InDesign paragraph styles

Hello

I got a converted file from Quark to InDesign, and I have the following problem.

I have several lists like this:

Screenshot 2016-08-18 15.08.32.png

You can see the lines got offline, but if I look under paragraph styles that it does not appear as having rules on:

Screenshot 2016-08-18 15.09.59.png

Any ideas?

They are in fact rules of Pará? If so, drop-down menu that appears above the rule and check the parameters of the rule below the rule below.

    When the InCopy user opens him InDesign file or assignment - the preferred/normal workflow - all paragraph styles are included. Then they scroll the document to find your text block empty and then check it out for editing. All styles are always at their disposal.

    Looks like you have IC users open linked InCopy stories (BCTI files) directly. It is possible to do, but as you have seen, a side effect is that then they get only the styles used in this story. (Along w / many other disadvantages.) Since there is no text in the history, there is no recorded her styles.

  • Using GREP InDesign paragraph Style

    I'm still stuck... I wrote with success the GREP command to search for all instances of the Dollar and percentage out of the States within a body of text that looks like this: ((\$\d+((ea|pk|pr|set|\s|$))) | () \d+\ % DISCOUNT))

    But I don't want the formatting to occur if the Word save precede the statement of Dollar, see my screenshot.
    Screen shot 2011-05-13 at 2.28.40 PM.png
    Now, I tried to paste only the statement above in a negative lookbehind statement but I just cannot operate unless I specifically address the above text as: \$30(?<!) Save \$30)--permutation the \$30 with ((\$\d+((ea|pk|pr|set|\s|$))) | () \d+\ % DISCOUNT)) it breaks completely.

    You almost had it!

    Yes, Lookbehind negative is the key - but you must put in place. The postanalyse "starting to work" to the position that you insert in the match string, if during your first attempt

    \$30 (?.)

    It is first that he finds the "$ 30" and then--from the end of this string-, he looks back to see if it matches to "save $30"... it tests ' $30 ' against 'Save'. "". " Put the postanalyse 'Save' at the beginning it will work like this:

    Hi guys, I seek to import InDesign paragraph styles in Illustrator and seem unable to do. Does anyone know the trick?

    Fernandes

    You can try to create a paragraph Style in InDesign and use the add-in selected in my current library CC button style to add it to a library.

    Of course not all that InDesign can specify style is supported by the Illustrator, but you can select a type in Illustrator and click the InDesign style in your CC library to apply it.

    In the paragraph style, how to insert the selection to the last paragraph symbol.

    Please someone help me solve this problem.

    I have attached the screenshot of the sample. Like that, I have to insert "selection" symbol (three points) in the indesign paragraph style options.

    Very simple to do this, follow these steps

    1. double click on the paragraph style if you created (if this isn't the case create a new paragraph style, see the image)

    2. in paragraph style options, choose paragraph nets and do all the settings, see the image

  • [win] [js] [cs4] find/replace the paragraph styles without losing the replacements the

    Hi guys I need some help here.

    I created a javascript script that will find and replace paragraph styles for the DOCFILE with indesign paragraph styles. everything works fine but the problem is that, when she applies paragraph styles, he loses all replacements the. I tried:

    changetext (false);

    but his does not work, this is a kind of conditional parameter that I can put in the function changetext() so that it used clear local overrides?

    Thank you.

    Horse

    Use findGrep() (or findText()) instead of changeText(). This returns an array of items found. Then, you can loop through the array and apply a paragraph style without erasing the replacements (the 2nd parameter must be false).

    Example:

    Main();

    function Main() {
        var foundItem;
        var doc = app.activeDocument;

        app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;

        app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = ".+";
        app.findGrepPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = "Body text";

        var foundItems = doc.findGrep();

        for (var i = 0; i < foundItems.length; i++) {
            foundItem = foundItems[i];
            foundItem.applyParagraphStyle(doc.paragraphStyles.item("Body"), false);
        }

        app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.NOTHING;
    }

  • Export InDesign text in a text file with paragraph styles

    Hello

    is it possible to export text in InDesign in a text file with included paragraph styles?

    I want not only to include the formatting of the text that I must have still all paragraph styles applied to the text after the export.

    Thank you

    With the text tool in the ready to type text block. Choose file > export > RTF (Rich Text Format)

    For all text to export text all images must be strung. If they don't you will have to do them individually.

    If you just want a select few paragraphs then highlight and choose then export > RTF

    Which can be opened in Word with all styles of tact.

  • InDesign CS4 - Paragraph Style - Justification applying do not

    Hello

    I'm in College and Indesign is the software that we use for our projects.  The version we have is CS4.  It is the second project where I had a problem with the rationale.  I can use the justification above icons to move the text where I want to after you apply the paragraph style, but what causes the override bit + appears and which is not allowed.  My instructor says that we should use the style itself.  I am happy to do and found the area of justification in the paragraph style settings, however, any justification I specify (with the text highlighted and preview enabled), the text does not move.  I've also set it, applied, and then decided to go back to the document, just in case it was a mistake to read-only, but it doesn't always.

    I have to justify everything THEN apply the paragraph style to work around this problem?  If the option of justification in the paragraph style settings does not actually move the text-this is expected end?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    It is difficult to say without seeing what you have. Can you do a similar to this screenshot:

    This screenshot, you can see the text that is in style with display of hidden characters (Type > show hidden characters), the Editor of history (Edit > edit in story editor), the withdrawal and spacing of the Paragraph Style Options of window tab and justification at the top of the screen buttons.

  • Paragraph styles are ignored by InDesign

    I use InDesign CS4.  My changes paragraph styles are ignored by InDesign.  All the font changes are ignored and everything is "BOLD".  This just started happening.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall.

    Can someone help me?

    Looks like you've applied a style of bold text in addition to the paragraph style.

    Check the character Styles Panel. It is not rare to accidentally set a default character style by selecting with any selected text. When no text is selected, the character Style must be [none].

  • [JS InDesign CS3] Style groups, Caprice in colors! (or: how to make the styles of paragraph and character off groups style?)

    Sorry for this question (and my terrible English, incidentally), I'm a javascript noob and I know when I reached my limits.

    Well, I'm taking a set of paragraph and character style groups styles, they are placed in hundreds of InDesign documents (which cannot be regarded as a book). As much as I've tried (thanks to the invaluable help of previous messages in this forum), I was able to move a style to a group and change its position within the group, inside root-level, or between the groups. But it is not matter how I try, I don't know which move reference should I try in case I want to take each style outside the style group and place them after their original level group, folder style [Root].

    I tried:

    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var pGroups=doc.paragraphStyleGroups;

    for (i=pGroups.length-1; i>=0; i--){
         var pStylesInGroup=pGroups[i].paragraphStyles;
         for (j=pStylesInGroup.length-1; j>=0; j--){
    // Here I am, trying to move a style outside the folder that contains it, and failing miserably.
              pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.after, pGroups[i]);
         }
    }

    He did not, the script has sent an invalid parameter value in the reference field, so I can't use the folder of the group itself as reference.

    Tried (obviously false) alternatives, such as the first available style using as reference. So my second script was

    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var pStyles=doc.allParagraphStyles;
    var pGroups=doc.paragraphStyleGroups;

    for (i=pGroups.length-1; i>=0; i--){
         var pStylesInGroup=pGroups[i].paragraphStyles;
         for (j=pStylesInGroup.length-1; j>=0; j--){
    // Now I try placing the styles after the [Basic Paragraph], that is, the second paragraph style in the document style list
              pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.after, pStyles[1]);
         }
    }

    It did not work either, another invalid parameter in the reference field. Similar results with my other attempts (I even tried "[Root]" as literal with similar luck).

    So my question is: what command (or script, in case my approach is quite wrong) should I use to accomplish my goal?

    Thanks in advance to those who decide to spend more than a minute thinking about my humble worries and my apologies for some of your lines of code Ripper shamelessly for my purposes.

    Well, tried a few things and I really weird results!

    1. you can move a style within its group.

    2. you can move a style to one group "to" the other, but it will appear "inside" of this style. I got my style of test as a subdivision of [standard paragraph], using index #1. By the index 0 # InDesign ([no paragraph Style]) crashed.

    3. you can duplicate the style, but then you get a copy of the same group. Still no luck.

    4 finally! What is the parent of a paragraph style?

    Document | Request | ParagraphStyleGroup

    'Application' is easy - it's when you do a global style. So, what's the difference between 'Document' and 'paragraphStyleGroup '? Single - well, when you get finally he...

    pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.AT_END, doc);

    move the style out of the Group and at the end of the list in the document. I don't think it's possible to move directly to a specific position in the main style list - you first need to move a group, then move it around in its own list.

    Fortunately, he returns his new position as a definition once again, if necessary, you can use

    newStyle = pStylesInGroup[j].move (LocationOptions.AT_END, doc);
    newStyle.move (LocationOptions.AFTER, pStyles[1]);

    -I haven't really tried this possibility, but it should work.
