Indexing does not work

I have Windows 7 Starter Edition, running on HP Mini 210, as a function of Windows, indexing is turned on (enabled).  In the control panel of configuration, Indexing Options, said indexing is not running. "How can I change it to on? The Advanced button does not change that.

Hello

Which exact error message do you while trying to activate the Windows Search service?

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

Follow the steps provide in the article below to perform the clean boot. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Basically my question is why index does not work when applying both sides TO_CHAR conversion in where clause?

    Let's say we have a table with 1 million rows

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Create Table T (collar number);

    -The unique index on the column.

    CREATE A UNIQUE IDX_T ON T (CSA COL) INDEX.

    Insert Into Values T (I);

    End loop;

    COMMIT;

    End;

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    We have different situations using

    explain plan for select col from t where col =?;

    SELECT * FROM TABLE (DBMS_XPLAN. DISPLAY);

    Please, help me understand.

    ACCESS (Index Scan) - Oracle tries to use an index one try to access a table row that they are interested.

    FILTER (full table scan) - Oracle has no any tool to directly get to the table of ranks it is interested in, so it must pass all the lines and then filter the rows that match the main condition.

  • Vista Search & indexing does not work

    When I go to Control Panel/Indexing Options/Advanced/show Options all the locations of some files are to check, but the OS(c:) est grisée.) I had turned off at the same time & now cannot get it turned back on.

    How to make this work?

    Why indexing taking so long?

    Why can't stop indexing or turn it off for awhile (it interferes with other programs sometimes)?

    Why seek complex with a bunch of drop downs and it usually does not even get just a subfolder. I searched (using the F command) 3 letters in a title only and got a response from an area not indexed that contains NONE of the letters, and it took several minutes. @!

    Some MS answers say to use the troubleshooting Index feature, but it doesn't seem to be indexing window.

    Hello

    These two showed more problems of search for Windows 7, however, they also seem to be
    able to affect Vista as well.

    1. one thing that seems to have an impact on several is the bit REACH has been set on some files
    Index cannot be set and search for cannot be found. So the ATTRIB-a *. * bps, which means archive
    is REMOVED for the files in the folder/directory Parent (top) and those in all the subfolders/sup-
    directories.

    ------------

    2 another problem seems to be McAfee and some other antivirus programs are interfering with the
    Index or search functions. McAfee, must be uninstalled using the uninstall routine in
    Windows AND the removal of McAfee too of course no remains are left. (Possibly other antivirus
    programs are also what causes this error.) Of course, you want to move to another antivirus

  • Table, shuffle a part of a table using start and end Index does not work properly

    Hello
    I used a method to mix a part of an array, but I noticed that it does not work very well.
    When I run this method sometimes I empty array values.

    So if you try the example below and test out a few times would get you a good result but sometimes a wrong result.

    For example, when I run the present I get in my trace output:

    a, b, c, d, g, e, f (here after the g it won't)

    a, b, c, f, g, d, e (here it goes right)

    a, b, c, d, g, f, e (here I'm not)

    var myArr:Array = ['a', 'b', 'c', ', 'e', 'f', 'g'];

    function shuffle(myArray:Array,_startIndex:int_=_0,_endIndex:int_=_0):Array {}
    if(endIndex == 0) endIndex = myArray.length - 1;
    for (var i: int = endIndex; I > startIndex; i--) {}
    var randomNumber:int = Math.floor (Math.random () * endIndex) + startIndex;
    var tmp: * = myArray [i];
    myArray [i] = myArray [NombrAl];
    myArray [NombrAl] = tmp;
    }
    return myArray;
    }

    trace (shuffle (myArr, 3, 5));

    No one knows where he goes wrong and why nobody on the web discovered this problem previously, because
    When I googled on this topic, I found other methods that also sometimes fail.

    Kind regards
    Chris.

    var myArr:Array = ['a', 'b', 'c', ', 'e', 'f', 'g'];

    function shuffle(myArray:Array,_startIndex:int_=_0,_endIndex:int_=_0):Array {}
    If (endIndex == 0) {}
    endIndex = myArray.length - 1;
    }
    for (var i: int = endIndex; I > = startIndex; i--) {}
    trace (i)
    var randomNumber:int = int (Math.random () * (endIndex + startIndex-1)) + startIndex;

    var tmp: * = myArray [i];
    trace (i, randomNumber)
    myArray [i] = myArray [NombrAl];
    myArray [NombrAl] = tmp;
    }
    return myArray;
    }

    trace (shuffle (myArr, 3, 5));

    There were a few issues going on here.  The first is that you used the index end to the random number, but should be the difference between the beginning and the end.  the second is the > = start index in the loop.  give this a go.

  • The research of the embedded index does not work for the PDF file opened with Adobe Reader in a browser

    Due to the way in which we use our Document management system, if we want to search through multiple or large files stored in our DMS PDF we merge PDF together and create an embedded index. This works perfectly well, when you open the PDF file in Adobe Reader standalone. Enter a particular term can bring 100 hits (very quickly) in the Adobe Reader search results pane.

    However, if we launch the PDF with Adobe Reader in Internet Explorer (any version), enter a term to search (contained in document) only get one result, that of the file name of the document itself.

    Unfortunately most of our users will access our DMS documents with internal links.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

  • my search index does not work

    I can't get my search for windows 7 to work. I get this error that says: search query device = % 20manager class not registered. How can I fix it

    A class not registered error means usually there is corruption in the index search or the missing DLL.

    If the problem occurred, just maybe, you can use system restore to return to a time where the search index has worked properly.

    THE PROBLEM:

    Now of importance that I did to try to fix the problem, that nothing worked.
    Some facts related to the reason why the error occurs:
    1. my computer is a dual boot Vista and W7.
    2 WEI worked perfectly when I first installed W7.
    3 W7 is on B:\ drive. The Device Manager shows: System, starting, Active, dump, primary Partition
    4 when I started using W7, I noticed a lot of many duplicates of files in libraries.
    5. not knowing what was the role of the library, I have deleted many, if not all the files into it.
    6. Accordingly, I may be wrong deleted files than WEI needs to operate.
    7 there is no Winstat.exe anywhere on my computer
    8. I ran SFC and he finds errors, but running WEI always produces the same error message.
    Windows resource protection found corrupt files and to repair the.

    PA bear,

    Thanks for all the help.

    I decided to just leave things they way they are.

    Almost everything works perfectly on my computer now.

    And I learned that too much intervention can cause more problems.

    To devote more time to it is not a good use of my time or yours.

    I can't justify to devote more time to this.

    It would be preferable for you to spent time with someone who has a real problem.

    I can easily run WEI with a command prompt, it is therefore essential to set of WEI.

    Thanks again.

    Best regards

  • I can't turn on the index. ' It is said ' INDEX does NOT WORK.

    I tried help and support without success. Statement said go to SERVICES and turn on Windows SEarch. It is not at all here. I can't find Windows search in my PC

    What version of Vista are you using?  To make sure you looked in the right place, go to start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services, and search the list for Windows Search (I found it on my PC and it is launched and automatic and I am running 32-bit Vista Business SP2).

    We will start by trying to verify some of your system files:

    Go to start / programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt and click Run as administrator.

    Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  He can ask your installation disc - if yes insert and continue.  It will scan some of your system files and try to fix them.  If all goes well it will finish without error, it could not repair (if it finds any errors, you can try to interpret them using http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928228 or just post back here).

    You can also try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE this problem started first (if you have an idea, when he first started).  Here are the procedures: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  If the first attempt fails, try and point earlier or two.

    You have a genuine drive to Installation of Windows Vista?  The next troubleshooting steps may depend on if you have a copy (or can borrow one briefly to someone you know - they are not protected against copying and the version used is related to your product key).  Or did you just a disc of recovery with a recovery partition on your hard drive (which won't help us unless we need to do a clean install and that is something that we both avoid because of all the work involved and the potential loss of data).  BTW, I do a full backup of all your data in a timely and up-to-date in case a clean installation is required (or where the problem is transformed into something bigger).  I don't know how to restore all the Windows Search service on its own.

    Good luck and I hope that the suggestions above will help you with your problem.  If this isn't the case, we will have to do a repair/system upgrade to the real Windows Vista Installation disc - so try to get your hands on a copy if the procedures above do not resolve the problem. Once the sentence you say ' does not ' and then you go to paste plans that seem to show that it "works".

    What gives?

    In fact, if you look at the plans - think Oracle you have 16 k rows in the table and he'll be back k 12 rows for your select statement. In this case, Oracle is picking up the right plan - full scan 16 ranks of k is a lot less work to digitize the index lines k 12 followed by the research of rank k 12 rowid.

  • Vista indexing does not

    Instant Search does not work in outlook 2007 (SP2), when activated windows (vista Business Service Pack 1 32 bit) indexing says "indexing does not work" and only forward tab is enabled.

    Also tried outlook--> tools--> instant search--> search options--> to check the boxes in 'research' and 'indexing' after pressing 'OK', he said "a problem has been experienced. trying to change which data files to index Some of these changes may not have been saved. »

    When tried to run the Windows search (already in automatic mode) service, it says "Windows Search service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. »

    Hello RRAIK,

    Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

    Try the following steps:

    OPTION 1:

    How to disable or enable the index service

    NOTE

    This will enable or disable the Index for Vista completely. This will not affect the regular nonindexed Vista search function.

    1. open the Start Menu.

    3 right-click on the hard drive, to enable or disable the Index, and then click Properties.

    4. to disable the Index-

    (A) uncheck Index this drive to speed up the search for box.

    (B) proceed to step 6.

    5. to activate the Index-

    (A) check the index of this player for a search box.

    NOTE: Step 7 in the section ONE OPTION above should be defined activated to operate at.

    6. click on apply.

    7. Select (dot) apply the changes to the drive, subfolders, and files.

    8. click on OK.

    9. click on continue in the window of access denied.

    10. click the button ignore all error application of attributes window.

    NOTE: Vista's not any attempt to mess with the boot files. This is why you get this error and must select ignore all to skip the editing of these files.

  • Tab order does not work on the image Panel and group tags

    I write code to control the tab on several tags such as "img", "Control Panel", "LinkButton",... and pie charts. When I run my program flash, tab indexing does not work. It works on the pie chart and "link button" tags, not on 'img', ' ', tags "group". I also tried to "activate the tab" on these fields and the true chilern tab, but no help.

    on the other hand when I disable the tab on the pie chart, and a link button, yet the tab is activated. It seems no matter what I do about the tab order, it does not reflect when I run my program.

    I really appreciate if someone could help me, I'm working with the sdk flex 4.1

    In Flex, components that receive focus must implement IFocusManagerComponent.  Most of the containers are not.

  • Research of a window does not work (but only when the folder is indexed).

    As the title suggests, I can look perfectly fine and find EVERYTHING in a folder with even the most detailed search operators, but only if I index the file. I had the same problem with Windows 7 as well and I don't know how to get around this problem. I think it may have something to do with the case in question is on an external drive but I still don't understand why this is the case. Indexing is supposed to make the search faster for a specific folder, but no matter what I do, Indexing always brings Vista only returning "no matches" for each search query. If I was of the same type in one letter, he found nothing.

    Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • The index of the table of contents, search, does not work after hosting the files published in HTML5 Multiscreen

    I generated and publish files for html5 multiscreen. The default screen layout is Desktop_layout. When I go to index.htm directly from the published location, functions and details work perfectly. However, once I host the files published in IIS, type the URL in Google Chrome, the screen layout is all messed. Table of contents, Index, glossary, and the search function does not work. Please help/suggest/guide.

    Maybe this related to IIS? I host locally on IIS (8.0 8.1 Windows Pro) and Apache without any problems. But IIS can give wrong if the folder security options are not set correctly, then check that the IIS user owns the rights to complete reading on all directories and files.
