Incompatible space between paragraphs

Hi people,

I run in an embarrassing problem at present. I recently changed the paragraph style for my main text body since there is a space between paragraphs in any space and a withdrawal of first line. Seems simple enough to do. Unfortunately, the results are inconsistent. For a few paragraph breaks, it seems fine. For others, there is always a space between breaks and the first line indented. Space after and before are all two to 0 px. I tried a backspace and then pressing on to re-enter, but the result is the same. I re - apply the style of paragraph and checked for substitutions.  Any ideas?

I use InDesign CC. Recently moved from CS6. Maybe it was a mistake.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew Barton

You are aligning the first line of the paragraph to the grid. See the control just below the space b / has.

  • Unformattable Indesign text - how to remove the spaces between paragraphs?

I have a 95 page indesign document. I have a few unwanted spaces between paragraphs. I could not get rid of these spaces. I tried to replace the formatting, using the window styles to paragraph, but in this case indesign does not yet recognize the formatting. I put paragraphs in form to 0P0 before and after paragraphs, and yet space remains between some paragraphs. I'm going crazy!

The problem lies in the text imported into strange formatt, but that was five years ago and I don't even have access to the original text to try to import once more. Perhaps because it is a document to Indesign c5 and c6 now I use?

    Any help appreciated with gratitude,

    Sam

After checking the object applied to blocks of text style: text frame JWK it shows under text frame General Options/Vertical Justification/Align/Justify (Peter Spier mentioned above about this possibility). I would put this Align/Top. Also when you changed the paragraph to align on the grid he left some gaps on some pages. I have put that back in would line up on the starting grid. There will be a reshuffle of the text when you do. To check if everything looks as it should. Make a copy of the file and make your changes there just in case, and let us know how it goes.

  • Space between paragraphs

    Hello

For a long time, I used InDesign CS4 and am wondering if there is a solution to my question?

I started a digital book where I'm using 14pt Garamond first Pro Medium with a line spacing of 16.

Under certain conditions, I would double 'Enter' between the two paragraphs, but space is big!

Reduce the space between two paragraphs?

Please let me know and you please tel me how to proceed.

    Kind regards

    Jean

You do not put your mouse between two paragraphs. You select one of the paragraphs (one above or below), and you use the attribute space above or below the space. It is actually very similar to Microsoft Word.

Here are some pictures. Select a paragraph. Create attributes for the size of the police, conducting (what you call "line spacing"), perhaps a withdrawal of first line. In the paragraph Styles Panel, choose new paragraph Style. I called mine exemplary body.

To add space between paragraphs, go in the indents and spacing Panel (left). Set the value of the space below as shown below:

I use picas and points (by default to the United States), but it would be the same if you were specifying millimeters or centimeters.

  • Creating a shortcut to remove space between paragraphs

We recently did a redesign of the computer at our place of business, and we used to have a shortcut when they hit it, it would remove the spaces between a paragraph. I tried to look under paragraph styles and text and can't seem to find how it has been implemented.

It depends on how the space were inserted. If they are the result of the space-before or after the space attribute, then you can edit your paragraph Styles to remove the space.  If your document has unfortunately been implemented without the help of styles, you can select and remove the space in the paragraph Panel.

If spaces were inserted by adding an extra paragraph of return, then you can use GREP find and change

I think it's in pre-defined searches: multiple Return to return only

    To find

    ~ b ~ b +.

  • More space between paragraphs: is there a way to remove that?

I am importing a word document text for formatting in InDesign. It's 150 pages of a book that I will put on the page.

I made a mistake while writing the book with word by creating a space between each paragraph, I now want to get rid of.

Is it possible to automate this process with InDesign? Is there a way to remove the extra space between my paragraphs and add a dash instead automatically?

    Hi craigatadobe12345

You can do this by making "^ p ^ p" in search and replace "^ p ^ t ' with the Find/Replace window. This removes the extra line and set a tab to indented text.

Below is the screenshot of the same thing. It could be that useful...

  • Search for spaces between sentences

The use of Pages 5.6.2, I noticed that the grammar checking is declining not when there is only one space between sentences.  Unfortunately, the document I'm trying is a collection of Cup and sticks of various authors and some of the writers have chosen to use the single-spaced.  I noticed that MS Word 15.25 accentuates not simple spaces either.

It is true that I am not the best when it comes to writing, but even when spacing has become acceptable?

Grammar checking should catch these and select the at least?

    Dave Razorsek wrote:

Since computers replaced typewriters, over thirty years ago.

Each processing allows front or after paragraph space, which is controllable in thin slices and can be applied uniformly by Styles if you want to add an extra space between paragraphs.

If you want a clean and readable document, it is best to clear the text of all multiple wee, multiple tabs in a row, combined tabs and Word spaces, wee before punctuation and multiple returns. They are all characteristics of typists messy lovers IE most everyone.

The main objective of the processing/composition is clarity, readability and focus. Adjustments for those who are difficult if users have crowded the text with bad manuals (usually random) attempts of separation by adding irrelevant and unnecessary characters.

  • Decrease the space between the < p > tags

Does anyone know a good way to decrease the amount of space between paragraphs? I tried to reduce the margin down to the p tag, but it does not work. I have to create a special class and apply it on the paragraphs in question? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You are welcome.  I assume that this question has been answered.

  • How to create a paragraph style that I can change the space between the paragraphs of return?

    Sample.jpg

Yes, and you can see the additional empty paragraphs. You must use find/replace to delete (there is an application integrated in the drop-down list in the dialog box).

If you need space between, you'll need to have styles of paragraph two, one for the name of the company and one for the address info and hours. Apply space before the name or space after the address.

  • Can I borrow a space between the previous paragraph?

Can someone help me how to get the following provision in a convenient way (see image)?

Each has its own verse begins paragraph by a number superscript. The italicized text are references that appear at the end of the verse they cover. If there is room at the end of this verse (see verse '7' in the image attached), the cross reference is placed on the last line of this paragraph. But if there is no room for all of the last line of the verse reference I put below, either completely (see "3" and "6") or partially (see ' 1 'through ' 9').

Given that paragraphs are justified with the last line aligned to the left I put now a hard return before all that go not the cross reference, a soft return (SHIFT + ENTER) would cause the last line of the verse thus justified. But this creates an inconsistency that bothers in my styles. Sometimes, cross-references will be part of the same paragraph for his verse, sometimes it won't and sometimes will separate the cross-references between two paragraphs. Is it possible to have all the cross-references in their own points and let them "borrow" the amount of empty space between the previous paragraph to make the appearance of the image? Or should I fix this manually from verse to verse?

Bibles exist a specific plugin or a system for InDesign. Problem, it is only available for the Bible societies, I forgot the name.

But I often have to put in place the texts of the Bible, I do so:

Nested style up the letter for the verse number, Normal main text

Shift tab before the reference part, that changes the font for the character for the References style.

can I use a space m with references

The space m is used as the distance between the text and reference support.

The base style uses a smaller font and no break, that is kept grouped, except if it becomes longer than a line, I have to use a manual line break followed by an another tabulator shift, but I think that it would be possible to automate more.

  • The space between two different paragraph style

    Hello!

I'm working on a book, and I would like to first of all a standard space between two paragraph styles.

I have the paragraph of text and the reference point. I would like to put an extra space when a paragraph of text is followed by a reference point and vice versa.

I usually do it in html with CSS, it's like

    p.text + p.citation {pad-bottom: 5px;}

My goal is to have a space between the text and citations, even if citations are multi point (and of course, without any paragraph empty additional)

    Is this possible?

    concerning

    Lila

You probably need to two additional styles to represent the paragraph "first" that uses the text or styles of citation, with spacing before added, and text or reference style defined as following Style, like matches, for each, so that you can use for the first paragraph after a change. You can base teas on current styles and just add space.

I wonder if there is some sort of growing space between a bullet tag and tag bodytext, keeping the space between the 2 balls unaltered. Other programs have been a long time but I can not understand how do in CS4.

N ° for the space around lists, make three models: bulletbegin, bulletmiddle, bulletend. The first style must have extra space above, the last style must have extra space below.

I've always wanted a characteristic of the interaction style like the one you describe, and I used to love the spacing to Ventura, who collapsed additional space contiguous to the highest number (if a paragraph has 6 points after the next paragraph has 3 pts before, Ventura gives you 6 points after), but I've never seen a program that would allow the space with some style interactions. What are the programs "have done this for years?
