Importing video to iMovie

Hi this issue seem to have developed a lot in the old posts, but not until recently.  I have a GB pro session 4 I used on two separate projects now.  The first, I can not remember if I imported the images first in the pro studio go, then converted and then imported into iMovie.  Anyway which worked well.  Yesterday but I imported directly from my go pro camera to iMovie, which was shot in 720 100 fps.  The reading was really choppy, dropping frames and wasn't good at all.  It's down to the codec that go pro cameras use?  In the future I need import in the studio pro go first, and then convert the file and then edit in iMovie?  I find iMovie offers a few editing features more than the pro studio go.  Want to book several people mentioned the need to convert images pro go into something that is a format can be added to iMovie.  Just wondering if anyone has had more experience than some of the old posts.

As I sad before the last time I used iMovie was nice, but I don't remember how I imported the images in the first place, but it worked fine.

I import my GoPro and all my camera photos and videos using the Image Capture in a file, and then import the iMovie folder, but the 100 frames per second could be the problem, I'm not sure iMovie supports that the pace and he could try to work around him give the choppy video.

Can I import a video to imovie Photos on my Macbook?

    Hi warrior200,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I understand that you want to import Photos video in iMovie, and I'm happy to provide some guidance for this.

Read this article that we have on the subject:

iMovie 10.x: Add video clips and photos in your library

You will find that your photo library is listed on the left side of iMovie, under libraries of the topic. From there, you will be able to select videos or photos you want.

    See you soon!

  • Importing video into Imovie Photos

    Hey,.

Since IPhoto has been replaced by pictures I can't understand how to import the video I took on my phone in uploaded photos.

    I use IMovie 10.1.2 and ElCapitan 10.11.5.

IMovie opens well and all the media I had in the past is there and usable. I can't drag Photos videos in IMovie and when I try to import in this I can't open pictures and see new videos.

I promised my girls coach I would burn the video on DVD from our last game of gold medal to show our team party end year tomorrow. '

    I'm desperate! Can anyone help?

I'd still be for in your debt!

I can see the videos in my library of Photos in iMovie, like this while watching a project:

    • Select the photo library in the sidebar with the libraries.  Wait.
    • Set the switch on 'Albums' and select one of my albums, that contains only videos:

This will allow me to drag video clips in the timeline.

Is your library of Photos stored locally or a library iCloud?  If the videos are only in iCloud, select the videos you want to use in iMovie and use "file > export > export original...". "to export your videos in a folder on the desktop.  Then add them in here to your iMovie project.

Drag / drop photos won't work, because by dragging will export just a preview of the edited version.  It reduces the quality of your videos.

Added: The menu on the left of the search box should be set to 'All' or 'Video', no pictures. Toggle it to "videos", to ensure that it is excluding videos.

And if your photo library does not at all appear in iMovie, look at the Photos > Preferences > General.  The option 'Use as system library' must be gray, to indicate that it is your library of photos of current system and other applications can access.

If you need to change this option, leave pictures and leaving iMovie after you activated.

  • removal of clips video iOS iMovie

I import video into iMovie on my iPad air 2 on USB. I edit the project, and then export it back.

I delete the project, to make room for the next project, but none of the clips are removed.

I must therefore delete iMovie on the iPad and then back - probably, I'm missing something - this may not be the only way to remove the clips?

If you are using the latest version of iMovie (2.2.3) here is the instructions given in the supporting documents:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------

Managing the media copied from another device

You can change the media used in the projects that have been shared between the devices in the media section of the iMovie library. There you can download the media in your photo library, or remove the media the current device.

Note: Media projects created in previous versions of iMovie can also be managed in this way.

    1. Tap plans to open the project Viewer, select the project with the media that you want to manage and tap on change.
    2. Press the button add media , then click on videos.
    3. Select iMovie Media.Any appear video clips that are already saved in your photo library.
    4. Tap Edit.Buttons appear on the right side of each clip.
    5. Press the gray download button to save the clip to your photo library.
    6. Press the Red Delete button remove the clip of your local device. Note: If the clip is being used in a project, you must remove it from the timeline before deleting. For more information, see remove a video clip or a picture of a project.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

I think that the process is very similar to previous versions of iMovie, but names/icons may be different.  Hope that helps

  • Importing video on external hard drive

How to import videos in iMovie that are already on an external hard drive (connection) Thunderbolt. I don't want to move them on HD of the Macbook Air.

    Icebear Hello!

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see you want to access the video files on an external hard drive and not to transfer to the HD on your MB Air. You must import the video into your iMovie library to work with it, but what you can do is move your iMovie library to an external hard drive. Here are some articles on how to do it, according to the version of iMovie that you use.

Move your iMovie for Mac library (2014)

iMovie 11: copy or move a project on an external hard drive

and for a different perspective, here's another thread from communities that responded to a similar question:

How should I store the video clips on an external hard drive, using iMovie 10.0?

    Have a great day.

  • Imports lost in iMovie

I use iMovie 10.1.2 on a mac mini server. I recently imported a wedding video to iMovie. I've skimmed through all the clips to ensure that they were imported to the library. I left it running and had to leave for a while. When I came back, there was a failure of poor. I started the computer and open iMovie. No import and I have already removed the files from the camera.

Are these files in the computer or I'm just the GROUND?

    Kevin

If iMovie doesn't display all the clips you imported it might be because the library has been corrupted by the power outage and they might still be in the library (they are likely to have been deleted).

With the Finder go yo your library package (default location is in your movies folder) and right-click > view the contents of the package.  There will be a folder for each event and each project.  Within each of these folders will be a "Original media" folder which should contain all the clips that have been imported.  If they are not there you've lost them.

Is they are there after return and I will propose how to proceed from there.

    Geoff.

  • Edit 'videos' in iMovie on iOS

Hi, just trying to do something as simple as editing a video in iMovie on iOS, the video source has been imported through iTunes which is a video made using photos on my Mac which is then exported to a video format in 1080 p. Open the videos on the iPad app and it is classified under 'videos' parts very well. However try to modify the said video in iMovie, it can't import and don't even see.  I guess simply put my question should be how the hell import a video into my iOS device I can then edit in iMovie for iOS.

Copy the finished film in your app Photos - or - save on iCloud drive - or - he dumped from your Mac to your iPad. You should then be able to access in the media browser in iMovie iOS (as long as they are in a compatible format).

  • Import video 8 Sony DCR-TRV210E PAL

    Hi all

I would like to import video from my friend E DCR-TRV210 (Sony).

Importing digital video (iMovie) works very well.

Import analog Vidoeo (that I assume to be converted by the DCR) works:

I can see the video online on my screen when I start the import.

Complete the import...: NOTHING (black screen)

There are a few files that point to the correct video-name (for example, "test") but no directory

    "Original media" a.s.o..

    Can someone help me, please?

BTW. : I'm on MAC Pro El Capitan (10.11.3), video comes through fire-wire 400 to fire wire 800 in love at first sight!

iMovie version 10 requires the timecode for the import.

Your camcorder product for digital tape timecode but not for the digital conversion analog (cassette Hi8).

This is the case even when you use the camcorder in pass-through mode. (analog to DV out).

You can try to use QuickTime Player to record instead of iMovie, it's on your Mac.

It seems not to need to import timecode.

How to use QuickTime Player - Apple Support

Follow the instructions to record a movie and select Maximum quality.

Then, you need to import the data into iMovie.

Note that you won't get the scene breaks as you would a digital tape, but a long clip rather making it a bit more tedious to change.

  • Import videos: camera roll videos vs app

Hello. I just discovered that it is possible to import videos into the film or the video app. I wonder if one of these methods is better than the other? The only advantage of the app videos until now, I've noticed, is that it shows some details about the video (for example, the size, the resolution).

If you want to watch movies or videos, that app videos would be better in my opinion, because things can get jumbled in the film.

  • is it possible to organize videos Theater iMovie

Videos in iMovie theater can be organized into groups, for example, the way apps on iPhone may come across other applications and it allows you to appoint a group to hold these applications?  Or maybe in some other way other than just in newest to oldest?

You can group the videos in folders in the Finder, but even I know there is no way to do within the iMovie app.  I'm sure someone on this forum will correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Import videos on my iPhone as photos on macbook pro

When I import videos from my iPhone for pictures on my macbook pro, they read that the videos on my computer, but when I try to upload them to Facebook, Facebook will not identify them and shen I save on my desktop they save as a file image IMG_5438.m4v for example.  Why is this happening?  Shouldn't he 'function' when you import video from your iPhone to your macbook pro?  I don't know what to do please help!  I need to get these videos on Facebook for my direct marketing job. I spent two hours on the phone with 4 different people from Apple yesterday and they couldn't help.

Are you sure, that the file saved to the desktop is an image?. The file name extension .m4v suggests it's a video. Try to double click on it. It should play. Part e the name of the name of the file will always be IMG, when you import from an iPhone, the file name extension is what counts.

  • I just lost my very important video

I lost my very important video, I tried to move the video on Pc, but the first time my video has been removed from the iphone, but it stops and pc video is also corrupt but video is now not in iphone5s. How can I get it back.

Please tell me how to recover.

If you have the computer configured to delete the file after the import, the only possibility, you must recover the file is if you had a backup of the iPhone with the video about it. If this is the case, you could restore the phone to this backup to restore the video. Don't forget, if you restore your phone on a backup, any act performed since that time will be lost.
