import of physical node of mySQL DRBD in ESXi

I had quite a ride of roller coaster, import a couple of db servers.  I knew they were in failover configuration, but I thought wrongly that DRBD had not been used, or has been moved away from.  The reason why I thought that it is, stop mySQL on the primary, he converted and still saw a (very small) database file in the directory of data files.  It wasn't until I fired once again the physical servers that I saw the DRBD partition mount!

Anyway, I don't really need to keep HA/DRBD passes at the OS level.  Is there guidance to get rid of it?  On the other hand, I don't want to commit too much work or now, I get that this migrated (and 40 other machines) fairly quickly!

I think I might just chance leaving the current heart rate of execution, with mysql active, but these are InnoDB tables, so I think that if there is no incompatibility, he will have a major impact.

If not, then how can I do?  If I stop mysql again, until I manually mount the DRBD partition somewhere, then converter will pick up and copy data, right?  So I guess I could copy in/var/lib/mysql (the default directory, but also when the heart rate was mounting the drbd too - makes it quite confusing for me).

Would that be enough?  Another thing I think by doing this?  I don't want to hire more downtime for this db Server I already have, and looking around really gave a lot (more along the lines of people who WANT to implement DRBD, import don't away or not it entirely).

EDIT: the only other thing I'm going to do is to manually assign the IP address that was previously "floating" between nodes and run the beating of my heart, assuming that I follow the path of heartbeat to run in place.

The other thing that I wasn't sure about is whether mysql needs to be reinstalled if the heartbeat will not start it upward.  I guess that's always the same thing, but for some reason any when I tried to start it manually, it would not allow me to connect locally to the mysql console.  I guess that was due to data bases that she was absent from the DRBD partition (although again, some base tables were always there, even in this case, I could see when I started it without integrity checks).

I know that this whole "issue" is a bit Open ended, but since I spent so much time and need to get some rest now, I tried to put all my details, just in case where someone has had this EXACT experience!  If this isn't the case, I'll update this after trying different ways to accomplish something viable.

OK, so I was able to get it done easily once I realized all the pieces that are underway:

1 stop the heartbeat service

2. stop mysql

3 stop drbd (permanently, using chkconfig - no need for it to autostart)

4. establish an interface alias to serve the "floating" IP on the appropriate NETWORK card

5. install the unit (to find first using fdisk - l) where mysql has been searching its data (in this case, "/ var/lib/mysql ')

6. check data are visible here (I also tried to launch mysql first to see if it worked without drbd and heartbeat involved and as expected, he did)

7 convert!

Sucks, I had to go through two conversions that 'successful' but were not viable, but in the end, it is not difficult.  Just was not thought to check the partition/disk drbd.  Part of my checklist before the migration is to check for frames, but due to the simple fact that I stop mysql first, I missed the first time around and he didn't find out until two attempts later!  Hope someone saves some time.

  • Export profiles on URM and import the physical metadata

    Dear all,

I want to ask is there any menu to export and import the physical metadata and profiles on the management of records (URM)?

I already try the Migration Admin Config menu but seems that only contained metadata could export and import in this menu.

Is there someone never export and import metadata and profile?

    Best regards

    Hi Charly,

For metadata, access files - Import / Export - Archives - physical related objects.

There, the option to include custom metadata PCM is what you are looking for.

  • Physical serial ports are supported in ESXi?

Physical serial ports are supported in ESXi?  I install Windows 2008 SBS on a HP Proliant ML350 G6 ESXi (version of stick USB HP) running. The server comes with a serial port on board.  I was hoping that connect an external modem and expose it to the virtual server, Windows SBS 2008 to serve as a network fax.  Is this possible? Alternatives if not supported?

    It would be a no.

There are TCP/IP USB devices, do not know if there are similar devices for the series, but NO physical devices, sound cards, usb, parallel, series can be transmitted to a virtual machine.  That's because ESX uses vmotion, and it was designed to let the virtual machine move between machines, so allowing physical connections so would interfere with this operation.

  • How to import the selected tables from MySQL to Oracle

    Hello world:

How can I import tables from MySQL to Oracle? I have more than 180 tables in my DB (MySQL), but I copy only 12 of them to ORACLE... rigth now I do it manually, using SQL Developer (rigth clicking on the picture icon and copy to Oracle) but now I need to do this automatically every 4 hours...

I read on the dblink option, but I don't know if this is the best for this case...

    I appreciate all help.

    Best regards
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

I think that with a db-link you can define an automated task (PL/SQL + programmer).
We use a db-link to Oracle's RDBMS to MySQL. So we have no experience.
We have created the db-link like http://www.pythian.com/news/1554/how-to-access-mysql-from-oracle-with-odbc-and-sql/

  • MD3000, 1 physical node, 1 guestm - via MSCS cluster vm

    Hey all,.

New to VMware, 5 days or more.  Had no problems until the cluster of files.  I read a lot of suggestion on the site before joining, but curious experience to relevant question.

    2 knots 2950, md3000, MSCS - all good

    Off of passive node

Configured VM Guest, added Vswitch for physical nic, these NICs to the guest. (did not VMkernal to create the switch as if I did it, on behalf of the network, my created switch was not available in the drop-down list) I thought I had to creatre switch VMkernal for NFS to work... for the connection to the MD3000.

So, added the static IP to nic on guest, a LAN, a cluster link. Added to the cluster - success

Reanalysis in and SAS5E listed in ESX adapeter. and displays the LUN on current MD3000 3 which I would like to connect.

Now its time for RDM... correct?

When you try to mount LUNS to guest, no available RDM... it is grayed out?

Said also that it is due to the md3000 already data container and NTFS already.

Any suggestions on this played out scenerio is appreciated.

    G

For MD3000, the only solution is the first: create (or add) a Virtual disk, give the host, rescan storage adapters and add the raw disk to the VM node.

  • Import/Export physical model 3.0.0.665 Build 665

I have several patterns (logical and physical models) database created in Data Modeler 1.0. I thought I could just import the .xml [database] recorded in the Data Modeler 3.0 file migrated all my data Data Modeler 1.0. However, this method imported everything except the physical model. I also tried to import the XML in the subdirectory pm, but that was an error ("could not generate design.")

I tried explicitly export towards the design of data model, but I can only see the logical and relational models. There is no physical model in the list of objects to export.

Is this a bug? Or is there another method to migrate all data from Data Modeler 1.0 to 3.0?

    Gail Binkley
    Stanford

You can use version 3.0 to open version 1.x (file-> open). The tool will do a conversion/upgrade automatically in the drawing or model. Then you perform a save as to save the improved design. There is no need to do an export and import process.

  • Import database objects / metadata since MySQL fails

    Hello

After my first problem with OWB and MySQL has been resolved (see connection MySQL with OWB 11 GR 2 results in "access denied for user ' ), I have a new problem and I could not solve so far and I hope someone can help me. I already looked for patches, but I have not found a patch for my problem. I use OWB 11 g Release 2 on a Linux client.

The connection with the database MySQL is working, but I can't import the metadata. When I test the connection, I should be able to select the corresponding schema, but there is no displayed schema. Even when I get the schema manually it does not. I assured the MySQL settings are correct and that rights to the schema are available to the user. Still, I'm trying to import metadata, I get the following error message: "user-defined metadata interface definitions are invalid" (translated from the German, so it could be written different in the English version of OWB)
I checked the settings in OWB, then I joined also the location in the control center. OWB locations are also implemented. What can I do to fix this?

    Hi Joerg

    Can you try to do what follows from the root OMBPlus "/" context;

Change the path to your path, it is a file that should exist on your drive after the db OWB/11 GR 2 installed.
    OMBALTER CMI_DEFINITION 'MYSQL' USE DEFINITION_FILE ' / product/11.2.0/owb_pcd/owb/reposasst/miv_generic.xml'

If this succeeds, perform an OMBCOMMIT

You can then retry the first request he should be of rows returned. Then you can start OWB and try the import.

    See you soon

  • Minimum rights to import a physical host to vCenter?

We have a bunch of vSphere size mid with several pools of resources for this. We have several customers with virtual machines running on it and sought to P2V several servers in a pool of resources. They are admins consumer pool, store data and network, and read-only for the data center and hosts (but not spread downwards), and yet they get an error at the end, after selecting the data store saying that it can't find the list of resources. The pool, to which they have admin rights is at the root level, not a member of another pool.

I'm able to import the machine than I am with no problems, so I'm pretty sure it's a matter of rights on the side of vCenter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want a game more explicit of permissions, they must be defined in the datacenter and propagated.  See the Manual:

    Hello

I had a problem on a UCS B200 M4 blade. the blade contains 2 physical CPU E5-2660 [email protected] (10 carrots each)

ESXi 5.5 u2 (with or without custom image cisco) installed successfully.

But ESXi 5.5 see 4 physical CPU with 5 cores of each instead of the 2 physical.

I have no idea why, maybe the bios features but do not know which?

    Someone has an idea?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Is the question on the community of cisco. It seems that the E5 v3 adds a new feature called COD (Cluster on Die).

Unfortunately this feature is not supported by VMware for now (even in u2 5.5).

It is possible to disable in the bios.

  • import of existing VMS in the new install ESXi

    Hi all!

I'll put up a new ESXi server and in the process some scenarios of DR.  In this case... out of the sd card.  I have ESXi 4.1 installed on an SD card (it's an approved HP one) and I tried cloning of the card to the other to have a backup, but has not then I reinstalled ESXi on the second SD card.  Now that I have a new installation of ESXi, I can see existing data warehouses and the virtual machines.  I tried to use the stand-alone converter and I can connect to the server, but it cannot see the virtual machine.  How can I import them into this new facility?  This requires vCenter?  I have a license for vCenter but I have not yet installed.

    Thank you

Right-click on the data store, and then select Browse the data store. Navigate through folders of the virtual computer. Right-click on the VMX file and add to the inventory.

  • Additional physical network adapters on host VMware ESXi 3.5

I would like to add additional physical network cards to host VMware ESX 3.5 (update 3). I installed two PCIe Intel NIC (E1G42ET) server for the HP ProLiant DL 380 G5 server. Both NIC cards recognized by the BIOS of the server.

After you connect to the VMware VI Client I can't see or add new maps.

In addition, new non-visible material in the host ESX console.

You are not sure if the drivers of NETWORK interface card must be installed manually?

    Hello

VMware ESX is NOT Linux, there a GNU/Linux management machinery... ESXi is not even there a device for managing Posix. Drivers for Linux won't work with ESX or ESXi. If the card is not without the HCL for ESX/ESXi, then it won't work with ESX/ESXi. Usually not in list HCL implies VMware doesn't have a driver yet for this card. All drivers must come from VMware ESX and ESXi recognize the hardware.

  • Import into MySQL

I'm going through the book tutorial "Dreamweaver CS5 - classroom in a book" and chapter 14, they provide a folder with the files to add to the database MySQL, which works very well. But they don't tell you * how * import the data or file to import. Previously, I did an online tutorial of David powers Adobe, with a single file to be imported imported fine in MySQL.

The, they tell you to copy to your site in a Greendata folder contains the files:
    classes.frm

    classes. MYD

    classes. MYI

    DB.opt

    eco_tour.frm

    eco_tour. MYD

    eco_tour. MYI

    Events.frm

    events. MYD

    events. MYI

    Products.frm

    products. MYD

    products. MYI

I'm just getting started with MySQL and don't want to mess up the database by making an error, so I'm hoping it's a simple way to import this data into the MySQL database - what they do * not * tell you in the book!

    See you soon,.
