Import of Word 2007 paragraphs numbered in FrameMaker 10

When I import files in word 2007 in FrameMaker (using windows 7 pro) 10 numbering all go back to 1. What is the right way to import Word files for numbering lists keep them formatted correctly?

I import into FrameMaker to open them in the File (file-> open) menu. It seems to copy the word files in FrameMaker and I prefer import them by reference, so I have to manually update the information twice.

When I try to import by reference (file-> import-> file), only one not editable 'photo' of imports, that will not allow that any changes of numbered lists.

What's a guy to do?

Thanks for your help.

From the "wrong number" in Utah!

When you import by reference, you say FM to use the paratags of the FM document that is imported on the content or use the Word document to control the visible formatting (and therefore automatic numbering) of the insert text?

If you use the FM paratags, you have a paratag corresponding FM (which is spelled exactly the same as the Word style applied to the list) that has the value to increment the numbering of your paragraphs list in Word?

  • Import a Word file, the numbers do not continue after an image

We import large Word files that are full of paintings step/Action with pictures that separate tables. Here is the output of another tool files. RH5 that importation of tables and numbers are hard coded - they are not the numbers of HR, but are all there.

In the first RH7 table has a 1 in the step column and it is numbered article HR. The table has 2 rows - a header and a single line stage. An image of the screen is displayed below. Then the table 2nd step/Action.

In the 2nd table... and all the tables below the 'Step' column is empty in the line where the number should appear. The header is fine. All of the text in the title of the Action is very good. But the number of step is missing.

These files have anywhere from 20-100 + steps. It is a major issue for us. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix/change? For the moment, we are hand numbering... not everything simply will not work as a long-term solution.

All suggestions are accepted with gratitude!

Peter solved this problem! The answer is to save the file in Word as 'filtered Web page. " This apparently changes the auto-numeros in hard-coded numbers and they import perfectly. BLESS, PETER! • try to set the margins of a paragraph by simply dragging the limit margin and place it where I want. It works well in the old version. It won't work in Word 2007

Word 2007 is so screwed up, I may never buy another MS product again.

How can I move paragraph simply margins to where I want without a HUGE concern?

  • Tagging in Word 2007, Acrobat XI, page numbers not working not

I have a Word 2007 docx file I am trying to convert it to a PDF file with active marking.  It converts to PDF very well, but once converted marking does not work.  Specifically, I'm trying reach the table of contents for the page tag on correlated pages numbers.  The only reason I can think that it does not is that page numbers in the footer of a Word.  I tried enabling all options of marking, but the page numbers will not be yet to score.  Any ideas?  Oh, I'm using Acrobat XI, 11.0.9.  Attached are the screenshots of my settings.

    1.jpg2.jpg

So, thanks to a student C pointing me in the right direction, I found the answer to this question.  Acrobat keys off the coast of the Table of contents in Word to create clickable items.  Go to Word and go (I use Word 2007 in this example) references > summary > Add Table of contents.  I'm doing this from memory, so the steps may be slightly off.  Then you must select the parameters as indicated below and when the PDF is created, it will create a clickable table of contents.  This is what worked for me.  Good luck to anyone else.

  • Imported Word buleted and numbered list - CS5

    Hello

I work with ID CS5 on Windows XP pro

Under Type > bulleted and numbered list > set list, I find hundreds of 'any word list' that I did not creat

I guess it has been imported with the word I drop workd

Is it possible to prevent it.

I have about 200 lists in each of my 10 docs, is there a reasonable way to delete these lists?

When you import a word file, I import I use followiing preferences:

    ID 2.jpg

    Thanks in advance

    Tamir

    word imported list.jpg

    What I do is:

    1. I create own style in InDesign, I put them also in the specific folder

    2. I import the Word file with styles in InDesign

    3. now, I delete Word styles and replace them with my styles ID.

It gives me more control over the imported styles as styles of marking or eqally using named styles. Both would do it, but I've experienced this after each export that is added a new style of Word, it is almost impossible to get the automatic style markup.

  • Import of Word list

    Work on:

I am importing the word text in my InDesign document. The original file is made up of questions and sub questions which the latter are indicate by a list indicating 'a' (Question 1, a, b, c,...). The final product is an indesign document with the same structure of list.

    Problem:

When I import the text from Word, new lists (including new styles which I have indicated) follow the original order of counting (each question has its own set of sub-questions). Word is now putting a lot of stuff allong with the import so I would only get rid of the "waiver". Because I work in a large document, the best way to do 'selects all of the text", then use" replace clear "in the pane menu. It works fine, also the fact that all the sub-questions are now regarded as being part of a "fixed" list Everything I try, I cannot get rid of this and return the State preferred lists: a list by issue.

    Question:

I tried all the options available in the palette of style under "paragraph style options"), although I have problems understanding the levels in the list. I guess a requairement should be only him "restart numbers at this level after...". "must bechecked. What I can see, is that the drop-down list offers a long list of "Word imported # the list." As I see it, it contains specifications of the word list.

My question is: How can I get my separate list without having to do a deed of your time by selecting each list? I want to either solve this problem in the style options or the Word document.

    I'd appreciate an idea!

    AlienJoeri wrote:

I tried your suggestion of Ctrl + 6, but without any result whatsoever.

There is Nothing? It's quite a surprise. (You're on Windows? On a Mac, I guess that's Cmd + 6, as usual. Did you actually select all the text, as I mentioned?)

    AlienJoeri wrote:

.. The thing is that I need all the styles incorporated into the Word to be there document for import into InDesign (5.5). ... Conversion of text to clear is not an option for me.

This converts the automatic bullets and numbering in plain text-"clear" in this sense, it is normally entexte, not 'ordinary' as "unformatted".

    AlienJoeri wrote:

What bothers me, is the fact that the initial import DOES contain the right list, when I start to clean things, it disappears and I have no idea on how to get it back or the separate individual lists.

Well, if import staff works for you, you can always try one of these two:

    1. in the Word Import Options dialog box, set ID convert bullets & numbering in plain text.

    or

    2. right after importation, and above all, all pick and choose "Convert bullets and numbering to text" in the paragraph Panel menu.

  • Bug? Tags accessibility conversion from Word 2007

This seems to be a minor problem, but it is one that could create a lot of frustration for a disabled person using a screen reader to read tabular data in a PDF document.

As you know, Acrobat plays well with applications Office allowing users to create (structured) tags, accessible PDFs from MS Office files. I just created a simple docx file with a (attached) table, and when I converted it to PDF, I noticed a difference in the tags that it creates from the conversion of Word XP. As see you in the Word file, the table is very basic, but one of its column headings is divided into two cells. It's actually a very common technique for the presentation of the data in the table. To automatically mark as cells of table header < TH > header lines in the PDF file, I put the first two lines of "Repeat header lines."

Conversion from Word 2007 with the "Save as Adobe PDF", or any other method that uses the Acrobat plugin, creates a tree of tag that is missing a < TH > tag. I found the problem when I was testing a file with the JAWS screenreading software. Using the JAWS "active cell" command (Ctrl-Alt-Numpad 5) to announce the column headings. It reads the wrong header for the active cell because of the < TH > missing. So, in my example file, he announced $2 and $5 as amount 2010 rather than 2009. This could be quite confusing for a user, to say the least screen reader.

Then, I compared the result to the new feature "Save as PDF or XPS" from Word 2007. This feature of the tag of the file properly and header to the height columns.

Compare the joint "save-as-adobe - pdf.gif" to "Save-as-pdf - xps.gif. Note the < TH > tag empty (but necessary) in the image of the latter.

As a validation test, I had a colleague with Word XP the file convert. These tags were right too. So this must be a problem between Acrobat and Word 2007.

Someone at - it further comments on this? I'll conduct accessibility training and at the present time, it seems that the use of the Word 2007 conversion feature is the way to go.

    I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro.

    Hey Joe,

I feel your frustration. For any organization that needs or wants to commit to providing accessible information online
a serious logistics problem raises its head. PDF, HTML, what is the right way to do (and it's possible)
requires more resources (training, knowledge, hardware, software, changes to work flow, perhaps some staff members more).
Is not "work smarter with less & pump more" in this place.

Yes, it is useful (and necessary) for 'being one' with the 'paragraphs' - WCAG 1.0 - WCAG 20 S508.
However, as soon as someone starts to provide PDF files which must be 'accessible' the first, most important reference is ISO 32000.
The references of PDF from Adobe, which preceded the PDF becomes an ISO standard are useful; but ISO 32000 is the norm.
In this documentation, there is a full discussion of what he * needs to be done to provide an accessible PDF.
Without a good understanding of this content, other information tend to bring about a de-escalation of focus opacity, which can
contribute to conceptual errors important view accessible PDF.

Ah, but what would say Judy justice or judge Marily?
Efficiency does not provide a product of the "whole".
I doubt it will ever be a "one-click" seamless between the dominant products of one of the software houses.
They are competitors intense. That it is not others providing provide a product of 'whole', right?
For example, if the organization wants to 'make accessible PDFS' label then it pays transport costs - Adobe Pro, training, workflow appropriate, etc.
which allow the delivery of PDF files meet the standards to which formed a well containing the tag output is PDF (accessible is a subset of this).
There is no other way for PDF.
If this cannot be done so there are always HTML as an acceptable method (for some it's the way privileged and only 'true').

However, HTML is 'right' for accessiblilty is just as demanding in its own way.

With each version of TA / dot release, JAWS - Windows Eyes - NVDA & others hone in on using PDF ISO 32000 Standard closer.
This means that if you deploy "accessible" PDF, you will need to provide PDFS who live ISO.
Do not forget that the paragraphs of S508 began when, in fact, HTML was 'it '. In terms of software that has been there are geological ages.
For contemporary AT effectively analyze the PDF, the PDF file must be a PDF containing the tag well trained with a format/layout that reflects a logical hierarchy.
Creation of all that it should start in the environment of creation with the author of the content.
PDF post-processing output then ensures that the elements (tags) PDF are of the correct type, have the required attributes, etc..
Without this, AT will not be able to provide the use of effect for the end user of the PDF file.

So, for AT correctly 'work' the PDF file, elements of * must * have set the Scope attribute, values of row value and scope of column defined, etc..

Scope, line Span, range column, ID of the Table and headers must be added in the framework of the post-processing in a PDF using Acrobat Professional.
An alternative is the plugin Netcentric CommonLook for Acrobat Professional. What it does, Acrobat Pro can do; However, the CommonLook
provides a robust user interface. Disadvantage: some 1 k $ per seat is not 'cheap' and it has a * steep learning curve * (Sitka Pass?).

  • Word 2007 to save problem

When I go to save a Word Document in Word 2007, navigate to where I want to save the document via the check-in box and the only thing that appear in this place are the folders, even though I know that there are already other Word documents at this location. I do not use the generic location of My Documents XP, but when I did it with Word 2003 Word documents, but also records would be present. I really need to see these documents pre-existingWord I save everything new, because these are numbered files and I need to know what number to save this last Word doc as... I hope that this explanation makes sense, thank you for your time of Pedro.

As you know, Microsoft has changed the format of the Office between Office 2003 and Office 2007 files.  These formats are not compatible with each other - but new versions of Office programs can read, edit and save files in the old version if you wish.  Older versions of Office programs need the installation of free "Office Compatibility Pack" to treat the files saved in the new format.

Most recent format files have an x at the end of the file name extension, as in document.docx or spreadsheet.xlsx

    See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/introduction-to-new-file-name-extensions-HA010006935.aspx

If you look carefully at the dialog box "save under", you will notice that located under the box 'File name' is a box of "Save as type".  By default, the new versions of Word and Excel defined the 'Save as type' to the new format, that is, "(*.docx) Word document" or "Excel workbook (*.xlsx).  The files listed in the dialog box are files that are the same as the "Save as type".

Thus, if you want to see your old Word documents in the dialog box, change the "Save as type" to "Word 97-2003 document (* .doc).

But beware: Word 2007 (or Excel 2007) saves the file in the format that you specify, so be sure that you specify a format you want.

I uninstalled the steps and it made no difference so I reinstalled and opened. Then he did the same as before. How can I get my programs back to default here?
This problem started as soon as I updated my Windows 7 - 32 bit - please help. :(

    Hello mattyboy1212,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

Try these steps and see if you can associate the default programs. If they are associated with Word, and then change them to the correct program.

    1. click Start and then click Control Panel.

    2. click on programs link.

Note: If you see small icons or large icons in the control panel display, you will not see this link. Click on the default programs icon, and then click the link associated with a file type or Protocol with a program . Go to step 4.

    3. click on the link to Open a file in a specific program type always under default programs .

    4. in the set Associations window, scroll down until you see the file extension that you want to change the default for program.

    5. click on the extension of the file to select it, once you have found what you are looking for.

    6. click the button of change... program above the scroll bar.

The Open with dialog box should appear.

    7. look into options for programs recommended and choose the application you want to open it with the file extension when you double-click on the particular type of the file on your computer.

Note: Chances are, requests described under the programs recommended will be contain more programs for this type of file, but don't forget to look at the applications under other programs. You may need to click the v to expand the list of these programs.

Note: Click Browse... to search, through your computer for any program not shown do not want to use.

    8. click OK in the Open with window. Windows 7 is going to update the list of file associations to display the new default program to open this type of file.

    9. click the button close the bottom together associations . You can also close the window of the Control Panel if it is still open.

    10. at this stage, when you double-click on any file with this particular file extension, the program you partner in step 7 will launch and load the particular file.

Important: Program used to automatically open when these types of files have been launched will again open these types of files. To use a different program, you just need to start the program manually and then browse your computer for the file in particular.

If please reply back and let us know if know if it helped to solve your problem or if you still need help.

  • Access to Microsoft Office Word 2007

I have a HP Mini 311-1000 Netbook.  I bought it from Verizon with built in air card modem.  When I try to use Microsoft Office Word 2007 he asks me to put in my 25 digit product number.  I have the number as written on the label of microsoft on the back of my computer.  When I type the product numbers all he tells me is not correct.  Help, please. I tried different ways without result.

Thanks, this looks like the case.  I had something like 20 chances to use it before putting in the number.  I thought it came with the computer.  I'll just use works.  I don't need anything fancy.  I have another laptop that has Office on this subject.

  • Tag Word 2007 Acrobat, 'Create a PDF' Word crashes; two computers, Windows 7 and 10, Acrobat XI and DC

I had this problem for over a year but I had a few documents to create using Word 2007 add-in I need this ability to get links from the numbers in table of contents, cross-references and equation.  Both computers are running Windows 64 bit, both had the problem with Acrobat XI (and then Acrobat DC) running Windows 7 and now Windows 10.  Print to PDF works OK but no direct link, except that URLS are alive in the PDF file.  Documents are medium-sized, approximately 30 pages.  There's a period in December 2014 and 2015 at the beginning when I had some success with a document that had been systematically plant if I used the Word add-in.

In a machine I uninstalled Acrobat DC and re-installed Acrobat XI; no joy.  Simply, Word hangs immediately and returns without the Acrobat add-in.  I moved the paper to the other machine and tried with Acrobat DC, and it freezes.  There is a window of little info at the bottom of the main window of Word that says it paginates quickly on page 4 (from the table of contents, list of figures, list of tables, first page or two).  Then, it takes about 20 minutes per page.  The Adobe progress bar shows no progress, and the title bar says "Not responding."  Leave for hours is never past page 11.  Word of murder in the winks Task Manager it without saving dialog; He returned without the Acrobat add-in.

I use MathType 6 (current version) to my equations (many of them).  Both computers are very different; one is a laptop computer with four cores and 8 GB of RAM, the other a computer with 16 GB of RAM and eight cores.

Of course, I did all the steps of the first, as to ensure that the operating system and Acrobat are up-to-date, re-installing, fresh start, etc.  It's look like a problem of size of stack or heap of Acrobat, that makes no sense, because, well, new or malloc. There are a lot of free memory.  The laptop, dangling, uses a core (25% loading) and 26% of the 8 GB of RAM.

    Hi jkbeard,

    Try the steps below: -.

Check to see if that fixes the problem.

    Kind regards

  • Why does reference refers to duplicate import from Word?

Hello - I am importing a Word document with notes, and exhibitor numbers duplicate themselves. Where there should be a superscript "1" so it is an "11" Exhibitor - using Adobe InDesign CC Mac OSX 10.9.5 2014.

I can edit in story editor, one at a time and erase the numbers double, but there are hundreds of them.

    Thank you

    Grace

    Then, try this!
