  Thanks for all your great suggestions.    I finally solve the problem, but I don't know exactly what fixed it.   I ended up running CCleaner (latest version) and make a 'windows', 'applications' and cleaning of "registry".   This needed a re-boot, and when I rebooted, it's when I could finally download the pictures from the camera.    Not exactly what fixed the problem, but there may be here spirits who may be able to say, ' Yes, with blah, blah, blah, you did...» ».

  As far as I know that is a lot of sterile technical support hours and re - install the software and then, finally, runing CCleaner paid off.    I will record your information in case I need it in the future... Thanks again.

  I'm scanning multiple images and after EACH scan, Win7 opens a new window "Imported pictures and videos", despite the window being open 20 times already...
  
  In the import dialog box, deselection 'Open Windows Explorer after import' has no effect.  After each import, a Windows Explorer window appears showing me that the directory of the file has been imported to (i.e. "imported photos and videos").  Worse still, this happens even if another this window is already open - so if (for example), I scan 10 pictures, I have 10 windows explore open all showing this same directory (unless I close them I will).

  It's boring, clutters the taskbar and takes expire have to close each window - how are we going to stop Win 7 "Imported photos and videos" opening after each scan?

  You attempted to change the option to "Open the Windows Explorer after import" while connected as another user on the computer to see if the problem persists?
  Also, have you tried to scan using a different computer to see if we can isolate the problem to a machine?

  This means that you have previously imported these pictures/videos into Lightroom, and you must not (and are not allowed to) import them again.

  Go to your library Module (not the import dialog box) and find the photos, then you can make use of them in any way you want in Lightroom.

  I have the latest version of Media Go installed on my computer running Windows 10. Given that I have updated to windows 10 in the import menu disappeared. This is clearly a problem of compatibility because I rolled back to Windows 7 and it's there. Return to Windows 10 is not there anymore. In Windows 7 RC, when I plugged in my camera or insert a memory card, I could choose "import pictures and videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery", but in my new installation of Windows 7 RTM, on which I have installed Windows Live Photo Gallery, there is no "Import pictures and videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery" option allotted me in the list of Control Panel AutoPlay or on the AutoPlay pop-up that appears when I plug in a camera.

  How can I get that back? Without this option, I have to go through the manual steps tedious to execute WLPG and manually choose to import from there and say what is my camera. It was much better under Vista and Win7RC when I had the simple auto play option.

  My PC is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but I also installed WLPG on two new computers Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit my parents, and they have exactly the same problem. Is this a known bug? Is there a solution?

  When you install a new version of the items, you are prompted to update the current catalog. Creating a new catalog with the data in the old.   There are often multiple copies of photos and videos in my pictures and video libraries (I mean a LOT of copies... usually with a number in brackets).  I'm afraid that they use hard disk space.  Is there a way I can stop Windows 7 to automatically perform these copies?  I do not see why I would need never them.

  If you keep the files stored on an sd card and keep importing the files of same whenever it might be a good idea to import into the same folder each time, at least you will have a folder that contains all the content of imports and only new files will be imported.

  But this implies that you use windows Explorer to copy and paste or drag and drop the files in this folder, every time,

  When windows Explorer detects duplicates it will warn you that the actions to take when it detects a duplicate file, unfortunately, once duplicates are present (2) or (3) on the end of them that they are different files now.

  Copies (copying) aura about it, not one (2)... it's one of the options windows will give you and it seems that you have selected it when you import.

  The option that windows needs to take is to not copy the file and change its name if it finds a duplicate you want to jump, check the box to use this action on any other duplicates it finds.

  Windows has a bad habit of not reading inside closed files, that is why you have so many duplicates.

  There are to many third duplicate file finder software utility out there to help remove them, use your favorite search engine to search for one.

  The best thing to do is to select those pictures and right click and delete.

  To select several files at once, hold down the CTRL key when you click on the left, select a bunch and delete them all with a right click and delete.
