Set the name of the network on a Windows 2012 without Active Directory Server

I have a Server Windows 2012 I use for DHCP, DNS and NAT on a network without a domain controller, and I don't want to create a domain.

When my Windows 7 clients connect, they identify the network with the name of 'network '. Is there a setting on the server, Windows 2012, that will allow me to change the name that clients identify the network with? I want something that is on the side Server and not to go and rename it on each client manually.

I noticed low-end devices how as access points, modems etc use their own custom network that clients identify their network with, so I guess it cannot be something too difficult...

Thank you in advance.

My Alltel Wireless device again set the network location. And continues to change my network settings for the discovery of NW to:, as well as file sharing for: file public and sharing: read-only.  I have AVG Security 9.0 and under 'tools' and connections network shows several svchost with States reading service connections listening and unknown. I don't want no access to my computer and cannot find any computer consultants who can get this to stop. What can I do?

    Hello

    1. the options apply automatically on?
    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?
    3. have you installed any Alltel Wireless application to manage network connections?
    4. What is the current network location type on? Is it home, work or public?
Network discovery and file sharing settings depend on the network location. For examle, if you set the network as a public location it turn on file sharing.  So I would ask you to turn all the parameters and then choose the type of network and check if the parameters change again.

    Method 1.
I recommend you to check if the problem exists in clean boot. May be a third party application is causing these changes.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2.
Also check the settings under tools in AVG security suite. You may need to check with the help of AVG on it.
Or you can disable the antivirus software and check if that causes this behavior.
Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if the problem persists.
    Disable the anti-virus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    I hope this helps.

What are the security risks by allowing a program to change the registry keys in Windows 7, without knowing what are the changes?

    Hello

If you had made any changes in the registry without taking the backup copy of the registry, then there could be chances that your computer can find themselves in no situation to start and finally end up in the reinstallation of the operating system; This is why it is recommended to take a backup changed in the register of representation.

Before editing a registry key or subkey, we recommend that you export, or make a backup copy of the key or the subkey. You can save the backup copy to a location that you specify, for example, a folder on your hard drive or a removable storage device. If you make changes that you want to cancel, you can import the backup copy.

. Are what program you referring?

Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Set the network settings on Coredump PowerCLI problem

I want to use PowerCLI to set my 5.0 vSphere hosts so that they make a coredump on my server vCenter. I have a vCenter server with the installed Dump ESXi collector installation. I am familiar with the help of the CLI and the local RCLI to set these parameters, but I want to use PowerCLI.

    I have a variable called $esxcli. $esxcli = get-EsxCli - VMHost host1

Then $esxcli.system.coredump.network , we get the following:

    PowerCLI C:\ > $esxcli.system.coredump.network

    ===============================
    EsxCliElement: coredump.network

    Methods:
    --------
    NetworkCoredump get()

If I try to use the set command I get a 500 error internal server error. See the following topics:

    PowerCLI C:\ > $esxcli.system.coredump.network.set(1,"vmk0","192.168.1.220",6500)
The remote server returned an error: (500) internal server error.

    + CategoryInfo: InvalidOperation: (:)) [], RuntimeException)
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId: MethodInvocationException

I tried to put the port number quoted as citations in withdrawal of all fields, and it always returns the same error.

I gave in and used the vMA to set the parameters on the hosts. When I run the command $esxcli.system.coredump.network.get () I see the parameters as I entered. I am also able to use $esxcli.system.coredump.network.set (1) or $esxcli.system.coredump.network.set (0) which turns on or off the coredump of network function. However, I wish I could use PowerCLI to set all settings and activate the function.

This definition with the local esxcli command syntax is listed here at the following link. There first we define the interface, the server IP and port number. Once these parameters are defined, then we use another command to activate the function.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & externalId = 2002955

    To set up using ESXCLI:
    1. Open a console on the ESXi, the vMA host or another session where the vCLI is installed.
    2. Consider the current configuration using this command:
      esxcli system coredump network get
Specify the VMkernel network interface to use for outbound traffic and the IP address and the port number the coredump remote network by using this command server UDP:
      esxcli system coredump network set --interface-name <VMkernelInterface> --server-ipv4 <IPAddress> --server-port PortNumber

      Example:
      esxcli system coredump network set --interface-name vmk0 --server-ipv4 10.11.12.13 --server-port 6500
    3. Activate the coredump of network configuration by using this command:
esxcli system coredump network set --enable true
    4. Review and confirm the configuration by using this command:
      esxcli system coredump network get

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I love using PowerCLI doing automated generation and keep my consitent configurations. Many of my clients do not use Enterprise + if we cannot use the host profiles.

    Thanks again.

Asked this question in the Windows 7 forum also because the problem was between windows 7 and Vista.

    Hello

If it has started, you can try a system restore - an update "might" have caused the problem.

    1. try a system restore back to a point before that happened. And immediately thereafter enter
Control Panel - Windows updates - top left settings and set it to download and informs you instead
Automatic. Leave it until you are sure that everything is OK and then you can add them one at a time
to troubleshoot BUT click right on and HIDE all the driver updates. Also stop at day of drivers like below
and let this value - manually search for drivers when you think you need. (See how and why to)
    stop day of drivers below.)

I had completely forgotten the system restore!  While looking into the system restore, I found that when I moved into my new House and has cable Internet installed, the cable technology installed a program of comcast on my computer.  This caused me to not be able to connect with other computers.  After rolling back to install it before it works!   Thank you.

  • Unable to connect to the internet with the NETWORK card and Windows Millennium Edition.

    Hello

I turned on my old computer yesterday, who has installed Windows Millennium Edition. At the back of the computer is an Ethernet port which is marked as LIEN ACT. The NIC with this port is Realtek 8139 PCI Fast Internet Adapter. I spend two hours on the Internet configuration and I did and finally got connected, but then, a few hours after, something went wrong and the Internet and the NETWORK card has stopped working! And the card has disappeared from the Device Manager, but he's still showing in network in Control Panel. I opened the computer and I reconnected it to the slot, but it did not help. At the back of the computer next to this port are two LEDs - green indicates the power that lights up when I plug the Internet cable and the other orange indicates actual connection. But now these two LEDs are not indicating something even when I plugged in the cable to the Internet, which comes from my router. In the computer a Dial Up connection PCI is installed too, but I disabled it. I used Dial-Up in 2002. So, I need help.
But I know that I can connect with this Ethernet card to the Internet because it worked for 3 hours, I've loaded the pages and downloaded programs.
Please don't point, should I upgrade Windows!
    Thank you.

You can try a Bing search on connectivity to Win ME, I don't know there are still a few old sites that are not taken down you will find a few FAQ on.
