Image files on desktop

I downloaded pictures from my camera, and I continue to receive copies displayed on the desktop. Whenever I have remove the other appears. I'm up to 26 copies of 91 photos. Any help, anyone?

The "office" is actually a combination of two folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Bureau

and

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Bureau

You can open Windows Explorer and see if deleting files through this interface works better.

I can't think of any mechanism that would cause the phenomenon you describe unless, for some weird reason, Windows File Protection thinks that your image files are actually files system.  It is highly unlikely, but you might take a look in the event viewer, in the Application logs and the system and see if there are registered events that refer to the removal or replacement of the files.

To open Event Viewer: start > run > eventvwr > OK

To make things easier to find, I suggest that you open Event Viewer, and then right-click on both the Application and system logs in the left pane and choose "Delete all events."  Don't bother saving files.  Close event viewer and delete some pictures.  Now open the observer of events again and see what happened.

You can double-click the entries displayed in the right pane to get more details.  If you see something unusual about an event properties page, you can click on the "Copy" icon (right underneath the up/down arrows), and then paste the info into your response here.

  • When you use Windows Explorer to view the files and folders, the thumbnails of image files appear briefly then are replaced with the default icon of the image file. I tried the answers to similar problems, but none worked.

    Browse the folders with image files, I cannot see the thumbnail icons for images correctly.  I know, it should be possible, but I can't do it.

    When I first open a folder in Explorer, I see the correct images for a fraction of a second, then all images are replaced by the thumbnail of the image file (which looks like part of a digital SLR).
    I put all folders to display picture to display the preview and the filter, and the "always show icons never thumbnails" is not checked.  Display file icon "on the photos' is unchecked (I tried checking, too, without change).  I also deleted the thumbnails using disk cleanup as suggested on another question, but which did not allow them.
    The result is that, if I want to open an image for editing or downloading, I have to use a third-party application (for example, Pentax Photo Browser) to preview images, and then return to the Explorer window to select the correct file by name. Don't try to difficulty of these things that are not broken.

    izzlecrate,
    You might want to try it and I just did this procedure myself a moment ago and surprising, it worked!  First of all I must tell you that I have Windows Vista, but the information I got was for Windows 7 and it worked.

    First: You must create a NEW FOLDER and put it on your desktop.
    Second: Move or copy the contents of the original file in the NEW FOLDER on the desktop. I copied the content, just in case something went wrong.
    Third: After that is finished and all the contents are inside you.
    Fourth: On the desktop right click on the folder and click Properties at the bottom of the box.
    Fifth: Click Customize tab at the top and then the Middle click on DEFAULT settings for the folder.  Click on apply to, click OK and your done

    NOW! You can move the folder wherever you want by drag-and - drop the folder and when it's done and that's the best part, you should see the thumbnails of the folder on the EDGE of the folder that you just created.  It worked for me and I hope it works for you.
    I have 10 years of experience with my computer and have troubleshooted my friends for viruses and other computer problems successfully.  I'm advanced computer user.

    That this is done, it restores the folder its original settings.  Good luck! Rick

  • Can I download my images on my desktop in jpg or png format?

    Hello

    I got my neglected Dollar Photo Club account at adobe (which I believe adobe their redeemed)! It was very easy to download my images on my desktop in jpg or png format, I now have credits in adobe and tried to download, but the format seem to be in .ai and nothing else, not even that AI is safe!  no need of my images in other formats, can someone point me in the right direction.

    .ai files are actually Adobe Illustrator files. You will need an Illustrator to use or convert the images a.jpg/.png/.svg etc.

    To not get all .ai files in your search, uncheck the box for 'vectors' on the search tool. You probably want to uncheck video as well.

    Of course, you can also have someone with Illustrator convert it for you.

  • My raw image files must be in one place?

    I'm trying to figure out where my raw image files should be when I download in Lightroom. I've been using Bridge and I usually download them to the desktop, treat bridge, back up a folder with JPEGs raw and treated later move them to our server and remove it from my office. Should I just download the server now that I use Lightroom?

    Well, I do not know which server/network you are using, but many people use servers storage for their photos with no problems at all.

    My recommendation is to ALWAYS put the photo in the folder/drive desired straight out of the camera. (In other words, put the photos on the server). My recommendation is to ALWAYS - do not put the photos in a place and move them later (it's more work!)

    Now, that being said, if your network/server is problematic in some way, then you would be better to put photos on your hard drive, but I think a better solution is to solve the problem of network and put photos directly on the server.

    Tanuj speaks to "read and write access", that shouldn't be a problem because you can set the read and write access on what it takes. I don't know why it's a problem for him, maybe he can explain more (and you only need read access to your photos for editing in Lightroom to work).

  • Image file of reading BLOB and the opening on the side customer

    Dear all,
    I have a table of database with a BLOB data type field and there are files TIFF stored in this column.

    I want to open this file on desktop of the client as Tiff soon he call a PL/SQL procedure?

    How built-ins or methods, I can use?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards
    Ali

    As an example of a PL/SQL procedure image file, the following procedure for web enabled (called via Apache and using the module of Apache Oracle mod_plsql ) returns an image.

    create or replace procedure TIFFimage( fileName varchar2 ) is
      b blob;
    begin
      -- read the TIFF blob from image table
      select p.file into b from my_tiff_files p where p.file_name = fileName;

      -- create the HTTP response header for the browser
      OWA_UTIL.mime_header( 'image/tiff', FALSE );
      HTP.p( 'Content-Disposition: attachment; filename='||fileName );
      HTP.p( 'Content-Length: ' || DBMS_LOB.getlength(b) );
      OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;

      -- stream the content using Oracle's Web Procedural Gateway interface
      WPG_DOCLOAD.download_file( b );
    end;

    In this case, the customer will be a web browser. It will use the URL will look something like this:

    http://my-web-server.my-domain.com/pls/TIFFimage?fileName=PrettyPicture.tiff

    No need for intermediate files. PL/SQL procedure creates a HTTP from MIME response that contains the image - something that the client (web browser in this case) understand and fully support.

    The same principle applies to any other type of client - he called SQL or PL/SQL - it gets a response - this process / makes this answer.

  • How can I synchronize catalogs on 2 computers that use the same location for the image files?

    I do not understand Lightroom.

    For example, I use LR4.2 on a desktop computer and a laptop computer. Two computers (Windows 7 64-bit) go to the same image files. On my laptop in a folder, I have 42 master images and 5 virtual (virtual events) for a total of 47 images. But when I open LR4.2 on the desktop I do not see the 5 virtual (virtual events) on the 42 master images.

    Why can not I see the 5 virtual events since I can access the exact file and how I see the virtual evidence created on the laptop on the desk.

    It has no function in LR to synchronize catalogs.

    If your pictures are on an external hard drive, you can move the file catalog to this external hard drive, and then you will have a catalogue on your desk and another on the laptop. Just use the one on your external hard drive.

    If your pictures are on a network drive, you can not put the file catalog here, so the only answer I know is to manually transfer the catalog back from one computer to the other file.

    Why can I not see the 5 virtual events since I can access the correct folder

    Lightroom does not save your work to the photo files. It stores your work in the Lightroom catalog file.

  • Personalized workspace, an image file to fit the area?

    iMac 27' OS Lion CS4 - I built a new custom workspace where I have about 10 pallets on the desktop, and unlike my old Mac G5 Tiger running constantly, when I open an image file, it occupies the entire screen (based on the original size) and occupies space as under the pallets. I would like for the image to open or if not open then when I hit cmd + 0 for "screen adjustment" while it occupies only the area of the screen which is free. help please.

    I just tried it on my iBook. The script works in Mac Photoshop. Just open your Photoshop folder in the Application folder, drop the script into Presets > Scripts > Scripts events only and then open Photoshop, open the Script event handler. The Windows and Mac versions work the same. Follow the settings in the example of Windows. Close and restart Photoshop, and it will work.

  • I can't import image files from my camera for Photoshop Elements

    My iMac recognizes my camera (a Canon Powershot S100 Digital Elph).  I know because he begins to iPhoto and automatically load images.  The problem is, I'm sick and tired of iPhoto, and I want to use Photoshop Elements instead.   When I connect the camera to the iMac (via USB), I don't get a camera icon which means a new volume or disk on my desktop.  Then when I open Photoshop 4.0, I can't find the files to import.  I could allow the computer to automatically import in the iPhoto library, then manually drag image files in a different directory for use by PSE, but this seems too complicated.  Why should I do this?  Please help if you can.

    John

    Right. It's all the same problem. Launch the Image Capture when your photo/card reader device is not connected and choose no request for the program to open when you connect a camera.

  • Get a preview of image files but not the other files

    In the Finder (or an alternative file manager) is there a way to show previews of image files, but not for the other files?

    With the image files, it will display a preview. With other types of file, a preview is useless and its best to see a standard icon indicating the file type.

    Any decent file on all Linux distributions browser lets you choose Preview vs standard icon based on case by case basis depending on the file type. I can't see how to proceed in the Finder (or the various alternatives as TotalFinder). How can I me Finder for this?

    The thumbnails, you mean? I don't think that there is a 'decent' solution for OS x. But then again, I don't know everything.
