Movie Maker will not see a preview of the video, but plays sound

Hello

I know this question has been answered before, but I tried the suggested solutions and it doesn't seem to work. I used the MicrosoftFixIt tool to find any bad codecs and none came. I clicked on one of the links to download an older version of NVIDIA, as suggested, but I'll be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing.

All I want to do is to edit videos on Movie Maker, but I can't because I don't see what I'm doing. Even if I just put a picture, nothing is displayed in the Preview on the left area!

When I export the video she plays very well because I have strung together some pictures and a few videos with a mp3 file on the top and everything I played correctly once it had been exported.
I use my laptop which is a HP Pavilion dm4, my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, and I tried to update Movie Maker on the Windows website.
I need help. Thank you for your time, you're probably sick of answering these questions, but I searched your forums carefully and nothing has worked.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you for your help but I tried to restore my device driver, but unfortunately I have not all previous versions to restore. I have also tried to lower my hardware acceleration, despite having allowed me to completed the first instructions little change 16 bits etc, I could not then lower acceleration because the laptop just wouldn't let me.

Thank you for your quick response, but unfortunately, my laptop still stubbornly useless.

Depending on your answer I do not know what else to think.
Although you might find your computer mfg site for
earlier video drivers.

Maybe install a previous version of Movie Maker
worth to try:

There is a version of Vista Movie Maker 6.0 which will be
run on perhaps Windows 7 or 8... You can use it to
new projects until you find the fix for MM12.

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)

I've solved this one. The downloaded folder of icons was obviously some kind of folder zipped; The name was Free-Icons-Shimmer-01-Creative-Freedom.zip. I created a new folder, copied and pasted all the images of the original file to the new file and properly display thumbnails. I have no idea why. Just happy it worked.

  • Window Movie Maker will not import a mp3 file get that a C: {file location} .mp3 error could not be imported

OP: Window Movie Maker will not import an mp3 file. Why?

I tried to imort a song from my music file which is in mp3 format, but the program won't. She won't tell me why, it just says: "C: {file location} .mp3 cannot be imported."  I imported 2 other songs that are the same exact format. Why is it cant import the file?

    Hello spardigus,

1 - is the full error you get when you try to import the file?

Some of the Mp3 files can be compressed in various formats. I suggest that you search information below and check out them if you are able to import the files.

It might be possible that the file may be corrupted and is not readable by Movie Maker. I suggest that you copy the file to a different location on your computer and you are trying to import.

Also check the size of the file. If it shows 0 bytes, there are good chances that the file may be damaged.

I suggest that you try to convert this file to avi format using an Audio Converter. There are several converters which helps you convert the file in the required format. Convert the file and try to import.

You can use your favorite search engine to find the program that will help convert the files.

  • Windows Movie Maker will not play

I made a video for a school project. It was published and implemented well enough. I taped a cd, he brought to the school, and the video wouldn't play. How to make it compatible?

    It works that way.
The video that you have recorded on the CD only plays in your computer.

So that the video be played in other computers or DVD players, you need to burn video to a DVD using Windows DVD creation.

Windows DVD creation is included in Vista Home premium and Ultimate.
If you versio of Vista is not one of the above, you will need to install a 3rd party DVD Maker.

  • Sometimes the clips in Windows Movie Maker will not play during preview and not at all after publication...

Hello!  I just create a movie using Windows Movie Maker (HP Pavilion dv6000/Windows Vista Home Premium).  During the PREVIEW, the first part of the video of my film sometimes will not play (view) while the audio continues. Sometimes he will play (view).  All clips are saved in the right place, the file formats are correct, and everything else that I think is done correctly.  In addition, after the publication of the video, he did the same thing; some parts of the beginning is not playing (see) only the audio.  I believe that this can have started happening after a few times when an error message pops up saying something like "Video player has stopped responding, but has revived with success...» "or something like that.

Now, I tried a few things to try to fix the problem.  I noticed that if I take the transitions and effects on the clips then they play but every time. I don't know why this happens only at the beginning of the movie and not all of the film since I also have clips with transitions and effects in the end.  Help!  This is my first time using this program/do a movie (and it's really good if I must say for me... he can win an Oscar! * smile *), but I wonder if I did something by mistake at the origin of this problem...

  • Windows Movie Maker will not publish my movie on my computer

I tried to post this video to my computer from Windows Movie Maker. The video is long, only 42 seconds, so I doubt that there is a problem of length.

When I try to publish the video, a dialog box appears and says "Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough available disk space, and then try again. »

I've checked everything and nothing seems wrong or irrelevant. I had to completely wipe my computer about two days due to the 'Blue screen of death' experience, but I was able to install any new drivers and restore my computer to its factory settings. I don't know what to do. Help, please!

More than likely you are using one or more sources
files that are not completely compatible with Movie maker.

Several formats are apparently compatible with film
Machine, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

    Good luck...

    Hi laura234646,

Did you check if the problem occurs with another drive?
