Import of Capture One in Lightroom

If I import a picture of Capture One in Lightroom keywords that I added in Capture One will also appear in Lightroom? Will be imported metadata?

You cannot import directly from Capture One in Lightroom.

You must first save as a TIF or JPG in Capture One. If you perform the backup so that keywords are included in the saved file, then yes Lightroom will recognize them.

  • Irretrievably broken Lightroom - move to Capture One?

I had six months of lightroom crashes and zero bugs. Now I can't even use it to capture images of a new RX10iii from SONY.

Fortunately, sony provided a free version of Phase One Capture One that works very well. I have seven years of images in Lightroom, but I see that Capture it will import the Lightroom files.

Thanks for the link dynamiclinkmanager. After almost 6 months of work with Adobe engineers, I have a solution. I removed the link dynamics and problems Manager preferences went. I upgraded to lightroom 6.6.

Maddening even how long I spent with technicians and none ever looked at crash logs 0 just my system. Even the solution to the problem has multiple users to make suggestions. This is an easy solution - the fact that person at Adobe never found it is scary.

I had been looking for messages from the forum on the link manager but has used his app name which is three words scramble.

  • Is it possible to import Raw files into the LR catalog...... including all changes in an external file raw editor such as Capture One?

Is it possible to import Raw files into the LR catalog...... including all changes in an external file raw editor such as Capture One?

I can import the Raw file successfully, but can't see all the changes that have been applied in Capture One. IM assuming not, but just to check.

Your assumption is correct, Capture One, Lightroom and other third party raw processors have their own exclusive process and profiles to render the raw data.

They do not make permanent changes to the raw data and save changes to a .xmp file or to a Lightroom catalog file.

  • How is - a matter of Capture One Pro 7.0 files in Lightroom 5.3?

I'm trying to import CR2 of Capture One Pro 7.0 files in Lightroom 5.3. I've done this before, but this time this LR5 does not see the files but I know they are there.

OK, I have communicated poorly. I realize that the CR2 files came from my Canon camera. I made the assumption that the question had something to do with the files in a folder of Capture One. There is no sense to me why I could view the files in a finder window. I had too many images in subfolders to drag-and - drop or move them. They were organized in subfolders Capture One of the shoot.

I also realize that the files are no more in Capture One, while they are in LR.

Just after I posted this, I decided to quit LR and restart my computer.

    Problem solved.

No idea what it was, but it is questionable.

Thank you two for the answer.

  • Migration of opening of Capture One Pro 9?

I always like to Aperture 3.  And I don't want to leave.   But I thought that I better before it becomes incompatible with a future upgrade of the OS.  I checked Lightroom and Capture One Pro 9.    The latest looks near the opening.  And you can import Aperture referenced or unmanaged libraries.   I made a few very small (< 200 images) and it works great scans, versions, metadata transfer.

But that is the problem.  My main Aperture libraries are about 10K - 40K images each.   When I try to import one of these all are important but then the Capture One Pro (from here call C1) crashes during preview generation.

I tried to split the libraries in pictures 2-5 K.   Still crashes.  I used the opening to rebuild the database from the library, I tried libraries managed and referenced, I have searched and deleted all files "offline."

I know this is a community of support for opening, but we all have to leave the opening at some point.  I guess many of you have made the leap and many of you have successufly jumped to C1.

For those of you who did this did you also have a problem like mine and how solve you this problem.

    Thank you

Did you test if opening can render previews? You can have a picture of your library file that is corrupted and cannot be processed.

By exporting a test of Aperture library, and then delete all the previews of this library and let Aperture generate new preview. Can opening return the previews? To remove the opening previews use the menu "Photos" in the opening.

    If so, repeat migration.

I have not yet tried the migration, but the opening may also crash when rendering of previews. Maybe you can isolate the problem in opening.

  • Capture One Pro 9

I've been procrastinating my opening to move away from. Which means, I always use the it.

I tried Lightroom. (bought, learned, used...) But I was not really happy with it. I was thinking that LR has probably been my best option for obvious reasons. Recently, I decided to Capture One Pro at a glance. I reached to her earlier, but he never really gave the effort I made to LR.

So I downloaded Capture One Pro 9. I also looked at some tutorials, the understanding of the user interface, how to import, shoot and manipulate a workflow detailed images to edit images.

Importing, slaughtering, export of images in C1 is very impressive. Lots of options and not as hard to use. Some differences in the termonlogy, but seems like a lot of functionality. I didn't, I might be impressed with the export feature, but I was.

The RAW processing engine is good. Handles C1 RAW images from my Fuji X - T1 significantly better than Aperture.

The ability to work with adjustment layers is optimal. I assume that since they are not a program like Photoshop, they do not have to worry about overlap. C1 is obviously not a replacement for PS

The interface is more like the opening of LR. Tabs allows you to move its features, similar to the three tabs Aperture. C1 has only three legs, but it is highly customizable. A large part of the user interface is highly customizable. You can show/hide tabs and add/remove features in tabs to create the best environment and workflow for you. Unlike LR, which is much more rigid.

You can import catalogs of the opening, even if I have not yet tried.

Above all, do not take my word for it. If you are still looking for a replacement of the opening, then I suggest that you take a look at some of the videos out there on Capture One Pro. Specifically, some of Capture One Pro webinars. They are published by the developer of the C1, Phase One. They are very comprehensive, was one of those I've watched an hour of time. While this may seem like too much time to invest in the software by looking at, I found that it was the only way to really understand what can do the SW. I read too many short articles comparing C1 to LR and aperture. Who are too brief to understand whether or not it will work for you.

I'll make the trip to C1. But I thought I'd post here for all users who have been useful for me to the thread of the time that I used the aperture opening. (no offense to all LR users, there are a lot)

I too have anxiety of separation of Aperture :-( I've always had opening since the beginning as well as Lightroom since its design as well. Always the lightroom updated to help friends etc... but mostly does all my work in opening, with detours to Photoshop if necessary and or other fact sheets...

Like you, I also tried capture one pro many versions ago... but not really has afford her cradle for daily use.

Lightroom, I think I've kept loaded on my machines out of curiosity of how it developed and what new it might be able to do... but always found living in Aperture. Since the announcement of the opening closing its doors I really tried to live outside launch to bring something back that I shot and downloaded all the applications of the trial, I read on perfect Photo Suite... that I bought... and I think I see thumbnail preview of my folders for projects of which openings copycat is what made me try , but still jumped immediately to the opening. Then exotic app above afterwards Pro2, DXO Optics Pro, 3 Mac skins Acdesee new exhibition and probably a few others I've forgotten, and finally, like you, I decided to download Capture One Pro 9. I too have a Fuji XT-1 and immediately noticed the way that C1 Pro manages its files and fell in love with the FIRST edition, layers, shadows and also the color control. Tab is a bit like the opening, but really want the interface had better spacing as Aperture, but also a picture view beautiful project. This is a feature that I will miss strongly. So far I have only imported about 6 projects Pro CP1 and have my lightroom always pointing to all my images from my Ref drive which I use for CP1 and opening. I've spent the last 3 weekends watching the video library on the Web site of the first phase of for the capture of a pro... and still debating Sessions or the catalog or both :-(somewhat of a draw to this topic... Opening this is really a game child and this is the greatest sorrow of love, if I Capture One my way get them all... these impressive images of research out of the environment and on places like iCloud photo library. or photo stream as opening... really wish there was some integration going on C1. PhotoVia by ON1 is a nice way of distance to see your images in Lightroom... path but a little longer if you use C1.

So to summarize. Capture One Pro 9 has invested me enough that I signed up for the cloud version on a monthly basis. I still have a few trips back to app opening accompanied, as my picture of affinity, intensify, Aurora HDR, Pshop and certainly the stuff like photo stream, dropbox, google reader... cloud photo via... etc... As brings you more images in the C1 Pro and I try to import a library of my opening soon, but really hoping for some features of Aperture fall into something that we can all use.

  • Importing and organizing photo files lightroom 5 for the first time. Clean photo hard drive files

I have a trial version of lightroom 5 and would like one once and forall to restore order to my two drives hard and lightroom 5 collection. Some photos in lightroom 5 seem to have lost their way. Some are in folders of Windows 7 and others are 9 elements. I made backup copies of some records and would like to have a more systematic approach to save them in the future. I have a NAS (network access storage) device and an additional hard drive, I thought that it would be better to use my cell phone as main for my photo files working memory such that it would be faster to work with the NAS or external and then again everything down to the NAS and external. I consider that the main challenge group all files and as much as possible to preserve the sides I gave photos; I would like to eliminate duplicats. on both the hard drive and in lightroom. I watched one of the vidios of initial training on the 'library' of the adobe help section and the presenter talked about two ways to import photos. the first and I think that I will use in the future is to open lightroom and import from the SD directly rather than having the Windows 7 import, and then ask to lightroom to find them. If anyone Kow of an exhaustive enumeration of the instructions on how to clean up my hard drives that would be extremely useful? Peter

I doubt that it is a list of instructions to wipe a hard drive, because each starting situation is different and your 'own' is probably very different than my "clean".

But let's clear up a few things first. From your writings, it seems that you think that you have stored pictures in post-secondary education and photos stored in LR. This is not correct. None of these programs to store your photos. All your pictures are on your hard drive, in folders, somewhere.

Regarding the missing photos in Lightroom, when you move or rename your photos and folders outside of the Lightroom, Lightroom doesn't know where they are and bring back them as being absent. To fix it, see: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm related to that, you don't want to 'clean up' things in Windows and also "clean things" upward in Lightroom. Instead, once you import photos into Lightroom, you must do all the managing photos in Lightroom, not Windows, otherwise you'll just create several missing files.

Regarding duplicates, Lightroom has some tools to detect duplicates. He will try to prevent duplicates during the import, and if you are unable to import duplicates, you can use the "auto stack by Capture time" to try to find additional duplicates. But if those who do not work, then're it pretty much on your own.

With regard to put photos on your laptop to work on them rather than on your external hard drive, I think you will find that this gives a fraction of a second speed improvement that you may even not notice, which will be offset by the time you spend moving somewhere else photos when finished. So just put the photos in their final destination on your external HD or a NAS file and don't bother moving them to the internal HD.

Which leads to another point. Once you have done this 'cleaning', your workflow should be to put the photos in a place and then do not transfer! (Exception: not enough space on the disk or moving to another drive/computer) Make your life easier as possible.

One last point: seriously consider using keywords and other metadata for the Organization, rather than move photos/files from here to there, to reach the organization. These tools in Lightroom will give you the possibility of organizing in a much more powerful and flexible organization and what you can do by moving the photos/files from here to there. (Note: If you want all the photos in a sort of centralized location because it meets your storage needs, can do that because it meets your storage needs.) In this collection of photos in a centralized location, using keywords and other metadata to achieve organization and research)

  • import of the bridge to lightroom

    Hello

I wanted to synk my Bridge and Lightroom photos but unfortunately I imported the photos in one folder lightroom. I have now lost all photos of 2000 a number of files "that are now empty" in Bridge and they are now all in a single folder in Lightroom. The "Undo Move" option was not available in Bridge. Manually move each photo back to my records of bridge would be an option, but remember that all these pictures were the record will not be.

Can anyone help with this please.

    Thank you very much

    Paul

    Hi Paul,.

I don't think that so there will be an option to cancel it, I guess that you had selected the option "Move" when importing images into Lightroom.

So now you must manually sort the images.

  • Is Capture One a good alternative to LR?

First of all I would like to say hello, as this is my first post here.

Hi, I use LR for a few years now. Recently, I downloaded trail of Capture one, and I found that it is very well done. Now, I am bit confused with my preferences, I stay with LR or move to Capture One? Big advantage for me, it's that in C1, there is no need to import pictures to the catalog (is there a catalog at all). Can you describe your experience working with the two applications over time please?

First: SereneMajestic seems to have zero knowledge on Capture One - you can ignore his position...

I have both LR and CO

CO is about 10,000 times faster than LR in each task. It's like a family car against a Ferrari.

This is one of my big questions I have with LR. 1:1 rendering for example is agonizing slow in LR. 1000 pictures to take several hours. In CO 15 minutes...

CO has not built in digital management engine. These functions are more basic.

However, you do not really miss catalog stuff, because it manages files RAW/JPG 100,000 without flinching.

Integration of CO in PhotoShop is quite poor. PS plugins cannot be used in CO at all, which makes me sick - I like the NIK plugins.

CO or better Phase One recently acquired Microsoft Expression Media - old iView - it is one of the best (affordable) media management systems out there. It is now well integrated on CO. This tandem will give Adobe some serious headaches, particularly in the European market. LR and bridge cannot compete with that

Image quality is as good as with LR IMHO. CO support team is very good and they respond very quickly also. However, the community around the world is much smaller. They also have a very unique allocation policy.

I'd download the trial for the CO and the new Media Pro and give it a whirl.

I'll stick with LR, hoping for version 4. If Adobe can improve performance, I could use CO more often again...

    Hope that helps.

  • Pictures of extensions: Capture One Pro 9?

Capture One Pro 9 can be used as an extension to pictures, and if so, if someone tried?

Ask the author - that they need the software to add it as an extension and then they have to be approved by apple - they only know the status of this process - if their documentation does not indicate that it contains extensions for Photos, then this probably isn't

I'm not an apple person.  I read on a few different forums that apple has changed what is called 'writing' in a recent update to apple.  You may need to find an Apple expert to show you how to make sure you are allowed to write to files or locations on your computer.

  • import a web gallery for Lightroom in Lightroom 4 6

Import a web gallery for Lightroom in Lightroom 4 6?

A model or a gallery over with images?

Models may or may not be retro-compatible - according to the style of the gallery. New styles of Gallery (HTML5) are not compatible with older versions.

Finished galleries would be retro-compatible - you will need to send the images as DNG back to a 4 Lightroom Catalog and build things in return from scratch.

In general, it is very difficult to go back even a version - and still less two.

  • I downloaded the trial version of Lightroom on my MacBook running El Capitan. I get the following message appears when you try to import photos: your update of Lightroom 6.3.0 drive to which you import images is low

I get the following message appears when you try to import photos: your update of Lightroom 6.3.0 drive to which you import images space is low. Delete files or empty the trash to make at least 250 MB available before continuing. ??? What it means? I'm not using a disc, a have a lot of space on my Mac.

Of course, you use a disk. When you import, you place a copy of your photos on your computer's hard drive (or external hard drive). The meaning of the error message seems very clear. What part of this do you not understand?

  • Could not import my Canon G3X to Lightroom

I bought a Canon G3X for when I want a small camera.  Only, I shoot in raw, but I can't import my files into Lightroom 5.  What should I do?

    Hi dmmarquette,

Canon G3 X images are supported in Lightroom 6.1.1 and above, and for this reason, you are not able to import in Lightroom 5.

Reference article: supported by Adobe Camera Raw devices

You can switch to Lightroom 6 or download Adobe DNG Converter to convert raw to DNG images and import the DNG files into Lightroom 5.

    Kind regards
