  I can't a vSphere replication device deployment.

  have followed the installation of "VMware vSphere Administration of replication" chapter and did everything that they asked (web client deployment, a web client plugin installation, by replacing VirtualCenter.FQDN with static IP address [my network has dns server without reverse lookup lausy, so I will try to put all the addresses static]).

  I am after a deployment wizard and after selecting the files from my drive (vsphere replication ovf10 (NOT the AddOn) - version 5.5), accepting the EULA, selection of folder/name it brings me to the selection of storage, where I select my internal store of host data.

  When I press Next there is an error: "could not establish an SSL with vCenter Server connection", then "Impossible to validate that the FVO can be imported to the server vCenter Server.

  I do not know if that could be relevant, but my server vcenter (5.5) runs on windows 2003 Server (only the https port is passed to 444 by default 443) and I was installing it a few times before I did.

  Please, give some advice.

• With vSphere 5.5 replication disaster recovery test

  I have a few virtual machines in our site of DR using a 24-hour RPO.  We will test by recovering virtual machines remotely, without affecting the production of virtual machines on our local site by selecting the option 'recover with the latest available data.  My question is after the replication can I 'pause' instead of 'stop' the task of replication during this test, so that after our test, I can resume the replication tasks?  This would cause a problem?  I don't want something to happen to the production of virtual machines on the side of the source.

  Currently Failover Test + Test cleanup function, without having to make a break or stop replication only works in VR, if using MRS. above it.

  RV without SRM, after failover, the only possible option is to stop replication. Perform the failover consolidates replica records in the target data warehouses and prepares the virtual machine configuration files.

  Yet after the replication is stopped, you can:

  -power off the virtual machine on the recovery after done with the test site

  -Remove the vCenter site recovery, leaving records in the target VM data stores

  -set up replication again and that it points to the existing disks in the warehouses of data target

  Although the UI will display 'Initial full sync', really VR calculates checksums and only changed disk blocks are transferred from the protected site.

• Requirements for vSphere remote site replication

  I run 3 Enterprise 5.5 x vSphere hosts in A Site with vCenter.   I want to add a new host in a remote site and configure vSphere replication between them.  Issues related to the:

  • Do I need to vCenter in slot 2?
  • If vCenter Site of A is the Site management and hosts of the Site B and Site A goes down, vSphere replicated VMs can be restarted to Site B without problem?
  • Is there a risk to not have a vCenter dedicated to Site B on the changeover plan?

  (A) If you have vCenter in slot 2, you will need to deploy device VR and match two VR UI sites.

  In the case where something happens to site A, losing vCenter and/or VR device, you can use vCenter and VR device to site B to perform a recovery after disaster and put in place the VMS to site B, inside of vCenter inventory B.

  (B) If you have no server vCenter in slot 2:

  1. There is no need to deploy handset unit of VR (embedded DB for server VRMS + VR + VRMS) for site B.

  2. you can deploy additional device VR-server only for site B, so that the replication traffic goes directly from the source ESXi to the correct server in VR.

  3. If the disaster arrives at the site, you must have vCenter Server and VRM in the combined unit of VR upward and running order to use the VR UI to perform a disaster recovery. If vCenter Server or VRMS manage warehouses of data target is corrupted/lost, the only way to recover after a disaster is to consolidate recovery replica logs manually rename and replicated configuration files and hope that consolidated records represent a coherent source VM instance. This procedure is subject, not officially supported, and care must be taken when building the redo logs, in order to ensure the consistency of the data in the disks of the virtual machine, not some partial block updates.

  Scenario - 2

  I did all dml and ddl change as I mentioned above but did not date and hour only instead manually I change date and time as below,

  25/03/15 12:55:34 (I tried this after 20 minutes and time mentioned is given by myself, did not double)

  "but my restoration and recovery completed successfully, but dropped table is 3 not restored and update the data in row as"Raja"want it as ' Haja" than the way it has been done before update, but has not changed.

  What is the problem here, why my restoration not complete successfully using manually mentioned date and time when it is successfully done using double query time-out.

  It is real simple, and after selecting sysdate double at some point has nothing to do with it.  The time of SET up is powered continuously "manually". He does not know or care that you provide once you have determined by selecting sysdate in double to an earlier point in time.

  You did your test update (change "haja' to 'raja' some time between 12:35:34-12:55:34.

  In scenario1, you did a TIME FIXED up an hour before your update.  Were recovered at that time and your data recovery operation as it was before the update... as it was at 12:35:34.

  In scenario 2, you did a TIME FIXED up to one hour AFTER your update. Thus, the recovery operation recovered all activities at 12:55:34.  It was AFTER your update, so when the recovery is complete, you have had your data as it was at 12:55:34.

• Can not pair sites in vSphere 6.1 replication

  I am faced with an error during the twinning of sites. Used to work in version 5.5 replication, but after upgrade, I can't pair it sites. DR location was built from scratch, with the same names for esx, vcenter and RV appliance servers. Also on the site main VR device was installed from scratch, only vcenter me lie down to version 6.x (latest)

  Now when I wan't to pair a sites that I get this error after the connection is successfully to the server DR CSP:

  Network is not a problem, because before upgarde replication worked without any problem, also I filled files hosts with respective titles on each of the sites, then ping with the FULL domain in labor OK.

  What is the procedure to protect that additional newly added VMDK?

  Yes, you can add an another VMDK to a replicated VM. Replication goes into an error state, and you must reconfigure replication and include the newly added to replicate disk.

  I ve seen a discussion about this in the forum, though none recently.

  Would it not possible to trigger a failover of PowerCLI?

  My thought is to trigger a script of our UPS in case PowerFailure to stop a virtual machine and it lights on another host in another location. I have only a virtual Center and the two hosts attached to it.

  The script should do the following.

  1. Stop the machine source
     
  2. Activate failover
     
  3. Turn on the destination on the new host machine.
     

  Would this be possible?

  The original question was about turn on/off the VM another host on a different location. I guess that there is no storage shared between the two locations. vSphere replication could be used to replicate the VMDK, but yes, there is currently no Automation (unless using the API of SRM and SRM currently requires two vCenter servers - each manage its location).

• PowerCLI and vSphere 5.1 replication

  We recently started using vSphere replication integrated in vCenter 5.1 and I was wondering if there are all the commands to monitor or configure replication using PowerCLI.

  I installed PowerCLI 5.1 and I tried to get-command * replication * and get-command * line * but nothing associated with VMWare.

  Nope, nothing is available at the moment.

  But there is Mike Lavericks books on SRM which contains examples of PowerCLI.

  Not sure if there is no replication scripts in this analysis however.

• vSphere includes VMware Data Recovery... correct?

  I was looking at the VMware data recovery product and it is pretty cool... until I saw that you had to buy it.  Then I saw this:

  "VMware Data Recovery is included in vSphere Enterprise Plus, advancedand Essentials Plus editions"

  But we have 'Enterprise '.  So I can't imagine you advanced include this product, but Enterprise does not work?  Are not undertaken a step upwards to advanced?  Then shouldn't company not also understand this?  According to me, it's a bit unfair - but I hope it's just a bad impression.

• Recovery scenario - vote drive does not match the guid of cluster

  Think you can not start your guest virtual machines just because it has a corrupted root system.img image. And suppose that it contains 5 physical disk (which are all created by the model CARS) where ASM on them.
  What is the easier recovery of computers scneario virtual comments (RAC)?
  
  Can this be a plausible scenario to retrieve availability? (Assume that both of the RAC system images are corrupted and we do not prefer a level system rather than backup recovery / restore)
  
  1 create 2 RAC instances using the same details of networking and the hostname that is corrupt. -Use the new 5 different drives.
  2 stop the newly created instances. Place the disks for instances newly created using virtual machine Manager.
  3. Add the old records the image system is unable to be corrected, but ASM disks are still in use (since the newly created instances using VM manager.) for newly created instances.
  4. open the newly created instances
  
  We want that the DSO and CRS have been initialized and be opened without problem?
  
  When I try this script I get the error the cssd/crsd shows.

  you have a similar problem, trying to clone data bases with 11.2.
  The problem is that a cluster is identified uniquely, and this information is considered in the OCR and voting disks. So exactly these 2 should not be cloned.

  To achieve what you want, simply configure your system in this way, you have a diskgroup separated for OCR and vote (and ASM spfile), should not be restored in the case of szeanrio.
  Only all files in database in ASM will then be exchanged later.

  Then what you want is possible.
  However, I'm not sure that the RAC models have the ability to install the OCR and vote in a separate diskgroup.

• ESXi 4 disaster recovery scenario

  We are all new to VMware. What we have is only the ESXi hypervisor (running on a Dell PowerEdge R900) and use the VMware Client software for the management of VM of comments.

  The question is - is it possible through some utilities VM to create a backup of the hypervisor configuration settings?

  We use a third-party utility to save the hosts Server VM (Windows Server 2003), but is not able to do this for the hypervisor. Now if there is an accident, I have to re - install the hypervisor from scratch, and I think that all settings currently in the hypervisor, which specify the perameters and virtual host settings would be lost and will have to either be recovered some form of download of backup or a file snapshot of the hypervisor or reinstalled from a local list of settings of the hypervisor.

  If someone has a link to the relevant tutorial or explanation for the recovery of the parameters hypervisor system crash, your help is greatly appreciated.

  You can use something like Winscp or pscp (PuTTY utils part).

  I have a test database and due to some hardware questions I lsot my group of redo that was in effect, now when I'm opening my database, it gives the following error:
  ORA-00313: open failed for the members of the group log 1 of thread 1
  ORA-00312: thread 1 1 online journal:
  ' C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\TEST\REDO01. JOURNAL"
  
  I tried to drop the Group of redo, but it gives the following error:
  ORA-01623: log 1 is the current journal because cannot remove the test instance (line 1).
  ORA-00312: thread 1 1 online journal:
  ' C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\TEST\REDO01. JOURNAL"
