IMAP issues

I can't get my godaddy imap email working. I checked the settings again and again. When I use the same setings on my Droid X, they work without problem. The error I get is "password" or incorrect user name but they are correct. This would be a matter of honeycomb? also when I select pop it works fine then...

  • Thunderbird 38 which will remove one of my IMAP accounts

I've used TB for years and currently have 4 hanging IMAP accounts. When updated Thunderbird updated to v38 recently, one of the accounts has stopped working. After days of troubleshooting and modification of account settings, I drove back to v37 and works account again once she did. Any idea what could happen? Should I submit a bug for this issue?

    A few details:
    -I am running Windows 7
-Temporarily disabled my firewall, which has no effect on the question
-L' e-mail address is linked to a server of the company (no problem outside TB)
-When you try to receive mail in v38, no error is given, it expires just
-When you try to add the account in v38, TB asked if the user name or password is incorrect

Guessing now that this is related to increased security in TB related to the attack of the impasse earlier this year. Maybe the server of our company needs a security update.

  • Shows IMAP account email date of download to Thunderbird, while in Outlook, the date is properly

I noticed that there is a difference in the date of e-mail displayed in Thunderbird (the account as IMAP configuration) compared to the same date by email in Outlook (POP account setup). See attachment.

Last night my vision was open when I got an email. Later that night, I open Thunderbird and have downloaded the same email but the time displayed is not real time, that the mail has been sent - it was the era of that email was recovered by Thunderbird! I have not seen this King of behavior among other customers of mail before, and I am puzzled. FYI, I use different e-mail clients for different sets of e-mail accounts (professional vs. personal) but a couple of e-mail accounts are on two email clients.

Below you will find the (under the direction of the Security/Privacy) source for the e-mail in question. You will notice that the time indicated by Thunderbird is nowhere in the source of the e-mail.

After some quick research, I found the culprit:

A Date entry does not appear in the email and adds that there is the issue of IMAP that is fixed by the addon that you made me. So basically, you were right.

The missing header entry should have been something like this:

    Date: Monday, August 17, 2015 14:19:05 GMT

Note that the addon fixed the date in the received column (need to add the column; It is not displayed by default) after I did a repair on the Inbox folder (please refer to the instructions of the addon).

  • emails will appear on 3 computers if they are all using IMAP?

I have a desktop and two laptops and last week created IMAP accounts on all three. Before that, I used POP and had to use a third party program to back up and restore all the emails from one computer to one of the others. Now, with three using IMAP will be the same folders and emails, including items sent and responses appear on all three computers? In account settings I have "keep messages for this account on this computer" and "synchronize all messages locally regardless of age..." Here are the correct settings for true synchronization?

with all three by using IMAP will be the same folders and emails, including items sent and responses appear on all three computers?

Yes, it's the whole issue using IMAP.

Here are the correct settings for true synchronization?

That should do it. But you can also check the status of synchronization for each folder.
A good test is to move Thunderbird into offline mode, and then open a message. It should open (the local offline copy) without a hitch.

That said, using IMAP is not a replacement for creating backups of your Thunderbird profile.
Remember, deleting a message on a device means that it will also be deleted on the server and all devices accessing the account via IMAP.

  • I want to spend some of my emails from the IMAP server and save them on my hard drive

I'm an iMac user who just flipped to Thunderbird. I can not all topics that deal with this issue. I see the 'local folders' at the bottom of my email accounts. This is where I can implement the records to move email messages on my hard drive.

I have just emails I want to save locally and not clutter my IMAP server.

You have got it. Local folders is the planned location for the storage that is. local and independent of all servers.

  • convert to POP IMAP

I followed the recommended procedure but when I try to create the IMAP account, I get an error saying "username or password is incorrect" and I am unable to act. Which may not be good, because the password is correct; I checked very carefully and the e-mail account is working perfectly. I'm doing something wrong or if I force the issue?

The user name is correct? You get the error message even if that one is wrong, or wrong format.

  • How to make a copy of the sent IMAP messages when the sent folder file cannot be found?

My Thunderbird works fine. I also see messages in the "sent" folder but I wonder are only registered in the IMAP server messages. For the backup application, I would like to copy the file from the "sent" folder but I can't find a local file for this.

In home/me/.thunderbird/44g5fxvp.default/ImapMail/mail. .fi [mymail] I have files
    Archives - 1.sbd
    Archives.MSF
    Deleted messages
    Messages.MSF deleted
    Drafts.MSF
    INBOX
    INBOX.msf
    inbox_old
    inbox_old. MSF
    msgFilterRules.dat
    Sent.MSF
    Templates.MSF
    Trash.MSF
    Trash.SBD

IE Sent.msf exists but is not named file sent. I am looking for a bad place? My Thunderbird settings or preferences are wrong? Is there something obvious that I missed?

What is the most convenient way to make a local copy of the sent messages folder if Thunderbird does not have a local copy of it?

Subscribed IMAP folders accounts configured to synchronize and place a copy of the folder on the server in the profile of mail, but this issue is constantly updated to match the server, so if you have new messages then these changes are made to the server folder and the folder on your computer is updated to match the server folder. Or if you delete mail from your copy then it will update the server. Then synchronized files are constantly changed and updated.
Moving while copy/move, it stops the activity on files synchronized and enables offline that get you a copy to anywhere else you want.
Less chance of something going wrong.
then go back to online mode.

I knew that some people have problems with copy/move emails in online mode that are offline.

Easy way to go 'offline and online.
    To go offline:
Click 2 bluescreen icon located in the bottom left of the status bar.

    To go online again:
Click 2 screen black icon located in the bottom left of the status bar.

  • Thunderbird - move old email, different drive, was POP IMAP now

I have two variables with this one, so I want to make sure get tips on the solution that covers both issues.

I recently spent my wife to POP IMAP emails. Very shortly after that, his car went wrong (I can use it as a secondary drive - I just can't boot from it). So I got a new drive and I'm re - install the system on the new drive with the old drive mounted as a secondary drive.

I installed Thunderbird (and set up his account as IMAP) and want to import all of its old messages pop. I hesitate to copy on all his old profile messages, because it was POP and IMAP now is. What is the best solution?

(If it was MS Outlook, I don't want to create a file to archive with all its old messages - this option exists in Thunderbird?)

    Thanks for any help.

Oh, then you must copy all e-mails in local folders and then manually copy the appropriate directory. I don't have time to provide details + test this.

If it is not urgent, I can get to it this evening (EST).

This document on local folders contains details about the way in which they are stored, if you try to do this by yourself please make backups before. Oh and make backups. Did I mention backups?

And of course, make a backup.

  • IMAP does not download the Images Inline in Gmail

To summarize: my client sends to my gmail address a lot of emails with inline images. When I read the email in Thunderbird, the images are not there.

    Here's what I see...

The customer uses a solution Exchange/Outlook (not sure if it's relevant). They send emails to my account gmail with inline images. I run Thunderbird/Imap on my pc to manage my email.

If you look at the email in Gmail via a browser, the inline image does not show inline. Instead, I see inline tag the CID (e.g. [cid:[email protected]]). The image is there, but it is available as an attachment.

When Thunderbird/Imap lowers the enamel, the fixing of the image does not come down. I see the CID tag in the body of the e-mail; That's all.

Here's my best guess as to what is happening...

Th original email has "Content-Type: multipart/mixed" and the CID tag.
When the message is received by Gmail, Gmail retrieves the image inline content and makes an attachment.
When Thunderbird/Imap Gets the email, it does not recognize the presence of the image as an attachment. If the multipart/related content Type, maybe it would be, don't know. When I read in Thunderbird, there is no image attachment.
By extracting the inline images, gmail had to also change the content type? don't know

It seems that the original email sent by Exchange/Outlook is valid.
Gmail is obviously to get the image online, I see it as an attachment.
I checked the recommended by Gmail Thunderbird/Imap settings.
I have Thunderbird set up to display inline images.
I been through various forums/Thunderbird issues and updated the config on the extraction by pieces, as recommended. I posted the question of aid there as well.

My analysis of what is happening can be 'average', so, if it is, it is just to ignore it. The key is that the inline images are not making it through gmail to thunderbird via imap.

    Thank you

Thanks for the reply. Good and bad news.

    - bad news, that did not help.
    - good news, I got a reply from the gmail support forums that resolved things, as follows.

With Outlook/Exchange shippers, it is very common for messages to be sent to the owner of Microsoft ("winmail.dat") TNEF. Web interface of Gmail can extract the BLOB TNEF attachments, but Thunderbird cannot, unless you install an extension like Lookout.

So, I installed the Thunderbird Lookout extension and restarted. Low' not behold, when I check emails, the original inline images are now visible attachments.

  • Using Thunderbird for GMail - IMAP

I tried to follow the recommendations of Google for IMAP using Thunderbird.
    Their recommendations:

    On the server settings tab:
The arrival of new messages at startup > checked
The arrival of new messages every 10 minutes > checked
When I delete a message > mark as deleted
Clean up ("Expunge") Inbox on exit > let off
Empty trash on exit > let off

If I followed the instructions for the deleted message, I find myself with many email in Thunderbird that have just a line through them, but not deleted. I don't understand why this has been recommended, unless the motive was to try to reduce the amount of actions performed on the server.

I wonder if other users of TB have seen elsewhere, or have the best suggestions?

The recommendation was made to avoid the problem of deleting a message that has been copied to another folder: Gmail deletes both the original and the copy (see the last paragraph of the section labels). There is a discussion of the issue starting here. Note in particular the recommendations of bkennelly here and here.

Thanks for asking, because it made me look it up.  It seems to be implemented via an IP connection constantly open to your Palm Pre to the messaging, as well as control IMAP server, INACTIVE, which is issued by the Palm Pre and responded to by the server of mail only when the following message is available in.  So, at the expense of a single IP connection over the phone being held open by anyone, it is really a boost non-bureaux to vote and not a closure, mark, 1 second draw.  There is complexity involving unreliable connections, gateways, and similar and 15 minutes using NOOP keep alive.

The downside is that for my phone at least and I haven't changed anything, I have stopped to see notifications of new messages for the past two days.  GRR.

  • IMAP in Outlook Express - using subfolders in the form of special folders

Servers such as Gmail require you to use a backslash ("\") in the path of special folders.

Unfortunately, OE not ACCEP slashes in the special folders. A few articles about the State of Windows Live using the ' # ' instead (for example ' [Gmail] #Drafts "), but (at least in OE) it creates just a real folder called by this name.

A work but VERY bad solution is fixing the symptom. In other words, define "[Gmail]" as root folder. This avoids the symptom by transforming the sub files in standard folders. It's bad, not only because it bypasses the actual problem, but because it means losing access to each custom folder of Gmail! It is best to disable the special folders that agreeing to this.

So, how can you deal with the real issue and simply use subfolders?

    Thank you!

WARNING: Incorrectly editing the registry can cause your system unstable or crash completely.

In case anyone (like me) stumbled across this old thread:

To use IMAP of Gmail's special folders in OE (Outlook Express):

    Step 1:
Go to the IMAP tab in your account properties in OE:

    Date of arrival:
[x] store special folders on IMAP server

Sent the point path: [Gmail] #Sent Mail

    Drafts path: [Gmail] #Drafts

(You use temporarily # because the / is not allowed by OE)

    Step 2:
Close OE. And open the registry (regedit) editor.
    Search the registry for [Gmail]

If all goes well, you will find the IMAP configuration for this account in a subkey of something like this:
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxx-XXXXXXXXXX-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx\Software\Microsoft\Internet account Manager\Accounts\0000000x

This site contains 2 keys type REG_SZ:
    Sent items IMAP folder
    IMAP drafts folder

Change these keys and turn the # /. It should look like this:
IMAP sent folder REG_SZ [Gmail] Articles / sending Mail
IMAP drafts folder REG_SZ [Gmail] /Brouillons.

    Close the registry

    Step 3:

Open OE. Go to tools > Options > tab send.
    Uncheck the box:
[] Save copy of messages in the 'Sent items' folder

Why? Because Gmail already saves a copy in your items for you. So why even bother to set it as your special sent itemsfolder? Because the column is sorted different on this' special' and in this way, you will see the column at as the first column in this issue.

The problem with this workaround is that whenever your settings need to be changed, you must reapply this thing for OE will not allow not these settings be saved for in OE.

    Good luck!

    Chris

  • It is possible to completely disable the Junk filtered by IMAP in WLM?

WLM is too active and is entering of incoming emails quite normal and throw them into the junk e-mail folder.  Whether accounts Gmail or random areas, it is a problem because I am trying to use WLM to manage my work email addresses.  Is there anyway to turn off completely this too active 'functionality '?  I connect to my domain via IMAP address.

It's really become a nusense since I have to pay attention to my Junk folder to see if important emails are to be mislabeled.  And no, whitelist these addresses is not an option because it allows only existing communication.

I turned to Phishing, and I set the junk filter to "No filtering"... to the zero effect.  Is that what I can do or should I scrap WLM?
