In the network on a Windows 7 host bridge

Windows 7 makes me Hazel...

Host: windows 7 Home premium, 64-bit

VM server 2.0.1 OS: Fedora 9 (Linux)

OK, I tried in vain to my server using a NAT network configuration, so I have to go with the bridge network.  The network bridge works and is accessible from the HOST and other computers on the network.

My problem is that sometimes the host computer cannot be connected to the network, but still need access to the server via the web browser.  If the host is not connected to the network, it cannot communicate with the server.

It is my first installation of Windows 7.  On other installs with a bridge network, the ip address of the server would be in the same range (subnet) as VMnet8, but in this case, obtaining the IP address directly from the router.

Is there anything that I can take the host on the network and still have it be able to connect with the server vm via the web browser, ssh, etc...

Please remember, this is on Windows 7... I already know that this work on earlier versions of windows.

Thanx

If you need a network connection between the host and the guest so that the host has no active link, add a second card virtual NETWORK at the prompt, type "host-only' (VMnet1). Keep the default gateway to the NAT or comments on the bridge connection.

The host and guest can allways communicate via network "host-only '.

Asked this question in the Windows 7 forum also because the problem was between windows 7 and Vista.

    Hello

If it has started, you can try a system restore - an update "might" have caused the problem.

    1. try a system restore back to a point before that happened. And immediately thereafter enter
Control Panel - Windows updates - top left settings and set it to download and informs you instead
Automatic. Leave it until you are sure that everything is OK and then you can add them one at a time
to troubleshoot BUT click right on and HIDE all the driver updates. Also stop at day of drivers like below
and let this value - manually search for drivers when you think you need. (See how and why to)
    stop day of drivers below.)

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

To uninstall an update if you determine that there are problems - Panel - updated Windows - down left-
    Updates installed - uninstall

I had completely forgotten the system restore!  While looking into the system restore, I found that when I moved into my new House and has cable Internet installed, the cable technology installed a program of comcast on my computer.  This caused me to not be able to connect with other computers.  After rolling back to install it before it works!   Thank you.

  • Set the name of the network on a Windows 2012 without Active Directory Server

I have a Server Windows 2012 I use for DHCP, DNS and NAT on a network without a domain controller, and I don't want to create a domain.

When my Windows 7 clients connect, they identify the network with the name of 'network '. Is there a setting on the server, Windows 2012, that will allow me to change the name that clients identify the network with? I want something that is on the side Server and not to go and rename it on each client manually.

I noticed low-end devices how as access points, modems etc use their own custom network that clients identify their network with, so I guess it cannot be something too difficult...

    Thank you in advance.

  • Unable to connect to the internet with the NETWORK card and Windows Millennium Edition.

    Hello

I turned on my old computer yesterday, who has installed Windows Millennium Edition. At the back of the computer is an Ethernet port which is marked as LIEN ACT. The NIC with this port is Realtek 8139 PCI Fast Internet Adapter. I spend two hours on the Internet configuration and I did and finally got connected, but then, a few hours after, something went wrong and the Internet and the NETWORK card has stopped working! And the card has disappeared from the Device Manager, but he's still showing in network in Control Panel. I opened the computer and I reconnected it to the slot, but it did not help. At the back of the computer next to this port are two LEDs - green indicates the power that lights up when I plug the Internet cable and the other orange indicates actual connection. But now these two LEDs are not indicating something even when I plugged in the cable to the Internet, which comes from my router. In the computer a Dial Up connection PCI is installed too, but I disabled it. I used Dial-Up in 2002. So, I need help.
But I know that I can connect with this Ethernet card to the Internet because it worked for 3 hours, I've loaded the pages and downloaded programs.
Please don't point, should I upgrade Windows!
    Thank you.

  • Cannot search the network for Microsoft Windows (XP SP3)

    Hello

On holiday, I have a PC running Windows 8.1 and a former under XP (SP3), both connected to a Netgear router for Internet access.

Under Windows, 8.1, the XP PC appear not at all, even when I search by name.

The WinXP when I click (down posted by exploring folders) on "Microsoft Windows network", I got an Error Message:

Impossible to scan the network, you have no network, or the network is not started.

I've followed all the recommendations for sharing files between Windows 8.1 and XP:

    Same network type: private

    Even working group: PERSONAL

    Different names.

Option of sharing files on two PCs in network settings.

    Windows 8.1, I chose: encryption 40 or 56-bit.

I can share folders between your desktop in Windows 7 with Win 8.1 and Windows XP Home.

File sharing has been possible, in my view, before I've upgraded to SP3 of XP last year.

I know that Windows XP is not supported, but I need this old PC to display movies on my old TV (S_Video)!

    Thanks for your replies.

  • "No access to the network" problem in Windows 7 and error message "your computer seems to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS SERVER) is not responding."

Hello, I have a desktop PC and a laptop (DELL Inspiron N-4050).
I have problem with my internet connection cable which is working fine on my PC, but does not not on my laptop giving an error "no access to the network.

When I troubleshoot it says "your computer seems to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS SERVER) is not responding."
I said to many technicians of microsoft online response, but they could not solve my problem and said this is my DNS problem and advised me to contact my Internet service provider. Guess it's because of my internet so why it works on my PC not on laptop?

Yesterday, my ethernet cable pulled out my cell phone and I couldn't connect to the internet more. But on my desktop PC, it works perfectly fine. (I do not use wifi, if this information is also required) I have studied several threads with similar situations, and I have tried different methods to solve the problem to no avail. I did a system restore, but I'm having no luck. Also, I did not of the latest changes with my anti virus software and my LAN card drivers look to date.

When I remove my cable from the laptop and again connect my cable then it works but only after the PC sat for awhile.
1.I did flush DNS by typing "ipconfig/flushdns" in the command prompt.
    2. my IP address, DNS, subnet mask etc are set to automatic.
3.I also added physical address taken from command line giving "ipconfig/all". for the properties of the network driver settings.
4.I ' installed the drivers to date of 2014 on my laptop.
5.I did a lot of searching the web, but they do not solve my problem.

Please help me to solve it.
    I appreciate your help.

  • How to change the network card eth0 eth1 on host (Linux Debian 5 "lenny") til

    Hello

I just installed the server VMWare 2.0.1 for Linux 64 - bit version on my Linux Debian 5 "Lenny".

The host is also my firewall and unfortunately I was a bit quick in accepting the default settings, and this is why I agreed for the network card eth0.

I just installed my first virtual Ubuntu 8.10, but I can't see LAN, the virtual server is hung on the WAN card op.

    How can I change this?

Just re-run the script vmware - config.pl who will take you through the network configuration again. Note to all virtual machines powered off.

  • Network with UMTS card on host bridge

    Hello

I'm testing the latest vmware workstation on windows xp sp3. The guest operating system is win xp sp3. To connect my host to the internet, I use my UMTS card. For the comment system, I need network bridge due to a separate IP address in the guest computer. After starting the virtual machine (my host is to connect to the internet via my UMTS card, I get the message: "the network interface on the VMNet0 device is dow because the bridged Ethernet Interface is...) ». If I connect my host via a cable network or WIFI to internet, everything works fine.

How is it possible to connect my system of comments through 'bridge' to the internet?

    Thank you

    Joerg

I don't know if I understand your problem. Your host is connected via UMTS and receives a public ip address. You try to connect to your comments via the bridge, which means also there need a public ip address, but UMTS only serve one of them (this is normal). Therefore, you must use NAT for your comments, so that your host and your guest use the same public ip address.
