simple work in Illustrator and seen with the grid of transparency on this subject shows as black with no background color.

In InDesign (CS5 v. 7.0.4) it comes up with a white background to space art despite a frame with no fill.

I've recreated the work in Illustrator but is the same thing - it's just type converted to outlines and expanded.

Any suggestions welcome as deadline is looming!

    Thank you.

When you view the transparency grid, you should see a checkerboard pattern, unless you have changed the default settings

Try to place the image in InDesign again and check the show import options, and then turn on the transparent background.

  • In artificial intelligence logo is pixelated when placed in InDesign ~ please help

I am a newbie so this may be a stupid problem, but right now it's taking me big time! I have CS3 and created my company logo in Illustrator in order to have a vector image. It looks fine, but when I try to place it in InDesign projects (my business card, letterhead, etc.) it's pixelated the way I expect a raster image to act. I searched all my books training CS3 and may not know what the problem is. I need to understand this point as soon as possible so any help I can get is appreciated. Thank you very much!

  • photos look different (bad) when placed in InDesign CS4

I have a problem because my photos look frowned upon in InDesign. I work on my photos, until they look perfect in Photoshop - with just the right color balance and tone - but when I put in ID, they look much darker and more red or saturated. Then I look in Photoshop again, and they look very good. What gives? A program that shows the actual status of the photo? BTW, the pictures are using the same color profile in the two programs and the monitor is unchanged b & w viewings.

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and what I can do about it? It makes me very nervous to see my pictures looking so bad in InDesign, where I prepare my layouts for offset printing. They will print as I see them in Photoshop or they will print as I see them in InDesign (which is terrible)? At this point, I am reluctant to make other adjustments and hoping that it is the view of Photoshop which is correct.

But why is it happening in the first place? Is there a setting I should be fixing? Or is there an issue or incompatibility black and white Photoshop and InDesign color I know of?

I use ID and Photoshop CS4 on Mac OS x 10.4.11

Hope someone out there can help me with this problem.

    Thanks in advance!

    Scarlett

In Indesign all that you see is an overview of your images, it is a proxy of low quality, used only for the purposes of the layout.

However, you can get a better overview by choosing View-> display-> display high quality performance. But it is still not as good as what you see in photoshop. Do not despair. As long as you have not all the missing links or changed in your links palette, your images will be printed as you see them in PS (or as close as you can get).
