Inserting text in a PDF file

Hi all!

I am quite new to InDesign, but I am delighted to see such a vibrant community on the official forums. I get along very well with her, absolutely great program, I can be in love...

But, I hit something of a problem. I do a brouchre digital sales, and 99% of the text will remain the same, but there are a few sections where text needs to be changed by the sales guys in our offices (customer name, customer requirements and costing)

Acrobat Pro is too expensive for these simple changes, and tried to insert form fields as a workaround but discovered that you can't change the font of the day!

I use InDesign CS6. Is there anything I can do for these small editable sections? This document will be published by end users so needless to say, it must be simple!

Otherwise is it possible that the text can be inserted dynamically? For example, sales guys insert the text and costs in a web form and the PDF file is spat at the other end?

I know PDF is finalized files, but I hope that there is adequate workaround! Anything to get them to stop using Microsoft Word!

You are not limited to the time in PDF forms in Acrobat. If you control a click on the text box, you can change the properties. I think that there is a limit for the fonts that you can use in a text box and the person using the form must have the font on their system, so it is best to choose a commune.

You will need to find a forum for MS Word, since it is the software you are trying to manipulate in the present.  If you think that the treatment/creation of the PDF file plays a role, then you should ask in the forum for the software that you use to create the PDF file.

If there is text to be copied (in other words, if the pdf file is not a scanned image of the text), by default, you should see a pointer that will change when you hover over the text to an ibeam.

  • Layout in Arabic, Chinese and Russian. Export text from a PDF file

I am exhibitor of long documents in Arabic, Chinese and Russian. The text was provided in PDF format when I copy and paste this in Indesign, it happens like question marks, boxes and other characters having nothing to do with the text I'm trying to layout.  I put the cast on the Arabic Myriad and Arabic dictionary still nothing that resembles Arabic or any other language. Same thing with the Chinese and Russian. Any suggestions on how to get the text from the PDF file where is the language. Appreciate help with this.  Thank you.

    Thanks for the caption, Ellis

Thus, KK: you're in for a world of pain. The intials "WP" at the beginning of these policies means that the text is out of WordPerfect. Make presentations multilingual in WP, it was annoying, but possible. It was developed in the pre-Unicode world where every single method of complex script layout was a dirty hack. If you like dirty nerdy details, I can tell you how it worked, but that it is sufficient to say that attempt to harvest the non-latine-script text of: WP and it reuse for use in InDesign is just pure pain. WordPerfect-specific code pages were never really supported anywhere outside WP.

That being said, I have a script around laying somewhere for the conversion of the WP-Cyrillic in Unicode. (In fact, I think it does Windows CP 1251, but that works as well.) But this is only one of the forty-five languages? And the Chinese has been pixelated? And PDF files were originally generated by Distiller 3? If you have no choice, it is time to leave. If you do not have the choice, I really hope that you charge hourly. My experience in this area (very large) is that it will cost three to five times more to extract the text as it would for a professional translation generate a new key of the text, and and then to have a second professional translation review text rekeyed looking for typos.

Russian OCR is darn good these days, but Chinese OCR is random. I've never seen good Arabic OCR - doesn't mean it's not out there, but I couldn't help you find it.  But the chances that all 45 languages available reliable OCR, and the result of said OCRing will not have to be reviewed by someone who knows the language, are virtually nil.

I'm trying to highlight objects and text in a pdf file converted from a cadd drawing but can't do either?

It may be that the PDF file is simply a graph. The highlight tool works on the text, not graphics. You may need to use the marker or another graphic tool.

  • Need to change the text in the pdf file created in Illustrator CS6

I need someone else to be able to change the text in a pdf file I created from Illustrator. They have full acrobat should be able to change it. I tried myself to test before you send it, but it does not work. The original file has been created in Illustrator CS6 and saved in pdf format (text not created contours). I opened the file in acrobat and try it saved as file extended to be able to change the text but not luck. You will be able to highlight the existing text and replace it. I tried to change the text of the tool, but rather only a selection box around each line of text, it puts a selection box around the text. I can highlight the text and delete it, but I am unable to change it. Each individual text line should be editable. Is there something I need to do differently in Illustrator so it can work correctly in Acrobat?

If she help him file is a calendar and they need be able to change the dates and events that are already there.

This really isn't an appropriate use of Acrobat. You should all use the same editing tool (i.e. Illustrator).

Extension of files reduced the amount of editing Acrobat can do, it does not increase it.

The editing of text in Illustrator tool would be to edit the text Document. There is no guarantee that it will divide nicely in lines, it is trying to help by making the text of paragraph.

In theory, you can use a form for this (fill in the blank for dates) but really, you should use the same tool. Not necessarily Illustrator, more Excel or specialist software calendar.

  • Is it possible to add text to a PDF file?

    Hello

I need to generate nice PDF contacts boards than I do in the bridge.

But once the hundreds of images are automatically generated in PDF format,

I need to add some text.

I could of course, put these images manually in Indesign and easily type text,

but would be just as saving time, if I could quickly create the full pdf of image

and then add text to the pdf...

Is it possible with acrobat for it?

Or y at - it a 3rd party software plugin which allows you to enter a paragraph of text in a pdf file?

    Please notify

    Thank you

You can use the typewriter tool, and then type your paragraph wherever you want, but it won't move the images from the road. It is the same for the tool text box. I think that you work for ID.

  • Insert text in a jpg file space? How to insert text into a picture file?

How to insert text in a space from a jpg file?

If you are wanting to use the text of the flattened jpg file, you will need to make a selection of the text. Without seeing it, I guess that using the wand would work to select. Then you can press cmd/ctrl-J to put it on its own layer, and either move it or move it to a new file. Your best option would be to find the font and use the editable text. Save as a jpg destroyed the ability to edit the text, then save it as a PSD and then save for web to your jpg.

  • Automatically rasterize all vector drawings (less the texts) in the PDF file

    Hello

I looked at the Adobe Acrobat documentation and also within the frequently asked questions of this forum for this specific information was not found. If I missed something, please tell me

I have a PDF file containing a lot of vector drawing made in Illustrator. The PDF file generated from Adobe InDesign. If the PDF file is a mixture of text and vector drawings.

I want to send this PDF document on the web, but for some legal proposed, these vector drawings should all be rasterized. For sure, I can open each. Original document to HAVE, rasterize the content, then reissue the InDesign document (so the exported PDF file's text and all raster images).

But, as I refer to 100 pages PDF, containing, at a minimum, 150 drawings vector, it takes a lot of time to open each work in Illustrator and manually generating a rasterized copy to use in the final PDF file.

So the question is: is it possible (in Acrobat or any plug, approx...) to open a PDF document, then automatically rasterize any vector drawings (less the texts) in a specific resolution? For example, rasterize all at 150 pixels per inch.

With the help of Acrobat DC under Windows OS 8.1.

    Thank you very much

    Gustavo.

You do not miss anything, there is no Acrobat tool for this.

  • Can I change the text of a PDF file?

    Hello.

I have a file in which I placed (as in file > place) a PDF file.

I want to change the text of the PDF - or less to copy its text must be filed in a regular InDesign text frame.

    Is this feasible?

    Thank you very much

InDesign see the PDF in the form of a uneducable chart so that you can not change it in InDesign.

You can open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro and use the selection to copy the text. You can also convert text in Acrobat format to a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) that could be included in InDesign.
