Impossible to format the unallocated partition

Hello

I would extend the active partition of my hard drive. The unallocated partition cannot be formatted with the vista disk management tool.

I have a 750 GB hard drive

Partition active 80,42 GB

Unallocated partition Go 618,22

Someone knows why?

Also, I was wondering if it is normal that the total size of these two partitions is 698,64 GB being the ability of the 750 GB hard drive.

Are there hidden partitions will not appear in windows? If so, is there a tool to view these scores?

Thank you

Benur

I have a microsd card to 8 GB which somehow got formatted to 4 gig, leaving the other 4 GB unallocated. nothing I have tried seems to correct this problem. diskmanagement does nothing to solve this problem. any ideas?

    Hello
Thank you for coming back to us. Do you see an extra space after the 4 GB you surrently use in disk management? If Windows does not detect the 4 GB remaining, then you won't have the option of extending because there is no free to extend to unpartitioned space. You can only get the options to reduce or to remove, but not extend. If this is the case, you may have a defective USB because they always Setup to use the entire disk.
If you see a space and it shows about 4 GB and has a drive letter with it, associtated then it has been split into two partitions and you can access the extra 4 GB via the computer, or right click and select open.
You can also delete the second partition and must then be able to extend the first... creating one big partition.

IF you have free space after the partition of 4 GB and you are not able to use the options to change the size, here are some things to check:

You must be logged on as a s Adminitrator
You need to make sure that the unit is unlocked. (some have a small switch.
Some devices may need software drivers to use. Check online for the make and model to see if there's information about using it.

There are also free partitioning utility on the web. Example: (www.partition-tool.com), Mark <> Microsoft Partner

    1. what kind of DVD are you trying to format (DVD + R or DVD + RW)?

You can check if you are able to format the DVD in another computer.

My external hard drive has two partitions. We're "Healthy (primary partition)", the other is "unallocated".

When I right click on the partition menu popup are faded/not usable.

You can create a partition in the unallocated in disk management space.

Right-click on the unallocated space and create a partition.

If you have a partition on the disk using all the space you need to set as GPT instead of MBR.  Windows will not accept a partition of about 2 GB max on a game of MBR disk.

  • Satellite U400-112: impossible to format the local drive (damaged MFT?)

    Hello!

I had a pretty serious problem with my HARD drive.
    250 GB HARD drive
C: 116 GB - NTFS - Windows XP (Vista initially)
    D: 1, 5 GB - NTFS - (Vista Recover?..)
E: 117 GB - RAW (was NTFS prior to crash)

Local drive E: MFT have been damaged because of the virus attack (I hope not because of my madness!). It's NTFS, now it's RAW. I got all the necessary data partition with program ZAR, but all my attempts to recover or just the format E: remained unsuccessful.
None of the defective sectors found on the HARD drive. Standard Windows tool to format the disks fails: 'it's impossible to finish the formatting of E:

Before this problem with the E: drive, I had several problems with HARD drive. I have never divided re discs, to Partition Magic from the beginning he identified incorrectly. I tried Partition Magic 7 and 8.

The problem is that the special programs (I tried "find and Mount") also could not identify partitions to correct the defective MFT. I thought that low-level format can help me, but I heard, that the use of all applications for other producers can probably destroy my HARD drive. Are there only special applications of Toshiba developed for such cases? Or you can advice me something else?

    Thanks for your help!

P.S. These applications did not help me:
Find and Mount (can't find the HARD drive)
Acronis Recovery Expert (does not find the HARD drive)
OnTrack EasyRecovery Professional (does not resolve the error, but help to recovery data)
    HDD Regenerator

Thus you get back all your important data?

I would like to just launch Recovery to restore the HARD drive to its factory condition. If the recovery fails, you can try to delete the partitions with FDISK from a startup MS-DOS disk. Free bootdisks can be found at www.bootdisk.com

FDISK can also repair a Master Boot Record by running this command: FDISK/MBR
But it is not 100% reliable, it could cause more harm than good.

  • Pavilion G4 1303AU: impossible to format the hard disk in any case

I had 8 current enforcement windows on my system, then I thought to install linux (distribution mageia) on it. Before I formatted the entire system and created primary and extended partitions as well as some allocated space was left for linux.

Then I installed windows 8 on a primary partition C. I installed linux on the unallocated space, and follow the steps in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLu1NwsZr48

I don't understand what was going on well.

After I don't have grub GUI screen 2 so I rebooted the system and windows 8 started normally and automatically.

Now, I decide to remove the linux partitions cz they did not appear on the home screen (for the dual boot option)

I went to dskmgmt.msc and tried to delete the partition containing linux. The removal process has continued and eventually hanged. So I rebooted my pc and boom, the pc will not boot into windows 8.

It shows crashes and win8 logo... I tried to format it, there also, it shows the start with logo screen and crashes in windows 7, it loads the files, comes up to the part where the logo builds up and crashes, tried mageia live cd also, there also it hangs on the splash screen.

I tried default BIOS, I tried to format it using usb, everything.

The hard drive gets detected as "laptop hard drive" in the bios... so I don't think that it must be a hardware problem.

I hope there is a solution, because the laptop repair shops say that he died. I did not trust them because how can a partition physically damaged hard drive!

Please respond quickly with a solution...

    I should be grateful!

You can refuse to accept it, but if Diskpart--> List volume or drive list does not see the drive when the data and power connectors are active, then the disk controller has not.  The hard drive is the material of the trash. Replace it with another new hard drive.

An electromagnet not wip data from the hard drive. The hard drive uses magnets neodymium as p [art of its design.

Your volume TB 2.04, VMware is limited to a size of 2 TB - something more volume that wraps to lose the first 2 TB. Then the 40 GB, you can format is 0.04 CT.

Resize/re-partition your device less than 2 TB.

  • Satellite A200-237: Visat Installation without formatting the two partitions

Yesterday, I installed Windws Vista and all other software for my Satellite A200-237.
A has 2 partition of my drive hard C and E.

I used E for my files just like I did with my computer laptop formar.
And when I installed windws xp that I formatted only C and E remained as it was, so I've always had my files on my laptop. I did the same with my formatted partition C AND e. visat toshiba and vista and unfortunately I lost all my files and I now have the partition C and F instead of C and E.

Is it possible (for the next time I re install vista and format the hard disk) without format my second partition?
Is this possible or do I really have a second HD?

I do not remember Vista asking me what partition I want to format and with XP, I had that choice.
    Help, please.

    Hello

Well. Usually it of possible, but only by using the original CD of Windows Vista.
Then, you choose the partition where the operating system must be installed.

Using the recovery CD all partitions will be deleted simply said; the recovery CD formats the entire HARD drive and you will lose all the data stored on the partitions

  • Impossible to expand the C partition after the reduction of the DATA Partition

I dropped my DATA partition to increase the size of my partition Vista (c), but I can't extend C: (as far I understand it) because it is more than a single partition to the right.

I can reformat the free space and I have another partition, but I would rather extend C:
Is there a way to do this?

Also, I wrote my recovery disks, but the DATA partition again should he be there? Also if you do not delete the DATA partition and that do it again you?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

The problem is that your data partition was created after the C partition.

If you reduce a partition, the free space appears after the shrivelled partition and so you can not add this free space to the other partition of C that is placed behind the partition Data (D).

The only way to expand the C partition is to delete the partition D and then to add this free space to the C partition, but I wouldn't delete the DATA partition because it has a record of recovery that is necessary to create the Toshiba Recovery DVD

But if you have already created a Toshiba Recovery DVD then the deletion of the DATA partition is not a serious problem because the Toshiba Recovery disk would format the whole HARD drive and would create 3 new partitions (hidden WinRE partition, partition C system, DATA partition).

    Hi Sunny,

To better understand the issue, let me know what happens when you try to format the drive? You get the error message?

This problem could occur if the files are hidden.

Try the steps listed here and see if it helps:

    Method 1:
We will check if there are all the hidden files in the player. To verify that the same as follows:

    a. open the drive that has the problem.

    b. click on the view tab.

    c. check "items Hidden."

Check now if all the files or folders are appearing in the player.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest you to check if there are all the files in the drive through command prompt.

    a. press Windows Key + r

    b. type cmd and press enter.

    c. in the open prompt window, type the following commands one by one and press enter after each command.

    : (e.g. d :)

    dir

    d. This will show all the directories or folders in the drive.

    e. check for all the folders inside the car.

Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with an up-to-date report of the issue so that we can help you further.

  • Android update 6.0.1 impossible to format the SD card internal memory cannot move the app to the SD card

I've just updated to Android 6.0.1 yesterday evening and I realized a lot of things has changed. I can't access my store apps on the SD card in Android 5.1.1. I was able to move apps to the SD card on 5.1.1 to free internal memory. Update Marshmallow supposed to have better functionality. It can mount the provided internal memory SD card I have to formatted as internal memory. I have bee playing around with my phone all day and I made during the liberation of Sony, they do not have this feature. I've been YouTubeing autour and found in 6.0.1 in the submenu settings/storage/SD card, there should be 3 possibilities. Eject, Format and format the internal memory. That's what Miss me. Also if you insert the SD card for the first time, it should appear a notification asking you what to do with the SD card. He don't ask me. This is a feature known with Marshmallow. My phone have 16g, it won't hold all my apps, which was the reason why I spend a few apps to SD on Android 5.1.1. So what's happening?

I have also factory reset my phone and format my SD on my computer, it still doesn't work. He only treats like a portable storage.

    @CameronT

    Problem solved

I don't know that it's a bug or not. the reason why he did not move the app to the SD card was because the SD card has been beyond 32 G. Since I was a 64G with a total of 59G free. It will not transfer.  So I downloaded my photos, music and videos to take 1/2 of the memories. Now I have 29G left, restarted my phone and transfer of applications very well. go figure.

A solution has been published on Androidcentral.com

    http://forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/598712-can-t-move-app-not-enough-storage-space.html

It's just a work around now, it would be really nice to have just mounted as internal memory memory card.
