Imports lost in iMovie

I use iMovie 10.1.2 on a mac mini server. I recently imported a wedding video to iMovie. I've skimmed through all the clips to ensure that they were imported to the library. I left it running and had to leave for a while. When I came back, there was a failure of poor. I started the computer and open iMovie. No import and I have already removed the files from the camera.

Are these files in the computer or I'm just the GROUND?

Kevin

If iMovie doesn't display all the clips you imported it might be because the library has been corrupted by the power outage and they might still be in the library (they are likely to have been deleted).

With the Finder go yo your library package (default location is in your movies folder) and right-click > view the contents of the package.  There will be a folder for each event and each project.  Within each of these folders will be a "Original media" folder which should contain all the clips that have been imported.  If they are not there you've lost them.

Is they are there after return and I will propose how to proceed from there.

Geoff.

  • How to export iMovie which has not yet been imported to an iMovie media?

I imported my Sony Hancam files directly into iMovie.  It's the only way that the iMac will recognize my video files of both a new and old Sony Handycam I have.

Therefore, these files have been imported into iMovie, but I do not want to change everything in iMovie.  Picture of a family day, I did an iMovie containing approximately 10% of the images taken that day here.  I don't want to remove the remaining 90%, but I would like to put these files unused original in a folder in case I want to view them in the future.  How can I get these files out of iMovie and what program I need to download to make them recognizable on my iMac?  I think they are stored on an external hard drive because they take all my HARD drive on my iMac workspace.

In the past I had to use the brake hand and/or Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate to convert files in a format that iMovie would recognize.  These files downloaded from my Hancam would go in folders in the Finder, from there, I would use the above-mentioned applications to convert the files I wanted imported into iMovie.  My old iMac recognized all the files in the original format from the camcorder and I could play using VLC.  This new iMac does not even recognize these video files to the video camera unless I directly import into iMovie.

Hope that all of the senses and that someone can provide some tips.  Thank you

Try to select the unused clip in the library panel and then selecting file/reveal in Finder.   If the clip is displayed in the pop up you can drag to a folder and put it where you want.  You should be able to click on it and play without any additional software.

  • Importing video to iMovie

Hi this issue seem to have developed a lot in the old posts, but not until recently.  I have a GB pro session 4 I used on two separate projects now.  The first, I can not remember if I imported the images first in the pro studio go, then converted and then imported into iMovie.  Anyway which worked well.  Yesterday but I imported directly from my go pro camera to iMovie, which was shot in 720 100 fps.  The reading was really choppy, dropping frames and wasn't good at all.  It's down to the codec that go pro cameras use?  In the future I need import in the studio pro go first, and then convert the file and then edit in iMovie?  I find iMovie offers a few editing features more than the pro studio go.  Want to book several people mentioned the need to convert images pro go into something that is a format can be added to iMovie.  Just wondering if anyone has had more experience than some of the old posts.

As I sad before the last time I used iMovie was nice, but I don't remember how I imported the images in the first place, but it worked fine.

I import my GoPro and all my camera photos and videos using the Image Capture in a file, and then import the iMovie folder, but the 100 frames per second could be the problem, I'm not sure iMovie supports that the pace and he could try to work around him give the choppy video.

  • How to import the old iMovie library

Searched the Internet but nothing helped.

I finally decided to use the new iMovie app (version 10? 2013 version? is the one with the purple icon). I have been using the old version of iMovie all this time. How to import my old library iMovie and projects in the news? What I found on the internet that says that when I start to iMovie for the first time, it is supposed to prompt me to do it, but it's not.

Hold down the Alt/option key at startup to iMovie, so that it points to the library. After iMovie will remember.

  • Importing video into Imovie Photos

    Hey,.

Since IPhoto has been replaced by pictures I can't understand how to import the video I took on my phone in uploaded photos.

    I use IMovie 10.1.2 and ElCapitan 10.11.5.

IMovie opens well and all the media I had in the past is there and usable. I can't drag Photos videos in IMovie and when I try to import in this I can't open pictures and see new videos.

I promised my girls coach I would burn the video on DVD from our last game of gold medal to show our team party end year tomorrow. '

    I'm desperate! Can anyone help?

I'd still be for in your debt!

I can see the videos in my library of Photos in iMovie, like this while watching a project:

    • Select the photo library in the sidebar with the libraries.  Wait.
    • Set the switch on 'Albums' and select one of my albums, that contains only videos:

This will allow me to drag video clips in the timeline.

Is your library of Photos stored locally or a library iCloud?  If the videos are only in iCloud, select the videos you want to use in iMovie and use "file > export > export original...". "to export your videos in a folder on the desktop.  Then add them in here to your iMovie project.

Drag / drop photos won't work, because by dragging will export just a preview of the edited version.  It reduces the quality of your videos.

Added: The menu on the left of the search box should be set to 'All' or 'Video', no pictures. Toggle it to "videos", to ensure that it is excluding videos.

And if your photo library does not at all appear in iMovie, look at the Photos > Preferences > General.  The option 'Use as system library' must be gray, to indicate that it is your library of photos of current system and other applications can access.

If you need to change this option, leave pictures and leaving iMovie after you activated.

  • Impossible to import music into iMovie

In iMovie 09, I used to be able to import my iTunes music. Now the only choices I have are GarageBand and sound effects to iMovie and iLife. No idea why the change?

Yes, there are reports that the latest version of iTunes connect is no longer with iMovie 9.  You can find the file in your iTunes library, then drag and drop it into the event iMovie or line of scene or iMovie update to the current (10.1.2). version  Why?  I'm not Apple, just a user like you.  It seems that Apple is trying to wean users 5 years of iMovie versions.  There are a number of other things that do not work in iMovie 9 when running under El Capitan.

  • How to Import FCP files in iMovie 10.1.2

I have several .fcp files more alumni who have been created in Final Cut Express living on a hard drive portable firewire.  I have adapters for bringing them into my new iMac, but no way to open them or get them in iMovie.  I can't afford to Final Cut Pro.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

Project Final Cut Express (.fcp) files cannot be opened in iMovie. If you have media files from these projects you can import it into iMovie to use in an iMovie project. They should be on your drive to work in folders named for the project. Not sure what you mean when you refer to the cards.

  • How to import an MPEG movie in iMovie?

How to import an MPEG movie in iMovie?  (also AVI).  It seems that only type Quicktime movies are available in my list of old files to be imported and open in iMovie.

I'm using an iMac with OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 version and iMovie version 10.1.2.

MPEG files come in different flavors. If these files are old as you have indicated, I guess they are MPEG 1. In this case, you can convert Quicktime using MPEG Streamclip 5 squares. It's free. If you are referring to a DVD video which is mpg2 while you can use Handbrake to convert. MP4 should import ok in iMovie. It will also convert your AVI files and also streamclip!

  • Fonts in iMove import or a work-around.

Is there a way to import fonts in iMovie?, perhaps a work around as import in file iMoves fonts?, I have no ideal how do. I have this huge selection of fonts, but iMovie uses very little of them.

    Thanks for your time

    Hey Kirk you still autour?

iMovie has access to all fonts in the font book. But iMovie will only show you the fonts that are compatible with the design of the title you have chosen. If you click the fonts in the T tool, drop down, you'll see the fonts. This will give you the window fonts, and you can see all the fonts on your system.

  • videos imported to imovie are green

    Hello

I took a few videos with my phone Samsung Galaxy S3 and they downloaded on my Mac. I use iMovie to splice the 5 shorts into one video. For some reason when I import videos using iMovie, the videos do not appear for the edition that I saw in some tutorial videos on YouTube. All I see is green when I should see screenshots. I can click play and hear the audio, but I am unable to see the video. Is it possible to fix this? Thank you

Looks like you are trying to use iMovie 11 (version 9.0.x) with El Capitan. IMovie 11 is unfortunately not compatible with El Capitan. Green or black pictures, among other problems are because of the incompatibility. 10.1.1 iMovie is the only compatible version. Suggest that you upgrade to 10.1.1. If you have version 9.0.9 is a free update.

  • removal of clips video iOS iMovie

I import video into iMovie on my iPad air 2 on USB. I edit the project, and then export it back.

I delete the project, to make room for the next project, but none of the clips are removed.

I must therefore delete iMovie on the iPad and then back - probably, I'm missing something - this may not be the only way to remove the clips?

If you are using the latest version of iMovie (2.2.3) here is the instructions given in the supporting documents:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------

Managing the media copied from another device

You can change the media used in the projects that have been shared between the devices in the media section of the iMovie library. There you can download the media in your photo library, or remove the media the current device.

Note: Media projects created in previous versions of iMovie can also be managed in this way.

    1. Tap plans to open the project Viewer, select the project with the media that you want to manage and tap on change.
    2. Press the button add media , then click on videos.
    3. Select iMovie Media.Any appear video clips that are already saved in your photo library.
    4. Tap Edit.Buttons appear on the right side of each clip.
    5. Press the gray download button to save the clip to your photo library.
    6. Press the Red Delete button remove the clip of your local device. Note: If the clip is being used in a project, you must remove it from the timeline before deleting. For more information, see remove a video clip or a picture of a project.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

I think that the process is very similar to previous versions of iMovie, but names/icons may be different.  Hope that helps

  • How to export video from Photos in iMovie?

    Hello

    I have Photos 1.5 and iMovie 10.1.1

How to make video from Photos in iMovie so I can include them in the films of projects/home theater?

The menu shows library of pictures but none iMovie content, even if pictures has the video and still images,

I see no photos to export to iMovie either.

The only idea I can think of is to drag images of Photos on the desktop and then import it into iMovie.

Surely, there must be a better way?

You can simply cut the video and press the sign at the bottom right there will be the drop on the line or you can drag and drop where you want to on the timeline... hope this helps.

  • device not recognized in iMovie

My iPhone5 stopped being recognized in iMovie. Is there another way to import videos into iMovie?

    Hi Lori Grantana,

I understand you are trying to import videos from your iPhone 5 in iMovie on your Mac, but the iPhone is no longer recognized by iMovie.   The first thing I would do is unplug the iPhone from the computer, quit the iMovie application and restart the computer.   Then open iMovie and connect your iPhone to a different USB port on your MacBook Pro.

If the problem persists, take a look at the information in the resources below to troubleshoot the USB connection or use other methods to import your videos to your Mac:

OS X El Capitan: If a USB device does not work

    • Restart the applications:

Quit and then restart all the apps that use the device.

    • Restart your Mac:

Choose the Apple menu > restart.

Check that the device in the information system:

Choose the Apple menu > about this Mac. In the window that appears, click Preview, then click report system to open system information.

Grantana, you can also use the image capture on your Mac application to import the videos you want on your computer.
