  I had so many problems that these last several weeks installing Oracle 11 g on a new server. I had to completely uninstall Oracle database at least four times for various reasons. More recently, I forgot to configure the embedded PL/SQL gateway before starting to upgrade the ApEx 3.0.1.00.08 to 3.1.2. Now, I don't remember where I got the paper that I used a few weeks ago when I have successfully (I think) upgraded ApEx, which was before I accidentally applied the patch database from 32 bit to my 64-bit database.
  
  Now the document that I look at you, http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/install.310/e10496/toc.htm, let me think I'm install instead of upgrade.
  
  Moreover, although section 1.2 of which the above referenced document talks about the upgrade from a previous version of ApEx it specifically says that "next in this guide installation scenarios upgrades your Oracle Application Express to version 3.0 instance and creates objects of database 3.0 Oracle Application Express in a new schema and migrates the metadata of the application of the new version." Really? I mean really? The document claims to be for ApEx 3.1.2. So why does say that it will upgrade your Oracle Application Express instance only to version 3.0?

  I think you have the right document. He mentions 3.0 incorrectly instead you cited - that should tell 3.1. When you install the product, and it detects that you have an earlier version, it will do a upgrade operation, copy all your previous data in the new scheme of 3.1.

  Srini - the version of the fix and the document is only to patch an existing version of 3.1 to 3.1.2.

  Hi Godis-Tei,

  It is easy to explain.

  (1) I don't know what are the instructions you follow, but it seems to suggest that you create a separate tablespace for APEX.  Not a bad suggestion, but in your case, since you are new, you should be able to simply use the existing SYSAUX tablespace.

  (2) you are prompted for an additional argument because you have not specified all necessary parameter values when calling apexins.sql.  I suggest that you run again, and with the following arguments:

  sysaux sysaux @apexins is temp

  When you add a video card no HP in a PC provided with W8/8.1, you will need to change 2 settings of the BIOS before installing the card.

  I downloaded the latest driver from the download from toshiba site as the Nvidia site does not support my card - Go 7600. When I run it it fails right at the beginning saying that the OS is not Vista x 32 - which it is! I updated the BIOS to v1.70. Does anyone else have this problem?

  We have recently upgraded the Apex 4.0.2 on Oracle 11 g using Embedded PLS door of entry to the Apex 4.2.6 on Oracle 11 g using ADR.

  The initial series of unit tests seemed well until a few questions supported around "htp.p".

  The scenario is like this:

  1. the user fills some fields on the page-10 and click the Save"" button.

  2. This button then performs a redirection to a pop up page where some inputs more are invited to enter.

  3. when the user clicks "OK" on the popup:

  i. an anonymous PLSQL block is executed in the backend (as after presenting processes).

  II. another PLSQL block is executed, which closes the popup windows and returns the control to the parent page.

  This is achieved using htp.p...

  For example:

  The weird part is that the message "& P38_PO_AMOUNT. has been paid' getting appears on the pop-up itself instead of parent.

  Any ideas or pointers to this problem would be a great help. I have come to the forums and metalink for any position and had no luck so far.

  But 2 doubts which do not appear in your code:

  1. why you placetag through PTH again? Body will be already present on the page 7

  2. What is "this" in your window close event? 'this' will be indefinite in my opinion

  Thetag and the reference to 'this' was used because the application was developed first on Apex 3.x

  This piece worked through the upgrade to 4.0.2 and it starts to play up only after this upgrade (to 4.2.6).

  I had followed the suggestions from the link you posted, made some changes and the flow is as follows:

  1, as well as the original

  2 as well as the original

  3. when the user clicks "OK" on the popup:

  i. an anonymous PLSQL block is executed in the backend, under process, like submit it: after calculations & Validations.

  II. the 2nd block PLSQL for close & redirect the page is now part of 'Branch of PL/SQL procedure' with branch point ' on Submit: after the treatment (after calculation, Validation and treatment). The PLSQL code is as follows:

  The behavior is always the same and seems not to have changed. I'm a little lost, try different options.

  I'll try to reproduce the scenario on apex.oracle.com and in the meantime of inputs/suggestions would be helpful.

  after upgrade the APEX 4 APEX 5.0.2 and the use of ADR now instead of OHS everything works fine, but the logo is not displayed. It is saved as a static file from the workspace (#WORKSPACE_IMAGES #LpWaV_Logo.gif).

  Here, the entry in the Tomcat access log:

• 10g Express to the Apex 3.1.2 update problem

  I have Oracle Database 10 g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 installed on windows XP. I want to develop an application using oracle express (apex), so I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade the apex (of the 2.0 default apex supplied with 10g xe) at the latest, free 3.1,2 before you start. I tried to update twice & it failed. Without going into a ton of details, from errors in the paper that I saw every time, it seems that the installation script, apexins.sql, expects 1 parameter to be the default tablespace instead of the password. Any ideas on this subject?
  My other questions are:
  1) before moving on to rel 3.1.2 can I first create the user/passwd apex? The doc did not initially create the account. (so I did not). It is said apexins are the followiing, but errors in the newspaper that I seem to disagree:
  @apexins < password > < tablespace_htmldb > < tablespace_files > < tablespace_temp >
  < images > < connect >
  
  (2) I'm following the instructions for apex rel 3? From what I read, I think I can go directly from apex rel 2.0 to 3.1.2. I found 2 different install docs for module 3 and they were different. The two documents supposed to run change passwd script (apxchpwd) after installation, but a doc editing had 2 additional scripts (which I did not work). Can someone tell me please for the right installation instructions?
  
  (3) after research I found an old 2.2 installaction apex tutorial that says you have to install HTTP before the APEX. Apparently I misinterpreted the doc 3.1 install it says http was already included in oracle 9.2 or later. I guess I don't have no need to install HTTP since oracle xe is rel 10. Now, I think I have to install HTTP from the accompanying CD first before moving on to APEX 3.1.2. Is this correct?
  
  (3) it is said that it takes in the SYSTEM tablespace for apex 3 85 M. the size of the system tablespace is 76800 (default).
  Should I increase it before attempting to upgrade again? (I've waited the defect of being large enough since the apex is delivered with the db)
  
  (4) suggestions/advice for starting more are welcome! Again, I've seen 1 > doc on the way to a bad installation of cleaning. Both said to drop the flows_0300 user, but I told exec wwv_flow_upgrade.switch_schemas, I did until I tried the 2nd install. Am I supposed to run the switch_schemas or not to bad cleaning install? In addition, in the troubleshooting doc I don't see an option to call switch_schemas for my apex release (2.1) so I just followed the examples and by the following 'FLOWS_020100 '. for the parameter "FLOWS_020200". Was it a good or bad idea?
  
  (5) is there any other software (i.e. application, server?) that must be installed before or after the apex 3.1.2? Anything else I missed? The documentation is unclear and has omissions.

  I guess you do this on a Windows-based computer and Apex 3.1.2 has already been downloaded from the Web Application Express page and will use the http port 8080.

  NOTE: Make sure your Oracle XE database does not automatically start when Windows starts. If this is the case, then remove gently Oracle Database XE before proceeding with any of these steps.

  Step 1: Unzip Apex in an appropriate place (preferable "c:\oraclexe\apex").

  Step 2: Start a session SQL more than c:\oraclexe\apex and connect as a 'sysdba '.
  sqlplus / as sysdba

  Step 3: Install the Apex.
  SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP/i +@apexins / +.

  Step 4: Reconnect the server Oracle XE.

  Step 5: Assign/Set PATH to APEX of the images in the APEX_HOME folder where we decompressed APEX that is c:\oraclexe.
  + @apxldimg. SQL APEX_HOME +.

  Step 6: Assign / define credentials administrator to the APEX.
  + @apxxepwd. SQL votre_mot_de_passe +.

  Step 7: Restart the Oracle XE database.

  Step 8: Top configuration completed. The availability will be as follows:
  Availability of apex: http://localhost: 8080/apex
  Administrator of the apex: http://localhost: 8080/apex/apex_admin

  Follow these steps and let me know if it works for you or not.

  I'm having a hard time getting any time after 13:00 inserted in a TIMESTAMP field.
  
  I have a table named TRUCK with a column of timestamp TIME_IN. I've had APEX generate a form on TRUCK and TIME_IN is presented as a DATE in format DD-MON-RR HH24:MM PICKER.
  
  1. when I leave such TIME_IN generated on the shape of the APEX, I get this error when entering the time > = 13:00
  
  ORA-01849: time must be between 1 and 12
  
  2. when I use this calculation to modify the value of TIME_IN as follows after submit
  
  TO_CHAR (TO_TIMESTAMP (: P15_TIME_IN, 'DD-MON-RR HH24'), ' DD-MON-RR HH: MI AM ")
  
  I get this error:
  
  ORA-01858: a non-digit character was found here where was waiting for a digital
  
  3. Finally, when I omit the 'AM' in the format mask, I have no errors but any time after that 13:00 are incorrect - they are reduced to 12 hours
  (I mean that when I create a new record, after selecting 23:15 on the date picker, the time 11:15 is inserted in the table):

  TIMESTAMP support was added in version 2.2, so in the last version you use (2.1) it is not supported.

  First of all congratulations you could convince your boss for the upgrade!

  There is a big difference between the functions of APEX 2.1 and APEX 5.0.

  I suggest you go for the incremental modernization (although you can go directly to APEX 5.0). The steps are:

  • APEX 2.1 updated 4.2 of the APEX.
  • APEX to APEX 5.0 4.2 upgrade.

  Please make a backup before each test in-depth applications and updated after each update.

  Until you have completed the first step of the upgrade, I think dust will settle questions about the APEX 5.0 upgrade.

  APEX 3.2.x installation that follows is users:

  • Oracle Application Express Application user: APEX_030200
  • Oracle Application Express user files: FLOW_FILES

  So to determine the tablespace_apex and the tablespace_files you must connect with the user sys with sysdba privilege and run the following query:

  SELECT USERNAME
       , DEFAULT_TABLESPACE
    FROM DBA_USERS
   WHERE USERNAME IN ('FLOWS_FILES','APEX_030200')
  

  Then use the APEX_030200 user as tablespace_apex tablespace and a tablespace of the FLOW_FILES user as tablespace_files.
