  It's not a downgrade. When you install DX9, it is separated from DX11 (you keep DX11) and programs just to choose the one they made to use.

• How can I get 4 civilization running on Windows 7?

  I use a laptop Toshiba Satellite L450D new that came with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed.  I used it for a few months now without any problem - except that some features to my Microsoft Office suite have stopped working.  But I can find workarounds for these problems.  Here's my biggie:

  I'm launching the Civilization 4 game
  Developer: Firaxis
  Distribution: 2K Games

  I installed the game by using the run as Administrator option.

  I then downloaded and installed the latest patch (version 1.61) also use the run as Administrator option.  Apart from the installation of the patch Firaxis and 2 K offers no advice.  Civilization 4 was published in 2005, so I guess it's out of warranty.  It's fine for them, but only, I bought my copy in 2008.

  If I try to run the program normally it seems to start fine - with correct flash screen - but then the notebook flips to a blank (black) screen and locks up.  There is a lot of activity from the HD but no sound and nothing on the screen.  I can't work in the Task Manager and I cannot turn the program screens.

  Then, I tried to resolve the problems Compatabilitty.  This time, with Win XP settings, I spent the flash screen, credit screens, and the introductory video.  Then lock-up as above.

  I have now my laptop works on a dozen big red-switching time and I'm tired.  Hard restarts caused havoc with my settings.  I had a heart attack 10 minutes when, after a reboot, all of my administrator access seemed to have been removed and I couldn't find a way to access the file Explorer.  Then the system restore has refused to roll back!

  Since then, the laptop seems to be returned to normal - although my firewall (non-Microsoft) seems to have lost its database of the programs safe and everything slows down asking questions every 5 seconds.  Also, I will not dare try the system restore again until all my work is completely saved.

  Please help - while I still have hair to tear.

• The problem is that I can't get my pc running on Windows 98 to recognize the mouse.

  Windows 98 has reached the end of life support, as shown here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/support/endofsupport.mspx . This may actually be a problem with the hardware on the system (it is possible that the port may be bad). If you want to upgrade to Windows XP, you can try to look online for a possible way to get Windows XP.

  I don't know exactly what problem you are having with the Clipboard, but the following link can help for a potential problem.  If this isn't the case, answer with more details on what is the problem. Also, if you try to copy the screen to the Clipboard, know that, in addition to PrntScrn, Windows 7 has a key "capture tool" (type Snipping Tool in the search programs and files box immediately above the button Start.  http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-windows_programs/where-is-the-Clipboard-on-Windows-7/3bf718eb-5c47-E011-90B6-1cc1de79d2e2  Re this thread, you can also just paste in a painting or another application to see what is in the Clipboard.

  OK, your router is on the latest firmware and it should work. can you try disabling any security you have on it and then retest the D3?

  Given that Microsoft integrates Flash Player in Internet Explorer, the stand-alone installer does not work.  I'm not aware of all the options to upgrade to Flash Player for IE in Windows 8 short of upgrading to Windows 8.1 or 10.

  We bought a number of improvements at the end of the year from Adobe - they made us buy unique instead of Volume licenses because they wouldn't sell us those.

  One of my technicians installed and uninstalled this software about 5 times. We downloaded at three different times, he chose English every time and the first four times he kept flipping to Portuguese, and now it seems to be English but appears as a TRIAL version and the alerts come in Russian!

  What gives? Everyone knows this? It's just crazy.

  Thanks, Michael - I had the technology use the cat under support and he was able to climb to someone who got through it and now things work correctly. They helped find all language settings and activations can be deleted so that it could operate. He thinks that's all they did and now it's fine. You can close this one.
