IMAP operations freeze sometimes Thunderbird

I just changed using a new computer with Windows 8.1. Thunderbird (latest version 31.2.0), now sometimes hangs (not responding), for a minute or two for the IMAP operations. It didn't happen in Windows 7, and all parameters are identical.

I have not found no consistency to the problem at all. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a while, other times it happens on each IMAP operation. It can happen when you move a message from one IMAP folder to another, or when you delete a message from an IMAP folder or by emptying the trash IMAP.

Things I've tried and that made no difference:
-Create a new Thunderbird profile.
-Disable all add-ons.
-Change the "maximum number of connections to the server to cache" to 1 for the IMAP account.

It took 4 hours of troubleshooting, but I finally found the culprit.

Windows Search

He did not freeze while Windows is in Mode safe mode with networking.

I uninstalled Kaspersky, disabled all non Microsoft Services, stopped all startup items, then started turning off Microsoft Services. Finally I could reduce to Windows Search. Then I re-enabled all the rest but Windows Search, tested, then activated Windows Search again.

Ultimately, the way to solve the problem is in the Thunderbird Options:

Menu bar: tools: Options: Advanced: general tab: systems integration:

Clear the check box "Allow Windows Search search for messages".

My Equium freezes sometimes when I use my TV (Anysee E30C) card.
'Freeze', that the display freezes, the mouse and the keyboard does not obey.
I have to stop by pressing the button for 15 sec.

  • Satellite Pro U400 freezes sometimes when the power cord is plugged

Hello! I know that this problem has been addressed here and there, but I'd like to open a new thread about it. Here's the scenario.

I recently bought a new Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-247 (PSU45E) with two batteries: (a) the original, (b) in addition purchased authentic of Toshiba PA3636U-1BRL, 7200 mAh. The laptop has the latest BIOS (4.80) and the latest drivers downloaded from Toshiba and installed (ConfigFree is not installed). I use XP Pro SP3 (own installation by myself). Everything works fine, except for one thing:

Sometimes (but), when the laptop is running on battery power and I plug in the power cord, everything hangs and I have to restart. A few observations:

    It tends to occur more frequently when the low battery alarm has rung;
    (b) it seems to happen more frequently with the 7200 mAh battery and less frequently with the original battery.
    (c) it seems to happen most often when a USB device (mouse, for example) has been linked to the laptop, but it is not a rule;
    (d) it seems to happen less often when I move the mouse USB at the time wherever I am connect the power cord.
    (e) I've experimented a lot with Toshiba PowerSaver settings (for example to change the levels of CPU for my profile) but nothing I changed seems to change the situation.
    (f) I tried different suggestions I found on various forums, but nothing works (for example the BIOS settings);
    (g) otherwise, I can say that I have not really seen a smoother computer, everything works really fine, no other problem :)

Everything that makes me think it must be some sort of bug in the drivers of motherboard driver PowerSaver or other drivers interact with battery, CPU or possibly USB. Y at - it an explanation to this problem and can it be rectified in some way (for example, by providing a driver update)?

    Hello

First of all, I never heard a driver from the motherboard.
There is a drive chipset or a graphics card driver. There is no such thing as a driver of the motherboard!

Look, man. laptop should work fine even the AC adapter is connected or not connected
If the laptop freezes while there might be a software problem, but in my opinion it could be hardware problem
You must reinstall the operating system if the laptop would freeze always the issue might be related to hardware

First of all the memory modules and AC adapter must be verified.
If the problem persists even using new modules and AC adapter, motherboard may be affected.

  • Taskbar freezes sometimes (Windows 8 Pro)

    Separated from this thread.

Same problem here in 2015! :)

New computer. all drivers up to date. Virus scan shows nothing. Premium version of Malwarebytes. O 8.1

Taskbar glitches from time to time.  Sometimes the program icon will not display and it is just an empty box or disappears completely. Time freezes or disappears completely.  CTRL, Alt, dlt and restart windows or Explorer (file) not browser! Resets the taskbar and fixed for a short period.

This is a persistent problem since I built my pc. I reinstalled my operating system and drivers with no luck.

    Hi John,.

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing a problem with the taskbar and icons who sometimes freezes. The cause may be due to several reasons, as there could be a corrupted file or an application that can cause this problem, or there may be an error in the registry.

I would like to know some details to help you better.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    2. Do you receive an error message/code? If Yes, give the complete error message/code.

    Method 1:

Start your computer in a clean boot and check if the problem persists. See below the help link.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/929135

This will eliminate the conflicts of software that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows

Note: Please go through the section: how to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting by clean boot of section of Kb to start the computer in normal startup after having resolved the issue.

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, start a Scan SFC (System File Checker) and check if it helps. It will search the corruptions of Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

  • How can I import messages from Opera Mail to Thunderbird?

I use Mail as my electronic agent main Opera on Windows XP Pro SP3. Soon, I'll install Windows 7, but first I'm configuring Thunderbird. (I already use Firefox.) I > store 4500 emails in my Opera Mail, and I was not able to find a way to import them into TB. In Opera Mail, for each mailing list and label (view), I want to import into TB, I first exported each of the opera in a *.mbs file in one directory of Windows. Now, I have several *.mbs files, one for each mailing list, or a label. I want to import into folders separated from TB. How can I accomplish this? I have reflected on the pages of online Mozilla support and found nothing. Or I'll talk all wrong? Thank you.

  • Tablet AT100 freezes sometimes

After that I tried to connect my tablet with an external hard drive (cable withoutelectric), it has been frozen.
So, I have to restart with the power button. After that it worked well. But a few days later the problem came back.

Now it freezes several times a day, even without a drive hard or any other reason. Sometimes after startup, sometimes when I start the browser... Yesterday, I put the factory - but the problem is still there.

    Any ideas?

It is an Android tablet, so you're very limited in troubleshooting...

All you can do, is to put the Tablet back to factory settings... depending on your message, you have already done this... so I guess it could be a hardware problem...

  • Libretto U100 freezes sometimes

My U100 has 2 years now and I am very happy with it. It is remarkable that even after two years there is still nothing to match it.

So far, it has been completely without problem, but twice in the last two days that he locked up without obvious reason. (I hope that it does not exercise when the warranty expires next year).

    The symptoms are:

1 completely freezes. View CONSIDERED all that was on it already.
    2. the fan starts running. It seems to go faster that he always does during normal operation.
    3. the Bluetooth mouse and trackpoint/trackpad all stop responding.
    4. no response to Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
5 having to use the power button on for close by force.
    6 works fine on reboot.

The first time, it was running on the battery while I made a piece to the other. The second time, it was the power sector and I was Power Saver Properties setting procedure.

I had similar symptoms on a Tecra 8100 new, but a healed as revised display driver. Seem of little likely to be a driver issue here though because I have not changed a driver for centuries - unless there is some into conflict with a recent update from Windows. The only recent change, I did the original software was to remove the fingerprint software.

These symptoms ring a Bell with any other user U100?

    Hello

To me, this looks like an overheating problem.
In many cases a high temperature causes a gel specification and does not.

The booklet is a very tiny laptop and I guess that the modules and the cooling fans are not huge. This is why it is important that the cooling modules are fluffy and can turn with a maximum return.

In my opinion, you should check this.
Several computer technicians use compressed air to clean the fans. I use a vacuum cleaner. Its very simple tool, but it works ;)

But be careful. If you n t know how, ask a technician who has much more experience as a user of portable ordinary like you and me.

If I understand your question; Vista crashes sometimes but not always.
I mean it is difficult to reproduce this problem and the reason. Is this good?

Have Hmm to restore the system and to check if it would happen again you tried?

  • My Tecra 8200 is stop/freezing sometimes

    Hi @all!

My Tecra 8200 laptop runs with Windows XP.
Problem is that it freezes, which means that it does not react to the keyboard and the mouse is blocked for a minute or 2. I tried to delete any powercontrols and installed "Speedfan" to cool components, but nothing did. The tech Support told me to change a setting in the bios. Let the OS set up components, and then reinstall the operating system. It did not help.

I would be gratefull for any suggestions.

    THX in advance,

    Michael

    Hi Michael

you say that the keyboard and the mouse is stuck for a minute or 2. This means that they continue to function normally after that? Or are you to shut down and turn it on to make it work again?

Alternatively, you can try to reload the OS with Restore tool! You can find accesssories!

  • Satellite L350D-201 - screen keeps freezing sometimes

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help, Ive had my laptop Toshiba L350D-201, a little less than 7 months and recently the screen just freezes.

Judgment of the mouse and the keyboard is not the answer to all commands such as Ctrl/alt/del and the only way to restart it is to turn it off by the main button.
It can happen twice within 10 minutes or not arrive for a few hours.

I was wondering if someone could help as Ive had no problems with it at all for now

    Thank you

    Murray

    Hi mate

Have you noticed a higher temperature while the laptop freezes?

From my own experience, a higher temperature may affect the functionality of the laptop and can lead to portable gel.
Also a RAM could be affected by the higher temperature.

You can clean the cooling modules using compressed air spray it maybe helps
    .
Of course, the problem might be related to a software problem display maybe driver malfunctions. In such cases, it s advisable to reinstall the operating system and update the display driver.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

    1. have you installed Windows 7 Professional before the show?
    2. What is the exact model of your computer number?

I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. Thank you also to provide details on the issue.

The problem may occur due to device driver damaged or problems with the hard drive.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Remove all external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard and check the issue.

If this does not help, then use method 2.

    Method 2:
As you tried to run the memory test that shows that the memory has no problem, it is possible that the hard drive has some bad sectors, then I suggest you run the disk check and see if it helps.
    Refer to this article:
Check your hard drive to find errors in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2641432

Note: When running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

  • Windows 7 Professional freezes sometimes - same error message hangs too! Help!

    Hello

Windows 7 Professional installed has been suspended or freezing occasionally in recent weeks and would appreciate advice on how to solve this problem.

Some additional details about my situation:

    • I've been using experienced PC (a HPw1907v with windows 7 Professional installed) for the last few months, but only the problem hanging or freezing in 3/4 weeks.
    • It doesn't seem to be common to the freezing episodes factors - sometimes I run a certain program - sometimes nothing at all.
    • When the PC crashes, I can not access the keyboard (Ctrl/alt/delete etc.) but audio will focus on the race.
    • The only way to get the PC going again is to pass the thing and the new (I know that's not good for the PC) and when the closing error screen appears it is often frozen (other than the countdown to numbers).
    • Sometimes I have to manually restart 2 or 3 times before Windows starts up again (in other words, it will restart but always show a frozen mouse).
    • I tried to install a Microsoft performance fix run and he seems to think there is a problem with programs running at startup-, but being not very PC to read and write, I'm not sure what programs to stop execution etc.
    • I already looked at several forum posts ""freezes"windows 7", but none of the other users problems exactly matches my problem.

Any advice for someone who doesn't know much about PCs would be greatly appreciated.

One final thought - I wonder if reinstalling Windows can fix it...

    Thank you
