  Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu. Select restart from the Apple menu.

  Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

  I bought my first iMac about 3 weeks ago because my old pc I built about 9 years ago seems to be his last breath. As a passionate amateur photographer I only really use my computer for Photoshop and Lightroom and so decided to go for a reasonably well specced model. After much deliberation, I ended up buying an iMac 27 inch retina 5K with the fusion of 2 TB disk. I know Photoshop and Lightroom can be memory hungry I also went for 32 GB of RAM.

  I finally managed to copy all my music and photo on my new machine and install the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom. Hand has almost nothing else on this topic.

  The problem is that I use Lightroom and Photoshop for the last two days and I must admit that I am very disappointed by the performance of my new iMac, brand, especially if you're using Lightroom. It is slow and lazy. Even just starting the program seems to age, with the circle of rotation color thingy that appears very frequently and for awhile each time it is displayed. My old pc which had 6 GB of RAM and is 9 years old is faster. Photoshop does not seem TOO bad, not quite the blistering pace I didn't expect, but acceptable, I guess.

  It's a beautiful machine, the screen is amazing, but I am really annoyed that after having spent more than £2000 it does not appear the main task before I bought it!

  Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to what could be the problem?

  You don't want to use the rendering of the traced to the RADIUS. The ray-traced rendering engine is now obsolete. Use Cinema 4 d instead. It's free with AE CC, it makes it faster and it is much more powerful.

I think the 1 TB would be a lot of space, but my fiance thinks that if we get the 1 TB (with 24 GB SSD) we would barely get a lot of use SSD because most of which will be taken up with the software. The gentleman at best buy told us that what we use for, the 1 TB would be well because even if the 24 GB SSD has been exhausted, us would notice no difference between SSD and the normal HARD drive.

  There will be a noticeable performance difference-down if you get an iMac 27-inch display with the merger of 1 TB disk.

  It is because the 24 GB SSD, paired to office standards 1 TB hard drive 7200 RPM, will fill up almost with the operating system and installed applications (and third-party applications, you must install) not leaving enough data free storage for the OS to have certain additional operating margin to handle data on the SSD First, before having to access the slower spinning mechanical hard drive.

  2 to or full SSD disk is a much better Setup for a faster than the standard desktop 2 TB performance, drive hard 7200 RPM is matched with a 128 GB SSD, instead, which gives much more room performance for this iMac to exploit more regularly than the SSD as a support of temporary data / disk space like scratch (as long as you don't fill the SSD with a large amount of third-party applications and real saved these files the ordinary hard drive rather than the SSD).

• My iMac 27-inch 2011 intermittently turns

  I have an iMac 2011 mid with a processor clocked at 3.4 Ghz and 16 GB of ram. I had the PSU replaced about two years because of a similar problem.

  I recently moved house and when I set up my mac on arrival it would not turn. I tried the various troubleshooting steps Apple provides with no chance, at this point, I guess I would need a new power supply again and was waiting for a good time to go to an apple store.

  I thought that I would try to put the machine on every morning at the same time, just in case something has changed and the fifth day, I was pleasantly surprised that it is on. Jump forward two weeks use of normal night and I go on vacation for five days, when I return to that the mac would turn yet not.  Yet once about 5-7 days later I was surprised to see that he was suddenly works again.  Even after spending about two weeks and once more I am away from my home for 4 days, my back on that the mac will not turn again!

  The intermittent nature of the problem confuses me, and I was wondering if one has similar problems or can shed some light on why this can happen before as I lug my Apple store near.

  Uninstall the McAfee software according to the manufacturer's instructions, to see if this brings improvements.

• Two iMacs does not start after the 10.11.4 update.

  Two iMacs does not start after the 10.11.4 update.  Progress bar starts moving and then text appears on the black screen saying unexpected sigkill to launchd.  He then gets stuck in a loop trying to start.  Tried to reset the SMC and LANDAU.  Without success.  Started in recovery mode and ran disk utility.  Discs said OK.  Chose to reinstall OS X from the list of options in the recovery mode (assuming it would be 10.11.4).)  Installation is finished but still once does not start.  Reinstalled on 10.11.0 successfully from a USB key and downloaded the 10.11.4 combo updater.  Installation seems to work, but once again, the macs will not start.  Same 'unexpected launchd sigkill' error.  A mac is now back working properly with 10.11.3 the other will be shortly.  Is there a problem with the accession?  Our COMPUTER support use Munki to get updates from one day to the next.  Fortunately, we were able to stop it before the other 20 or if Mac had the same problem.

  More information: two bricks iMacs were late 2013 models.  A 21 "and a 27.  We have just updated a test iMac which was a late model 2012 using the 10.11.4 combo updater.

• iMac (24 inch, early 2009) freezes and then thaws

  iMac (24 inch, early 2009), frequency of 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Dup, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB - no reason apparent other than a mouse click randomly, the computer freezes for anything between a few minutes and maybe 15-20 minutes.  Then, he thaws and answer to all clicks made while it was frozen.

  I started in 'safe' mode and disconnect all external devices.  It occurs again, but perhaps to a slightly lesser degree.  The overall reaction is slow, with simple activities, taking a lot of time.  for example to move a small folder to a new location, took nearly a minute to complete.  Ejection of an external drive, took a minute to complete etc.

  This started when I upgraded to El Capitan and has been progressively worse since then.   All ideas are welcome please?
