  • 1177 error when try to import raw images in Lightroom 3

Hi, I use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 (version 3.6) on a Mac. I recently upgraded from Canon mark I to Mark III, and when I try to import my files I get the error code 1177 (the files came from a camera which is not recognized by the assumption of raw in Lightroom). I checked the updates on Lightroom and message said to date. Is there somewhere else I need to update to Lightroom to recognize my brute. CR2 files? Thanks in advance!

Your camera RAW photos can be read by a more recent version of Lightroom (the current version is Lightroom 6.4). You would have to pay for the new version. Or, you can use the FREE Adobe DNG Converter to convert your RAWs in DNG, which can be imported into Lightroom 3.6.

  • questions to import raw images

try to import raw images in LightRoom 5 and continues to receive "the file is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. (1)

I downloaded the DNG Converter and have updated to Lightroom and am still not able to get them to import. I use a Nikon d5500 has been added.

    I'm just missing something simple?

The d5500 has been added requires at least 6 of Lightroom. There will be no more updates to Lightroom 5, so your only choice is to use the DNG Converter. You have indicated that you have downloaded the DNG Converter. Some people assume that's all that is needed. However, you must use the DNG Converter, which is a standalone program, to create copies of your raw DNG files. Here is a video that will show you how to use the DNG Converter. And, by the way, you should at least use DNG converter 9.0. You may also download and use the latest version.

Note that when you use the DNG Converter you choose a FOLDER that contains your NEF files. Choose the FOLDER, but do not open the file in the DNG Converter. If you do, then you will get the message that there is no file to be converted. Of course, you have the option to upgrade to Lightroom 6 or subscribe to plan creative cloud photography.

  • Import RAW images in too small magnifying glass

Hey guys, I just started my transition from Nikon DSLR to M43 with an Olympus OM - D EM5 ii. I'm having a problem when I try to import raw files into Lightroom. For some reason, Lightroom is not properly rendered preview. As you can see from the photos below, choose 'Fit' is not in fact the image of the loop. In addition, choose zoom 1:1 does not increase my zoom at all. 2:1 and more zoom more, however, it is pixelated. I can't understand why it's different than my Nikon imports. Everyone knows about this problem before? I have provided photos and attached the RAW file. I use Lightroom 6 for PC

So just to be clear, that you suggest that the embedded jpg is too small to give insight in the import menu?

The preview that appears in the LR 6.6.1 module import is 1000 x 750. I extracted the preview built-in with the help of ExifTool and it is 3200 x 2400. For some reason, LR resizes the built-in preview, which is not normal behavior. I suggest this report as a 'problem' here: Photoshop community customer family

If this is the case, do you find that it is better to import them all, then library view to select and delete?

As Just Shoot Me explained the import module is not the right place to review images. Import all image files in a single Destination folder where you want to keep them permanently (not temporary). At the speed of the import process select under file > build Previews > is 'Embedded or Sidecar' or 'Standard '. Embeded or Sidecar will provide faster import and allow full display screen if your screen resolution is no more than the built-in preview 3200 x 2400 resolution. If your screen is a higher resolution than that you will need to select "Standard". If you absolutely need to examine images for 1:1 you can select 1:1 in the menu dropdown to Import module "previews to build."

Then use tools compare, choose flag, Star Rating, color, keyword and Collection of the library module to review and organize your image files. Once done, you can select all of the 'set as rejected' beating flag image files and delete them. Julianne Kost has some video tutorials. I recently bought a new camera from Sony a7 - ii.  the first time I tried to import raw images taken with it (with a. Suffix ARW) the program says "Preview not available for this file" and then "files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom" I have the most updated version, I think as 5.7.  What should I do to get these files imported as raw files?

    Hi Bobsirkus,

The camera you have is compatible with the latest version of Lightroom, which is Lightroom 6/CC.

Please see the list of the camera supported by Lightroom: supported by Adobe Camera Raw devices

You can use the DNG Converter, converts images and then import them into DNG in Lightroom.

    Hi kahnuck,

Please make sure that the camera should be listed as supported in the following article:

    Devices supported by Camera Raw

If it is supported, then make sure that in the window of import Destination option on the right should be expanded.

If this does not help, please help us with the following details:

1 Lightroom version (5.6 or CC)

2 model and brand of camera

3 operating system type (Mac or Windows)

  • Unable to import raw files into Lightroom on Mac

I am trying to download raw Nikon (NEF) photos in Lightroom.  I was able to easily download them to my computer based on windows, but you just bought a mac and lightroom seems to no longer accept these photos.  Please let me know if there is a setting that I can change.  Thank you.

What kind of error message do you receive? Quote it exactly, if you please.

If it says that the file cannot be read, this means that they cannot be written. Not the greatest error message. In any case, if this is the case, you will need to change the permissions on the folder that you copy in, while you are allowed to write there.

(If you try to write on an external drive that you used on your Windows machine, it is probably formatted so that the Mac addresses it read-only. There you can get programs that allow to write on these Mac disks.)

If this isn't an error message, let us know.

  • import of images in Lightroom 5

(Please excuse me if this question already out...) I am new to the Forum and do not know if the previous entry was successful)

I have been dumping images in LR for years and now realize that I wish I had been more systematic. I would like to remove all indications of my images in LR, including all folder names, etc., which became part of it somehow. Ideally, I start with a 'clean slate' and start bringing images correctly, with event names appropriate and given in support. I understand that the images actually 'live' in LR, but there are a lot of files, folders, etc. that appear, which have become attached to LR, when I open the program. Can someone give me an approach step by step for all back out so I can start over?

The other approach, which I highly recommend, is to let the pictures where they are and put your effort in adding metadata appropriate such as keywords, captions, etc. This allows you to find your photos wherever they (anything of the folder structure), because from this moment you are looking for keyword and other metadata. In addition, this gives you a much more powerful organization tool, because each photo can be described by several keywords and several pieces of information in the metadata, while if you use folders for your organization, a picture can be in one folder up. Finally, DO NOT re - organize your photos into folders by date of capture month year. If you find a photo before a certain date, your filter in Lightroom bar does it for you right now, without any necessary reorganization.

  • Lightroom 2 error "damaged or not supported raw images" when importing the Nikon D5000

Lightroom suddenly shows an error message that my camera Nikon raw files may be damaged and cannot be imported into Lightroom. Since yesterday therre was no problem to import raw image files. And I did change the camera settings.

Also, make sure you use at least 2.4 for the D5000 taken in charge, or better upgrade to the latest version 2.x, which is 2.7. : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=113&platform=Windows

  • Why is - that someone else cannot import my raw images in their Lightroom? They import fine in mine...

I'm a second shooter and when the photographer, for it to work I will import my images in Lightroom on his computer, it says there is an error and it won't import them. I shoot Nikon and she shoots Canon, so I don't know if this has something to do with it, but our file handling preferences are the same and I can upload the images in Lightroom on my computer without problem. She has 4 of Lightroom and I have 5, but I still don't think that should make a difference. All that I'm missing?

Each new case uses a new file format, even though they share the same file extension.

It seems that your camera was created after LR 4 came out, so LR4 knows not how to read the "new" files

Your LR5 came out after your camera has been made, so he doesn't know how to read the files.

Short of its LR4 upgrade to version 5 or 6, she will need download a more recent version of the DNG Converter, convert your NAVE DNG files, then import the DNG files.

    Hi chelseac46438928,

Please make sure that you have permissions to the folder where you try to import images.

Or you can try to change the location of import of images in Lightroom.
