  • ColdFusion does not take into account the NTFS permissions

    I have seen some older posts who have applied this same question, but there is no resolution in the thread.  I posted on these threads asking if they have found a solution, however thought I would question myself and I hope someone has a fix/work around.

    CF10, W2008R2, IIS 7.5. With the help of a group with NTFS permissions to restrict access to pages.  Anyone can view the page if set a user name and password in the Windows Security window, click ok and immediately prompt again, click Cancel and you can see the content of the page.  Tested with an html page and html page is blocked properly.  It is my understanding that IIS passes control to cf, cf the cfm page.

    Since it comes to IIS 7.5, the checkbox to check if the file exists that worked in IIS6 it is not any longer, it is now under mappings.  I saw in a thread dscussion about editing a generic character mapping, but it is vague and did not have the parameters that I need to solve this problem, or I didn't get based on what I see on our server.  I put the .cfmHandler in 'file', and that did not work. I have a generic handler in the name column, but there are * in the path column, if it was not clear what's really magical generic mapping, I'm looking for.

    I can't believe this problem exists since IIS7, and there is no clear guidance on the subject. Someone must have thought of it... without going through NTFS permissions and not being is not able to restrict access to a group are not a small question, in my opinion anyway. I've looked everywhere, I hope that someone here knows what is the magic answer...

  • RDM and NTFS permissions

    Hey guys. Quick question about the RDM and NTFS permissions. I have a server of physical file with a 1 TB lun presented to her. I need to convert this machine to a virtual machine. I know I can set the lun existing to the virtual machine as RDM (virtual) and retain the benefits that ESX provides, that is to say, vMotion. I tested and it works fine. However, I have 2 questions about this configuration:

    1. Actions/NTFS permissions will be still intact after I have present the lun ROW for the operating system called? Man, I sure hope that if. This test was not so easy. Anyone can check it by experience?

    2. Any way to hide the lun ROW of the Wizard "add storage? When present you a lun to a host ESX group and use as RDM, it still shows upwards in the wizard when I try to add storage. Now, I know that I can keep track of the ID lun that prevent me from potentially selecting and formatting as VMFS... but my co-workers my not be aware. My point is, I wouldn't see it kill himself accidentally. Am I the only person annoyed with this?

    Any help is most appreciated, as always. Thank you.

    If logic unit number is defined as a ROW, add storage won't be able to use it, or even see. It does not to my RDM.

  • Windows Vista Home Edition: The permissions of Reseting back to zero/all around, or default system restore reset. ?????????????

    Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas: 2 Questions actually & I have Windows Vista Home Edition...:

    (1) I begun to change some permissions under the Security tab of the properties, and now they are screwed... How can I reset just all permissions to the default settings? Help, please! Boy, I'm arrested for murder... My laptop about to be thrown through the window of a building-sky.

    (2) is there a way to reset or restore my system? I don't like to lose anything it all. I saved what I want or need. I just want to start from scratch...

    In fact, I have 1 other question... Whole reason I messed my permissions first is because I've had this laptop second hand and I did EVERYTHING to get rid of the old owners as a user name and I IMPOSSIBLE... It drives me crazy. I am the owner / administrator and there is no other user accounts, but still all my programs and files have this other names of people on them.

    How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • Windows server 2012 default behavior services
    Hi all
    I recently installed Windows server 2012 R2 on my PC and found that the Windows update service "wuauserv" starts and stops automatically after a certain time. I think the same happens for Windows 8 and 10 more. The startup type indicates that automatic (early release). Through various articles and forums, I realized that this is the default behavior, introduced in Windows where inactive services will stop automatically and works only when triggered by certain policies.
    I want to change this default behavior and want Windows update services to be able to run always. Could you please tell how to make these changes.
    Kind regards
  • How can I automate the NTFS permissions?
    Our directory structure has redundancy: C:\Project1, C:\Project2, C:\Project3, etc.
    Under each folder of the project, the subdirectories are similar: C:\ProjectX\Sub1, C:\ProjectX\Sub2, C:\ProjectX\Sub3, etc.
    We would like to allow to assign permissions to subfolders different NTFS, once the main project folder is created. By example, if I create C:\Project1, I want these subfolders to create and with these permissions:
    • C:\Project1\Sub1: Write privs to Group1
    • C:\Project1\Sub2: Reading only privs for group2
    • C:\Project1\Sub3: Write privs to everyone
    I think that this should be done either through Group Policy or script (even if other alternatives would be appreciated). Could someone give us help on how this started? References would also be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
  • Where can I find and download Windows XP Pro to repair my "Windows Update by default places"?
    I'm unable to receive Microsoft updates. Fix Windows - it says: "the default Windows update locations have changed and must be repaired.     You can run checkdisk from a command prompt, but it would be better to burn Hiren's boot cd a copy or burn a bootable cd with the recovery on her console.
    Open the cmd prompt
    type chkdsk c: /r press on enter
    type y for Yes, press enter
    Type exit press on enter
    restart the pc
    It is a long process, percentages fluctuate, it is normal, let checkdisk finish
    If errors were found and corrected then run again until no error
    You can view the report in the event viewer.
    go to start, run, type eventvwr.msc and click ok
    in the event viewer go to the application directory by clicking on applications in the left pane
    in the right pane, scroll to Winlogon and double-click
    After this do the following please:
    Click Start, run and enter in the box:
    Msinfo32
    Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.
