Inability to use Efax

I spent HOURS trying to fix the inability of my printer to send faxes.  I bought a new non HP laptop about a month ago and this new thinking point caused the problem.  I finally discovered that this problem is not only limited to me through this forum.  What really aggravates me, aside from the fact that I can't use my printer for the main reason that I bought it, it is that HP has not attempted to communicate with me (or apparently other owners) regarding this problem.  My printer is registered with HP, I receive emails DAILY from HP trying to sell me their products, but not an alert about this problem.  It would have saved me countless times to try to fix something that was not my fault.  Also, I changed my phone service since the fixed service home wireless network is based on the fact that I got EFAX.  You see, home wireless service can be used for faxing.  I decided to go with wireless because I got EFAX... or so I thought that I did.   I have a two-year contract to service home wireless, I'm really stuck.

I'm sorry to hear about the functionality of eFax on your printer and the lack of communication.

I would call the HP's Cloud service.

They have an option to keep you fax until this problem is solved correctly.

    I had the pop up ads sensation can cause the problem and talked about it to the engineer in computer science from my father.     I am semi-retired and depend on my XP system during a large part of my income.    Yesterday, my hard drive "took a dive", and I upgraded my computer with a second hard disk, burner CD, etc., etc.   However, somewhere along the way I lost the ability, integrated with this when I bought it in 2001, to open and edit the JPEG and other picture files.  PAINTING has been my main editing tool for photos on which I rely.   My opening software allowed me to crop, change the contrast, color saturation, etc. etc.  I don't had fooled it with all this in so long, that I can't even remember the name of the program!   My technician downloaded XP service Pack 3.   And I'm pretty sure it's something simple.   But while I have become adroit enough with my computer and was able to reinstall my scanner, printer, etc., etc., I never did quite this kind of reconfigure.   I know that I had ANY software program that came with the computer or the attendant to the scanner and printer, etc, etc.     He had twelve hours now and I have pictures that I need to get online as soon as POSSIBLE.

    In short: help!  Help, please!

    My old hard drive could not be recovered.  No files have been saved.  No program.  No files have been transferred, but I

    generate new photos every day!  And I cannot now meaningfully change them.  I need to crop, lighten, Darken,

    change the color balance, etc. etc and IMPOSSIBLE.

    When I click on my JPEG files (and probably all OTHER files!)  I don't get any guest of 'open '.   I can not even FIND paint, I used every day.  I got XP Professional Service Pack 3, apparently.   Yes, I think that every single Windows Update has been loaded and installed.   As far as I know, or paint, or Photoshop (I think that's what has been!) is on my computer or activated.

    If you double click left photo it will open in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer?

    Paint comes with Windows... If you want PhotoShop, you will have to
    buy it. (he might have image editing software included in)
    your original OEM but package that was lost when your hard drive is dead
    unless you have records of installation for the individual programs)

    For painting... go... Start button / all programs / Accessories / Paint.
    If you do not paint... try the following steps to install it.

    from Microsoft and it has cropping and editing capabilities.

    About 5 days ago I couldn't access my browser anymore. The same message is displayed every time that I have enter a URL or try to look for something.     Will try "manage connections" and disable "mobile network"... wait a few minutes... turn it back on. Also do a battery Pull:
    1. remove the battery while the phone is turned on
    2. wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. wait for the long end of the boot process (takes a few minutes usually)

    This clears most of the software problems that occur on the BlackBerry from time to time. You can also use Quickpull, a free application that simulates a battery pull without removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
    A battery pull gets lost when using the applications memory and clears minor software errors that creep over time. The blackberry is running an operating system just like your PC is running windows and battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot / restart your computer.

    After further research, I think this should be classified as a plugin problem...

    Firebug 1.7 X A10 causes two title bars (standard windows bar and a second inside with the new tab in Firefox just orange... both with minimize/maximize/close buttons), and other bizarre behaviors listed below:

    Any saved tabs to before the installation/activation are gone.
    Choosing Addons in menu does nothing. After you open a new empty tab Addons Manager is responsible.
    Choice of feedback-> me xxxx, does nothing.
    Hit the reload button does nothing
    URL bar (page address) remains the same between tabs (if changes to the loaded page)
    Addon Firebug works fine.

    After obtaining the Addon Manager (it took a bit of work to do) and disable Firebug, all problems are gone. My story of previous tab is also returned.

    This seems to be specific to Windows XP. I installed this version of Firebug with Win7 with success.

    Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I see you want to learn how to set up your printer Officejet 5740 so all eFaxes that your receipt is printed.

    I presume that you have connected your printer to your wireless network or it is connected by an ethernet cable to your router so that the printer has internet access. I'm also assuming that you have already subscribed for eFax.

    To have your eFaxes printing on the printer, you must configure the ePrint printer function. Please start with the code of request to printer. You can use the e-mail address of the printer default ePrint to enter your eFax for an e-mail account to receive faxes too. If you want, you can customize the address of e-mail to HP ePrint.

    You can fax using eFax to any fax machine, not only for faxes IP based...

    eFax servers must be able to communicate with any fax by using his phone number, its type regardkless.

    The network you should be interested will generally be the first listed item.  By following the previous steps, you can check this on your computer.

    As Super-Dave pointed out, however, this printer has a built-in for eFax support.

    To use eFax with this printer, you synchronize your eFax account with your email and print faxes that you receive as attachments to email like you would for any other file.
