Import Performance data in VMware Capacity Planner

VMware Capacity Planner has the ability to import performance data in data manager or you must collect data from performance via the Capacity Planner software?

Hello wgmaurerEMC,

You can collect data from target of UNIX and Linux machines running the CP shell on each target computer scripts

rather than run the scripts through the host of collector.

Please, see page 47 of the CP reference Guide attached on how to implement the manual execution of scripts.

Best regards

  • VMware Capacity Planner: Not enough data.

    Dear friends,

I have faced a problem with Vmware Capacity Planner. I get the error message no sufficient data not collected. But I can see nominative colleacted under the name of the company. I can view the files downloaded and processed inventory and performance. In addition, the report tab is not functional.

    Please do not advise.

    Thank you

    Pravesh

CP sends always properly deltas of the inventory of what I have seen in the past.

If you have added servers and they show OK in the report of missing data, then forcing a complete inventory should do the trick. The thing is that you must activate it in the right place. If you do a MANUAL synchronization, you must select the full inventory of strength under modules. If you wait for the next scheduled synchronization, you do it under scheduled tasks.

Ignore the suggestion of proxy. If some of the data is how to get there, then internet proxy settings are correct.

What operating system is supported for VMware Capacity Planner?

Capacity Planner requires Windows 2000 or 2003 with a system of operating language ASCII. The practice of VMware mandates us English Windows 200 x operating system as the best.

    Capacity Planner collects since Windows NT 3.51, NT 4.0, 2000, and 2003; Red Hat Linux 8 and 9 Enterprise Linux (ARE/AS/WS) 3 and 4; SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9; 9, 10 and 8 HP - UX 10.x, 11.0, 11.11, 11.22 (PA-RISC) and 11.23 (Itanium); and environments operating Solaris 7, 8, 9 and 10 (Sparc) and 9 and 10 (x 86). -in the FAQ Technical Capacity Planner

Belongs to VMware Capacity Planner virtual Center?

N ° as Yattong mentioned previously, there is a feature in VirtualCenter guided Consolidation.  This function serves a purpose similar to the Capacity Planner, but only with the guided Consolidation feature can not involved you an external partner.  If you want to use the Scheduler to full-on Capactiy, you need to associate a VMware partner to do this.  If you use a larger store, the Capacity Planner approach may be merit to be studied.  Otherwise, give the Consolidation guided to try first and see what you come up with.  Then you can decide whether or not to involve partners VMware.

    Good luck!

  • Strength of re - download all the data the Capacity Planner tool

    Hello

I have a situation where a colleague installed Capacity Planner on a site and left on for more than a month before having a capacity planner account in the warehouse of VMWare (optimize.vmware.com).

This means that the tool has been happily collecting data locally but he not sent to the Web site.

He obtained his full story last week and made the link to the online store by registering its local database with the site ID. However, it seems that the capacity planner tool has not downloaded all the data it has collected - he made only in the last two weeks, and it doesn't seem it's going to 'catch up' and recover old data.

I looked in the local Access database and you can see all the old data in there. Question - is it possible to force a re-synchronization of all data in the local database, while the old data are sent to the server? I tried Admin/Options/Modules, enter the work of data synchronization and uncheck everything except export data collection and send data, then manually run this task of data synchronization, but he only made a partial dump of the data.

If the data have never been sent to VMware.  The data must be in the folder "c:\program files\vmwaer\vmware capacity planner\outbox.

If the data have been sent, and archive check box has been selected, the data must be in the folder "c:\program files\vmwaer\vmware capacity planner\archive.

If the data has been sent and the box archive was not checked, then the data will be only at VMware.  You will need to contact vmware to reprocess data.

  • VMware Capacity Planning without using an Internet connection

    Hello

I tried run VMWare Capacity Planner without using an Internet connection. I have run Performance and utility collection of inventory and then I synced data. I was able to see the CSV files in the Outbox. I copied the folder on an interenet connection machine having when I click on synchronize data, it began to send the data to the dashboard. the data has been sent successfully, but when I am logged into the dashboard there is no data view. A message was displayed as not enough data.

Please let me know if I made a mistake in my approach.

    Thank you

    Pravesh

can u check with the administrator of your organization, which has admin on dash rights and see if the data is correctly downloaded to the dashboard.

also can ensure you that you use the same credentials on the two boxes on the client side. simple reason being it might be issue with the property user and group data that are downloaded.

  • Collector capacity Planner

Is is possible to assign the same collector to two different customer id without causing problems?

    Hi Rob,

On the site of VMware Capacity Planner, you can create groups of system assessment - group system.  You can configure the report of the EC to only select the group in the report.

Looks like you are using a collector to collect data from different location in different time period.  You can also choose what time is best for your report of the CE.

  • Is it possible to move a Capacity Planner database between partners VMware ID?

    Hello

I have an installation Capacity Planner, set up by a former partner of VMWare. It is still running and configured to do pretty much what I want to do, so I no need to remove and re-create it. I can not just to create a new company in my dash then stick the database id, he complains as being 'already possessed.

Can anyone provide a solution to this?

    Mike

My understanding is no, you can't, you can offer to do the CP using your dashboard of the companies. You can try asking the other company to create an account in this corporate ID and allow you to have access to the data in this way.

It might also be possible to get the original CP partner to disconnect the collector (ID) and provide you with the collector ID to attach to your new ID of company in your dashboard - never tried so I don't know if it's possible. Most partners are not too to give they collected data of another competitor, so I would not take on a lot of luck of what happens even if it were possible.

  • Capacity planner, no data help

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this topic, but I can't find a specific forum for the capacity planner.

I installed a collector on a site and registered 20 machines. I registered the database ID in the dashboard. the collector is collecting information regularly and it shows that the data are uploaded. but I waited for 3 days now and the dashboard shows always do not all data.

am I missing something? where should I start looking?

Do you not see that the systems when you open the tab 'Select systems' for you're your project in "Administration"-> "my projects"?

  • Capacity Planner - no report?

    Hi all

I'm doing my first run with Capacity Planner and I run a CBS for our internal environment as a test.  The collector has worked for several weeks and it seems to work fine (data, logs display the data are synchronized, reports run).  However when I connect to http://optimize.vmware.com I can't generate all reports.  If I open the dashboard of company I see data (lists systems, performance indicators, etc.) and the company status that it y 24 systems to consider.  The 'Reports' tab is dimmed and does not respond to clicks.

I'm sure that a few step or the configuration is missing, but I can't understand what it is.  If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

    Thanks for your time,

    Amanda

Maybe you should check to define your project... whether the server or desktop.

Then choose or define the target server that you want to include in the reports.

(administration-> my project->, and then choose your project)

  • Capacity Planner 2.7.2 Linux error

I have Capacity Planner 2.7.2 installed on the customer's site.  It is installed in a virtual VMware 4.1 computer.  I am so he could collect data from performance on 4 hosts ESXi 4.1.  When you try to perform the inventory or the performance on these 4 servers I received the following error message: "the default shell of connection is not supported.  Can someone tell me what is not set correctly?

You cannot monitor ESX host because there is no part of the operating system that is supported. You can use the batch ESXtop mode or vcenter (if you have one) to monitor the performance of your host.
