iMac 24 as a second monitor 2010 27 iMac?

An iMac 2006 24 can be used as a second monitor for my iMac 27 inches in 2010? I ask because I can get one for a great price.

Only with a product such as ScreenRecycler.

Hi guys, I just bought iMac 27 "i5 3.3 with radeon M395 2 GB 5K, I would like to know if I can connect my monitor LCD Philips that runs at 1920 x 1080 as a second monitor 27" and if so, what cable connection should use.

Thank you very much in advance.

The iMac can power two external monitors, I have an imac 27 "non-retine with an external LG.

As for cable, it depends on outings has the Philips, it can be one of the following values: VGA, DVI - D or HDMI or any combination of these. So you would need an adapter that goes from first sight to one of the foregoing. The third option as it is not not a digital connection but analog VGA.

  • iMac 27 "with the second monitor boots black with cursor

I can't seem to find another discussion altogether as my problem starting special 'black screen ':

New iMac 27 "retina 5K (end of 2015) running OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 with second monitor Samsung connected by Mini DP - DVI.  When starting, the two screens are displayed in black, but the cursor is available and can be moved.

I have to make a hard stop and disconnect the second monitor to start at the login screen. Then I can reconnect the monitor and everything works.

    Any suggestions for a fix?

So, I spent some time with Apple customer support. Several of the standard troubleshooting for problems of mystery, they came to the conclusion that there was an incompatibility of driver with the Samsung monitor at startup which is mucking things up, and I just have to accept starting with the second disconnected monitor then plug it in again after a successful login.

Samsung does not write the monitor for Mac drivers (for some reason any), that's why the customer support figures that there is a hangup at startup. But why OS X recognize the monitor and run fine otherwise? Why only hang at boot time? And why my Mac Book Pro 2007 running the same version of El Capitan boot fine with the connected monitor? It has something to do with the Thunderbolt/mini-DP-to-DVI connection? I don't know, and I guess that Apple's Support is not either.

I fell on a hack, which is as follows:

    1. start with the second monitor connected

    2. in the "black screen with cursor" hold the power button quite long to put the computer to sleep

3 wake up the computer with the keyboard or trackpad or other

4 and now the login screen will appear.

    5 log in as usual.

    6.

I hope this helps someone. One day I'll get a more compatible monitor and it will not be a Samsung.

    They make nice dish, however.

    A Mac Pro doesn't have a built-in screen.

If you mean a stand-alone monitor used for a Mac Pro, only if it can be connected to the iMac.

If you want to tell screen integrated a MacBook Pro, only with a product such as ScreenRecycler. All these work on a network.

  • Lightroom CC crashes when you use the second monitor

I use Lightroom CC on a core 6 2010 Mac Pro with 24 GB of RAM and the application running on an SSD with OS10.9.5.

Until the other day, I've been using Lightroom 5.7.

I have two NEC 24 "monitors connected to my computer.

I paid about $1,000 for each, and I was happy with their color rendering and performance.

In the last two weeks, I had repeatedly when Lightroom stops working.

Usually after using edit in Photoshop command, or creating a web gallery, once the order has been issued, LR will go to one screen and frozen at this time, most of the controls does not work. Then I have to select exit from the menu and reopen the application. Needless to say it's a lousy way to work.

Tonight, I discovered that if I run Lightroom on a monitor, the gel that happens after having a web gallery, or help edit in Photoshop, does not happen. However, if I start with just one monitor, use edit in Photoshop, then click to use my second monitor, then frost.

Having 2 monitors is very useful, so having to limit myself to 1 monitor is pretty disappointing, not to mention a waste of investment.

I've been using Lightroom 5 long on this system without these problems.

I installed Lightroom CC as a way to solve my problem.

But there is the same problem with it.

I thought about updating the operating system to 10.11, but I expect to do.

I've read of people having problems with OS 10.11 (El Capitan), and I need to upgrade backup software, if I switch to 10.11.

It seems to me that there may be some type of bug or problem with Lightroom and the Mac OS when it comes to use 2 monitors.

Everyone knows this freeze or lock up Lightroom?

Has anyone else had him freezes related to the use of two monitors?

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

A Mac savvy friend suggested that I create a new user account to see if the problem of gel with the second monitor would also with a new user account.

I created a new user account, and Lightroom works fine.

Then, I had to migrate all the settings for the various programs to the new user.

I also decided to improve the operating system of 10.9 Mavericks at El Captian, 10.11.

I also changed 5.7 Lightroom at Lightroom CC 2015.

All these computing has taken a lot of time, but now everything works fine.

  • First Pro CC will not recognize the second monitor

    Greetings:

I'm having a problem with the help of my second monitor to the output in CC PP.  I did the following based on another post:

Try these two steps to check the transmission is enabled:

    1. go in the program monitor Panel menu > check "Allow to pass" is checked.

    2. go to Preferences > reading > check your 2nd monitor is present and active.

What I get when I do it is a black screen that covers the top left of my screen at 1920 x 1080, the size of my other monitor.  When I save a project and use my second monitor for a sign, say under my belt, I'm able to drag the Panel above and use it, but when I save and reboot, the Panel is always on my primary monitor:

I tried different confgurations in Preferences-> reading, but get the same result every time.  I have to force quit when I get the black box, I'm unable to access other options of PP.  Anyone encountered this, and if so, is there a solution?  I saw that there was a problem of "transmit", but that does not solve this problem.  Thank you!

I don't hate replying to my own post, but I thought I'd post here how I solved my problem in case someone else ends up here with a similar one.

To be clear, I have 2 monitors and when I activated transmit full playback screen would be superimposed on my workspace creation on monitor 1 even though I had specified to monitor 2 in my video device in the preferences > reading.

It seems that during the last few months (I have a vague memory of it), I decided to check the "improvements" in the way Mavericks managed multiple monitors. I created two spaces in Mission Control, this is how Applications in the dock wins a menu extended options in the menu contextual (the one that appears when your right click the application icon in the dock). I knew that this extended menu was there because the site of Apple told me.

From the OPTIONS menu on my 2 monitor setup are then ASSIGN to > all workstations; OFFICE ON DISPLAY 1; OFFICE ON DISPLAY 2; NONE.

After trying the various options to see if the operation was consistent with the explanation of Apple and if I wanted to work with spaces, I decided that I don't have not so I removed the spaces that I created in Mission Control.

Remove the deleted spaces these additional options ASSIGN to THE menu even though I wasn't aware of this at the time.

A few days later, I went to allow the TRANSMISSION when editing in Premiere Pro (that I had used successfully before) than having the problem described in this thread. I stupidly credited this problem for a recent update of CC and in the release of 2014 CC does not correct it, I started to look elsewhere.

Cut to the end and the way - after proving that a new Mac user account test does not show the problem, I have returned to my user account, active areas in control from Misson, changed the menu ATTRIBUTE to None for Premiere Pro (default), then the TRANSMISSION function worked correctly, showing a full picture has been assigned to the correct window.

OK, the last paragraph may suggest I knew what to do but I have not, I had spent a lot to research in the library of the user to search for differences, until I came across this.

Could test you with the use of Firefox hardware acceleration disabled? There are two ways to do:

    (1) temporarily to run Firefox in Safe Mode

    (2) turn off in normal mode of Firefox.

    # 1 :

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

Your tabs and non-private windows must be restored (unless you have configured to not save a history of Firefox).

    Any difference?

(To return to the normal mode, exit Firefox and restart normally.)

    # 2 :

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

It takes effect after leaving and you launch Firefox, next time.

  • Video HTML5 will not be full screen on the second monitor?

While playing a Html5 video full screen on my second monitor, whenever I try to do anything else the video mode full-screen. Video Flash works very well and will stay full screen on my second monitor. I also tried the same Html5 video in Google chrome and worked correctly and remained full screen too. So why the Html5 video will not remain on a second monitor fullscreen in Firefox?

There is a fix for this, but apparently it is not yet available in the current version of Firefox (12.0). At the next update of Firefox comes out, you will be able to go to about: config and game "full-screen - api .exit-on-disable" false and the problem will be solved.

I hope Mozilla will soon that the default for users will not do this!

  • Can I add a second monitor?

I'm used to 2 monitors, and I want to keep it this way.  I hung on a samsung monitor I have via HDMI to my Sprout.  It works, except that I can't seem to operate as one extension of the other.  I have set them up as an extension, but this is only to show the same as the monitor Sprout. All duplicates. I'm doing something wrong?  Sprout supports another monitor?

Yes, you can add a second monitor.

Right now, the only way to get it to work is to disable the Service to germinate, and then the 'third' monitor can be used as a large monitor. But it's the only way to expand at this time. I couldn't find a document about this, but here are the steps. And don't forget, all the germs associated options will be disabled, all 3 monitors at disposal for any windows application.

Start the Task Manager (right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager)

under the gaze of process for the germination process

    Stop it.

now, your monitor can be extended.

For starters, he do the same only backwards...

Of course you can do it. All you need to do is use the "Extended desktop" option.

I use my laptop with a second monitor (HP Pavillion 22xw) connected by HDMI. It was working fine until yesterday (including yesterday it worked), when a message from automatic upgrade HP was shown to informing him that the system needs to be restarted. After that, my second monitor stopped working. The system will not identify it more. I tried another cable, I rebooted several times, I tried to update the specific Intel graphics driver, I tried to uninstall and install manually another (I can't get this one done, because when I run manually downloaded driver there is a message saying that I need to contact the manufacturer). Hello @MAlex_B,

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! The forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I understand that you have a problem with the display and wanted to help you!  I see only after an update, the external monitor no longer works.

Given that this problem happened recently, have you tried to perform a System Restore, to define the notebook to its previous working state?  If this does not work, have you tried to update the drivers of graphics Chipset and BIOS on the HP website directly?  You can find the drivers for you product here: drivers - HP's ENVY for laptop - 15-ae178ca

Please post back with the results.  Let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution', this will help others easily find the information they seek.  In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!
