    Background:

    I had been using InDesign CS5 for a few years on my Win7 Ultimate x 64 machine.   A year and a half ago, I reloaded the OS and did not reinstall InDesign as I didn't need so.  It is used for a project once every six months near the end of the year. My InDesign CS5 is the update to Pagemaker, - installation is in the download file obtained via the Download Manager when licensed by Adobe in 2010. I think that it was updated to CS5.5 during that period but I have no file to install CS5.5,

    Problem:

    Tried to re - install at this time, and Setup fails.  He accepts the serial number but does not end: * I have attached the complete list of the errors at the end of this post.  I tried the install several times - initially with all InDesign bells and whistles, then restart your computer and retried and then again after restart a second time with no selected InDesign extensions (thinking that perhaps one who may be the cause) but no change in symptoms.

    Discussion:

    I think it's either something fundamental with InDesign CS5 in conflict with some Win7 updated since the time when InDesign CS5 has worked, or interaction with other Adobe products.

    Had been, time where everything worked fine:

    XI of Photoshop CS5, Dreamweaver CS3, Acrobat 8 Standard, and Adobe Reader.  Applications for assistance are: Bridge CS3 and CS5, Extension Manager CS3 and CS5, Extendscript Toolkit 2 and CS5 and Device Central CS3 and CS5.

    Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help.

    I'm running Windows 7 64 - bit Enterprise Edition machine. This machine has been implemented by me yesterday - any new installation of all software. I have installed Adobe CS5 Master Collection. Almost everything works as it should, however, the extension manager will load any.

    When I click on the shortcut or .exe in the folder nothing happens - no windows or anything like that. When I check the process of the system, I can see it in the list and I finished it.

    I have ready about 50 different discussions on this issue and here is where I am:

    (1) I have the Setup log file. Everything loads it properly.

    (2) I checked my verision of Air - installed and up to date.

    (3) the last thing I did was found in a post by an Adobe employee and I have included it below:

    I guess that you connect to the field of work. Is this true? Could you please try to run the extensions as a local administrator user manager? You don't have to connect to the local computer, always connect to the domain instead. Make sure you have a local administrator account. Press the SHIFT key, click with the right button on "Extension Manager CS4.exe", select "Run as a different user" context menu, enter your local account (format: < Nom_de_votre_ordinateur >-< LocalAdministratorUserName >) and password, click OK.

    Article 3 number worked perfectly for me. I'm on a computer in the domain. My account is an administrator account, but I thought I'd give it a try nonetheless. I followed the instructions above and BAM, it worked. I closed the extensions Manager and tried to open it the normal way, no luck.

    Based on this information can someone help me solve this problem? I have a few extensions I need to settle for a project that I need to Pack today, and this could push me in the weekend.

    Advice or tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Sorry, in my post, "local user account" should be "account for domain user", it's my typo. You must add permissions to SJanes.

    The first cause does not seem to result of permission, but conflict. Please move all files under "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\ #Security\FlashPlayerTrust" somewhere, then launch the extension manager in the normal way. If it worked, then a specific software that relates to one of these files conflicts with the extensions Manager. You can move these files one by one to see what software it is back.

    So I worked on this document for about an hour and I went to register for the first time, I know it's bad, "save" and "save under" buttons are grayed. I tried looking through the preferences, and I tried to look through the different modes, I'm in, but nothing works.

    The file is a web document, and there is nothing extraordinary, just rectangles and a placed image to a photoshop file, which I think is the problem. InDesign allows me to create a new file, all types, but once I do anything for the new file I even once can't save at all. A few other problems last too, as the hot corners were buggy (doesn't work sometimes) and when I drag a rectangle, the entire document fills with the color of the rectangle, it is impossible for me to get the position I want.

    Finally, I read about the clear cache preferences and things like that, but I don't know if this is the solution. Also, I would try to not restart InDesign before trying other ways, because I have the bees working on this issue for a while. But if it's the only way I can get it to work again, I.

    You can export to .idml? If you can, do and close ID and reset preferences, then make a new doc to test and see if you can save before trying to work with the the.idml file.

    If you can't export, you either have more than probably lost you work, but there's a really drastic thing you can try, and it's force close InDesign (use the Task Manager on Windows or Force Quit on a Mac), then replace the prefs and revive the ID. You will be asked if you want to retrieve, but sometimes just asking. Immediately, try to save again with a new name or export to .idml.

  • InDesign CS6 will not retain any preferences

    One of my users has been recently updated for CS5 Design and Web Premium CS6.  The first problem is that the InDesign program crashes from time to time for no apparent reason.  Second, the InDesign program will not retain the preferences.  If the program crashes and is restarted, the preferences are lost.  In addition, if the program is normally closed and reopened, preferences are lost.  This started happening about a month ago and before that, there is no problem.

    I have searced forums and the internet for a solution and while I could find similar problems with other users, I can not find a solution.  Re-setting the program did not produce a resolution.  If anyone can help with this frustrating problem.

    Lisa, all of the experts from Adobe here are useless. They bombard you with questions, and theories.  I am a computer scientist of operations who was responsible for resolving problems and issues of the software. I have do this usually by the process of elimination.  Most of these people is applications users who call the IT operations people to solve their problems, when this stuff happens.

    Here's what I did to fix the problem.  I saved all the users of windows profile settings to a different folder.  Then I deleted the windows end-user user profile.  He then recorded in the PC and his profile has been recreated.  He was then able to configure its settings in InDesign.  These preferences and settings are now retained when it disconnects, stops, restarts, etc...

    I know this isn't the best solution, but only slightly.  The key is to make sure you have saved/backed up all data users and their user in windows profile settings.

    Has anyone tried to see if InDesign CS5 will work with MacOS Sierra? I have creative cloud and CS5 on my machine, but due to some of the things that I have to work that only work with CS5 to CS6 I have to keep my old software. I hesitate to upgrade to Sierra until I know if InDesign CS5 will work or not.

    If anyone has tested this, I would be recognizing the return flow, thank you.

    It really depends what you do with it, and a large part of the framework has changes in the operating system for how the application is designed to run in. Your workflow can cause problems when the application works for others or you might be able to use it, but keep in mind has more no support for CS5 Adobe or Apple, so do not expect to solve any problems that you can discover.

    There is a simple solution to this problem.  The HP Online Crash Analysis Team has finally responded to my email after 34 days.  I had given up hearing from them despite several requests to repeat.

    I had completely disassembled the laptop trying to find the bios setting the jumpers on the motherboard in response to an idea contained in one of the PM, I sent... all to nothing does not...

    OCAT told me to look in the BIOS under "system configuration" for the Native SATA support.  The last update of the BIOS resets this point 'activated', but that only works for Vista & Win 7.  This must be set to "disabled" for XP and previous operating system.

    I hope that this post will save someone having to wait 5 weeks invest hours of work for a solution that took 3 minutes!

    Finally I got it! The problem was on the ID fields, where to load the application.

    I have two monitor, managed by the nView Desktop Manager. So ID has been busy away from my office, I know not why.

    But strangest of all, ID no was not shown in the application tab in the 'management of active processes.

    So I disabled the Manager the nview and ID appear.

    But it is a big bug ID, which Adobe has to manage.

    Just downloaded the iOS for Firefox app. The user interface is simply amazing but the only thing that annoys me is that it will not charge if my phone is not connected to a hotspot or Wi - Fi.     What exactly do you mean by "user interface will not load? Please tell us what you were doing, what you expect and what happened in as much detail as you can, and what version of Firefox you use (using one of the New Zealand app store right?) iPhone and the iPad or the iPod Touch you are using and what version of iOS.

    I just did the following iOS 8.4.1, iphone on Firefox for iOS build 43 (which is the same build that you can find on the iOS App Store New Zealand), 6, with:

    1. disabled the WiFi so he went to LTE
    2. startup of Firefox for iOS
    3. surfed at twitter.com and the site loaded, and then typed on a link and it loaded

  • Some Web sites will not load

    Some websites will not load or partially charge and will be usually just load the site title and nothing else and will have a spinning wheel at the top which will not stop.
    They tend to work on FF before, but no more.

    Also, when I click on another link or something like that it will show the whole page as it is supposed to be for the duration it takes to switch the clicked link. I can, for example, (though I'm pretty fast) click on another link and then cancel it and I'll be able to see the page (in some really weird stuff).

    I read something about Java Script doing this problem, I turned off Java script and I could see some of the sites, but Needless to say that certain features of the Web site are lost.
    Happens on websites very little well but still enough to annoy me. I don't like not only 2 or 3 sites from switching browsers.

    I'm sure it has something to do with Java Script, but was not able to understand that even after reading some of the questions here.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

    You can check for problems with preferences.

    Delete possible user.js and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.
