Import from an external drive to mobile Lightroom

OK... here a good for you.

I have a Nexto card reader memory and storage device. Which allows me to transfer my photos on my memory card for my Nexto. I have an external hard drive that connects to my Nexto then and I can copy photos

on the external hard drive. Now the external hard drive is actually a wireless reader that allows me to connect to my iPad. I can see and transfer the contents of the disc on my iPad. Now, here's the kicker: I can transfer files

(in this case the cr2 files) from a disk external/ipad in Lightroom Mobile on my iPad?

Bob

Hi Bob,

If your Ipad gallery displays images from the external drive, then Yes you should be able to import these images into Lightroom Mobile as well.

  • Lightroom - how to restore backed up files (not the Lightroom Catalog) from one external drive to another?

How to restore backed up files (not the lightroom catalog) from one external drive to another.

I've recently saved my photo files to one external drive to another. The backup (carbon copy clone) pointed out some files corrupt on the original drive.

I deleted these files and find good copies of Time Machine backups.

I want to get rid of the original external drive; use the recent backup as my main outside and then save it to a new disc.

I'm not sure how everything is point lightroom for backups so he knows look on the new drive instead of the old drive and all points of exclamation and question marks go away.

There are close to 60 000 images in several files with a 'parent folder."

My best guess is Lightroom Help - create and manage folders - locate missing files

Can I point to the folder of one of their parents, and all of the subfolders will return?

This is the process for recovering files in lightroom and there will be a problem with so many photos?

  • New installs on Windows 8.1 and file transfer from an external drive, saved from death PC Vista machine

Hi, my old under Vista Home Premium (32 bit) desktop PC is dead and has been replaced by a new machine Windows 8.1 (64-bit).

I took the hard drive from my old PC and put it in an envelope and the files seem to be fine. I need advice on how to do the following things 4:

    (1) how to find and transfer of e-mail, including records and contacts (I used the e-mail program provided Vista on the old machine) on the new machine and I can't actually set up mail on the new machine to my ISP (BT Yahoo) first (I didn't click on the mail app yet).

    (2) how to find and transfer bookmarks/favorites of Chrome and the old disk to ie11 and/or Chrome structure on the new machine.

    (3) how do I transfer files (photos, music, documents, etc.) so that they are available for all users

    (4) I installed iTunes on the new PC, I want to transfer music files and album cover (I don't know how the album covers are found, and some are "home made" to cover the chronological collections of singles) from the old machine in the easiest way possible

Thank you for all the tips and advice.

Hi Tovoyer, I'll try to answer your questions in order.

    1. Transfer old contacts and emails in Windows Vista Mail

      • First of all, you know that Windows Vista was the latest OS to come with a desktop e-mail program.  Windows 7 and 8 do not come with any successor to the Windows Vista Mail program.  Instead, you can get it as a download in the Windows Essentials page option.  Windows 8 has a rudimentary base e-mail app, but it is designed for the Tablet/phones and the lamp.  If you want something that compares to Vista mail program, you'll want to get the free download of the essential elements in this link before you move forward.
      • After you have installed most of Windows, you can open the program (so renamed "Windows Live Mail" and add your ISP e-mail account.)  This will download depending on how your ISP provides email, all or part of your story by e-mail in the new programme, possibly negating the need to transfer anything from your old installation.
      • If you do not need to transfer your old files, navigate to the file / import Messages option in the Windows Live Mail program.  Choose "Windows Mail" in the list, and then navigate to this folder on your external hard drive attached:

        D:\Users\(your user name) \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local records
(replace D with the drive letter for your hard disk enclosure, of course).

      • To transfer your Contacts is even easier. The Vista mail program did not contact directly, it stores everything in this folder

        D:\Users\(your username) \Contacts

The file present in Windows 8, you can simply copy (or drag-and - drop) your contacts from the external drive on your drive of Windows 8 (C:\Users\(your name) \Contacts) and it will be flawless.

    2. Transfer of Chrome Favorites
      1. If you signed in using your Google account chrome, all of your favorites are stored in Google account, ready to be restored without effort.  Just to download Chrome again, go to the Tools menu and connect you and your bookmarks should appear.

If you do not use the Google account or had the sync disabled, you can still find your bookmarks.  After installing Chrome on your new PC, find the old bookmarks on the external hard drive file here:

        D:\Users\(your Name) \appdata\local\google\chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
(Note the bookmarks is a file, not a folder, but has no file extension).

And put it in the same folder on your installation of Windows 8.

    3. Transfer of Documents and Photos/etc and put at the disposal of all users

Simply drag - move the files in the folder "Public" user on Windows 8.  These files are shared by all users.

    C:\Users\Public (\documents \pictures, \videos \music, etc...)

  • You can simply drag the folder iTunes from the old drive to the same place in the drive of new (music folder of your user account).
  • My iMac can boot from an external drive?

    Hello

I have an iMac 21.5 "Mid 2010 which starts to show its age with slowness. However, I plan to upgrade the Basic 4 GB of Ram either 8 GB or 16 GB of Ram, depending on price... and my main question.  I know that the Mac came initially with a 500 GB hard drive and I would also like to upgrade to an SSD because they make a world of difference from what I've heard, but I don't have the level of skill tech to do the steps together 20-30. I wonder, as I have a 1 TB USB SSD externally, if I could install a new version of Mac OS X on the SSD USB and then set it as my boot drive and just keep still plugged. Would this work or startup disk must be internal rather than external via USB?

Your iMac can be set to boot from an external drive. Just install OS X on the SSD and SSD drive as your boot disk in System-> startup disk Preferences.

  • Satellite M30X-129: recovery CD can be run from an external drive?

My wifi seems to have packed - recognizes nearby wireless networks but does not connect to them - so I will try to use the recovery disk product in the hope that it will bring back wifi.

However, the DVD Multi drive does not work - light flashes to indicate some sort of activity, but no drive appears in my computer. I think that if I buy the external drive, I can run the product recovery disc for this.
Is the drive Toshiba external DVD SuperMulti (PA3454U-1DV2) compatible with the Satellite M30X - 129 P - M 735? Product recovery can be run from an external drive (bootable?)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

According to this page of Toshiba, the drive is compatible with your device:
    e http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/options_and_accessories_search_by_model.jsp?servic = 1 = us & selSeries & selFamily = 2326 & SelCategorie = 2319 & family = 2326 & selP roduct = 98795

The fact is that only the boot device options available: USB-drive floppy/disk HARD/ODD/LAN
I know you can only boot from external CD/DVD drive if the device supports this option and the unit.
In my opinion be100% sure you should ask ASP for advice.

But know one other question: do you have you boot from the restore CD to recover the operating system?
If you want to recover the operating system, you have to start on this CD and do not run it under Windows. Check it out

  • How to import from an external hard drive to LightRoom.

I'm brand new creative cloud and LightRoom. I have read and listened to the import from card memory, but I'm not sure how to import since the backup of my old Mac Pro drive to my new iMac. The external drive is already the backup for the new iMac, is connected and works. I can see the HARD drive in the LR Panel and you can find the 'pictures' folder in the drop-down list. I don't know if the 'folder of photos (on the left panel) is the old b/u or the iMac HARD drive. I can get to where I need to be so I can understand what I'm looking at and what I should look for that for the 2 discs HARD, p/c or iMac. I know the right panel, but the interactions are completely unknown to me. Thanks for any help and advice. TCrowe

If you are importing from a hard disk, then you don't need to worry about the right panel in the import dialog box. This would allow you to locate the file you want to import in the left panel. At the top of the import screen you choose the option 'Add '. This will add these images to your catalog without having to move them anywhere. If you want to place copies on another hard drive then you would choose the option copy the top of import. Then the right panel will allow you to specify where you want to place copies.

  • import music from the external drive to new itunes

Hello... Had to delete and reinstall all iOS on my MacBook Pro 2012. Have always worked iTunes on an external drive. All my music is and do not want it on my computer. Can not find a way to import it back in to new 12.4.0.119 Capitan 10.11.5 running iTunes. Help, please.

Do you mean OSX? iOS does not work on a computer.

Launch iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes external hard disk folder. If all you have on the media on your external drive then the structure of your library is lost and you must start with a new library. Go to iTunes > Preferences > advanced and set to use your external hard disk's current media folder.  In a window of iTunes, then drag your media folder.

  • Import of files from an external drive their copy on my internal drive?

    Hello

I am a PSE newbie and this is my first post here.  I have a question about importing files.  I store all of my photos on an external drive.  Importation of files copy in the Adobe folder?  If so, I can now work on an image even if the external drive is disconnected?

Will I receive an email notification when someone answers my question?

    Thank you.

If Windows sees your external drive as "removable", when you call the PES file > get Photos and videos > files and folders, default PSE copy photos in the Pictures\Adobe folder (unless you disable the option to copy the photos).

Usually, only flash drives (thumb readers ' "), CD/DVD, cameras and flash cards are processed by Windows as"removable ".  But sometimes Windows confused and treats as external hard drives removable.  You can check how Windows is treat your disk by Windows Explorer open, accessing the computer and looking at the Type column for the reader.

  • import of the external drive iTunes Podcasts

I have a large number of podcasts on an external drive, I want to put them in iTunes on my new iMac.

I have them copied from the external hard drive in the folder PODCAST iTunes on the iMac = iTunes Media - Podcasts - iTunes - music.

When I open iTunes and go to the PODCAST - MY PODCASTS I don't see any of the files that I copied in the Podcast folder listed above.

Is there a way for my old podcast existing if displayed in iTunes - Podcasts instead of having to re - download everything again?

    I have iTunes 12.3.3.17

    Thank you

I have them copied from the external hard drive in the folder PODCAST iTunes on the iMac = iTunes Media - Podcasts - iTunes - music.

You should never directly with iTunes structure of folders or files, you'll probably mess up the database. In addition, as you discovered when you add or remove files directly, iTunes becomes not informed of these changes.

Add files from podcast through the iTunes interface. By dragging on the sidebar of top-level lists works well. You can also use a menu to import them.

iTunes > file > add to library.

  • import from a hard drive on a mac

I use LR5 for the first time on a free trial version. I am trying to import my photos from the hard drive on my mac. As soon as I clicked on import, then pictures he says no photos found. I have pictures and photos in iPhoto on my mac, but I can't locate interface LR5.

You cannot directly import from iPhoto, using the Lightroom Import dialog box.

I think that in versions of LR 5 prior to version 5.7, you would have to export photos from iPhoto first and then import into Lightroom.

In LR 5.7 or later, LR 6 or Lightroom CC 2015, there is a built-in feature to import from iPhoto.

  • Could not import on an external drive

Recently, when I try to import photos to save to an external drive, it did not work. The import process seems to pass very quickly and then the file numbers are numbered with an error message. I can import fine on the internal hard drive and then move the files to the external drive. It only started happening. Any ideas?

Yes indeed, "cannot be read' is a WRITE permissions problem.

You did not check the permissions of the appropriate folder. You select PHOTOS 2015 as destination folder in Lightroom, and then you check the folder 2015 (another name) for permissions.
