Insertion of overline combining Unicode character

I use Adobe Illustrator CS4 for Windows and I need to place a bar on a number, such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overline.  I tried using the information in the article and typing Alt + 0175, but it does not add any character.  Is it possible to use the character to Unicode (U + 0305) "combining overline" in Illustrator? Is or if it does not exist, possible to produce something similar?

Thank you.

I'm not too good at it, but you can use the Panel glyphs from the Type menu to insert the character, Unicode U + 0305 a font supports. Lucida Grande for one.

  • Display garbage instead of Unicode character

    Hello

    IAM, go search for the content web service & after treatment of response when I view the content on-screen RichTextField as the unicode character ($, #, has ^ etc.) are displayed in the form of waste...

    But to my surprise when I try to show these characters in the field of rich text as hardcoded (by storing it in a string variable) without fetching web service, they are presented as usual...

    Anyone has an idea why this is happening...?

    Will I have to do something while recovering from web service so that unicode characters are not displayed as garbage...?

    Any kind of help would be appreciated...

    Thanks in advance...

    No problem, I was just letting you know that my explanation would be not that great because I can never get my head round it...

    In any case, assuming that you develop for 4.2 or later, replace this (which is in any way questionable code):

    data Byte [] = new byte [in.available ()];
    int len = 0;
    int size = 0;
    Gross StringBuffer = new StringBuffer();
    While (-1! = (len = in.read (data)))
    {
    RAW. Append (new String (data, 0, len));
    size += len;
    }
    String content = raw.toString ();

    with this, much easier to read the code:

    Byte [] IOUtilities.streamToBytes = data (en);
    The contents of the string;
    try {}
    content = new String (given, "UTF - 8");
    } catch (Exception e) {}

    never happen, UTF - 8 is supported

    }

  • question links to Unicode character compatibility

    Ask for help on the issue of compatibility with Oracle 11 G R2 32 Bit DB Unicode character.

    Number description: I created a profile in my application and named with Unicode characters(German\Russian\Latvian... alphabets), at the opening of the profile his throw a error message "profile of Bill is not found in the database."

    During the installation of Oracle database, I chose the Unicode UTF-8 characters in data set. According to our guide to applications, it considers that the database characterset and not the character set.

    Let me know if I have to make a few additional parameters with respect to the parameters of this globalization.

    Thank you
    Brij

    I don't know what made the request, so I don't know also the role of profile and what is not found - just - in the database. At least 'a profile of Bill' is not a native Oracle object.
    Is it not possible to analyse the problem of enforcement.

    On the database side character set UTF8 (although I prefer the 'new' characterset AL32UTF8) is appropriate in a globalized environment. What to do in the interaction between the application and the database - which depends strongly on the application itself.

  • Unicode character on the command line

    I have a folder that contains a non-ASCII character, "registered sign" (®), which can be typed in a Terminal by using the-r option.

    It is U + 00AE, and as an 8-bit character, it is 174 decimal. I want to be able to enter this character on the command line without

    typing Option, because I have to build a Terminal command using an application that

    is not respectful of Unicode. So option-r helps me create a string that contains this character.

    For example, in the Terminal, I made a folder in ~ with as its name in full (I typed a r while pressing the option key):

    > mkdir ~ /.

    I can list help

    > ls ~ /.

    but I have to be able to do so * without using any modifier key * (as option).

    I thought I could use something like (after cd ~)

    > ls \302\256

    or

    > ls \u00AE

    or

    > ls \xc2\xae

    but I could not do the shell to interpret what I type as registered r symbol. Everything what I enter is interpreted

    literally as individual characters rather that, for example, the \xC2 is considered a single character. I also tried different combinations

    quotes as double the backslash, but I continue get "No such file or directory".

    How can I represent this character on the command line without modifier keys? I'm on El Capitan, OS X 10.11.2, running bash 3.2.

    Have you tried zsh instead of bash?

    I think bash supports \u starting only 4.2

  • Question about the game database and the UNICODE character

    Hello

    I have to configure a database for an IBM product where is a requirement:
    "Databases must be created using the UNICODE database and National characters as UTF8 games, AL32UTF8 or AL16UTF16 or."

    My current database character is: WE8MSWIN1252. Change the current database character set is not an option, so I have to create a new db for this requirement.

    My question is:
    (1) how to ensure that "databases must be created using the UNICODE database"?

    (2) to take care of character, I'll use in the database creation script:

    "
    create the db1 database...
    ..
    CHARACTER SET US7ASCII
    NATIONAL CHARACTER SET AL16UTF16
    .."
    who will take care of him?

    create the db1 database...
    ..
    UTF8 CHARACTER
    NATIONAL CHARACTER SET AL16UTF16

  • read the unicode character value

    Hi all

    I'm reading a file that is written in albanin. So of course, I've implemented a way to read in unicode and then store then in an Arraylist and print again return.

    Here is the code I tried:

    FileInputStream
    Dim str As String = null;
    Try
    {
    in = new FileInputStream ("C:\\Users\\Administrator\\Desktop\\d1.txt");
    InputStreamReader inputStreamReader = new InputStreamReader (in);
    BufferedReader bufferedReader = new BufferedReader (inputStreamReader);

    Str = bufferedReader.readLine ();
    }
    catch (System.Exception e)
    {
    e.printStackTrace ();
    }

    StringBuffer ostr = new StringBuffer();

    for (int i = 0; i < str.length (); i ++)
    {

    OSTR. Append ("\\u");
    Hex String = Integer.toHexString (str.charAt (i) & 0xFFFF); Get a hex value of Arctic char.

    for (int j = 0; j < 4 - hex.length (); j ++) / / Prepend zeros because unicode requires 4 numbers
    OSTR. Append ("0");
    OSTR. Append (hex.toLowerCase ()); format of the unicode standard.

    }

    System.out.println (new String (ostr));

    Although the unicode letter 'Ë' is 00cb, program gives the value "\ufffd" but for other normal characters, it displays the correct values (for English characters)

    How can I solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance...

    first of all, check your encoding of the file.

    Can someone tell me how to fix this error. The site and this page have been works fine, then all of a sudden the page stopped working. I got a gridview and a sqldatasource on the page, with master content when the error occurred. If I remove the data source in the GridView page will work. I also deleted the page created a new page called it is something else and when I do this topic (datasource and gridview link) error is returned.

    I searched the Internet for a soloution to no avail. I can't use PC cleaner pro.  The site is on a stand-alone system using MS XP, sql server 2008 express Edition and Visual Studio, visual WebDeveloper. All the code is written in VB.

    The rest of the site works very well. But I can't create new pages or it seems to make new links.

  • Failed to insert column break

    I'm trying to insert a column break in my story, but it comes out like a regular paragraph break. How can I do this?

    story.insertionPoints [-1] .silence = SpecialCharacters.columnBreak;

    It is InDesign CS4 on Mac.

    At least I can explain that.

    "Content" is not really an existing property of the main subject matter of the text. He behaves like a string of regular text in Javascript (and probably in other languages), but that does not mean it is a simple string. I think that reading of and writing for she took a position low enough level in the tree of DOM objects are translated internally to mess with the 'real' text object, so it is completely transparent to the programmer.

    But with one notable exception. JavaScript strings are fully compatible Unicode, you can read and write any Unicode character in the string. However, InDesign has need more than simple Unicode characters. I think that most of its special spaces is translated into the correct codes, but ID has many, many more things that does not exist in UC: markers special such as variables and the page number, spaces of hunting thingies and, of course, all its different types of returns: frame breaks, column and page.

    So how can treat you these eccentric codes in a Javascript string? You can not. Memorization of a code of SpecialCharacter 'in' a text.contents must be another kind of 'hack' internal (in a positive way that is pure). You can see for yourself if you stuff it in your column and then break try to read - not as a single character (because translation works in two ways; you would simply retrieve a value of SpecialCharacters.columnBreak), but by a substring, for example. You will see that InDesign hands you back a normal return.

  • Issue of special character in PhoneCall getDisplayPhoneNumber() OS 4.6.1.199 blackBerry Smartphones

    Hi all

    I had a problem with Blackberry 8900 Simulator and device with OS v4.6.1.199. The problem is with the phone API.

    I was writing a logical management of outgoing calls, so I used PhoneListener and simply manipulated the method callInitiated() as follows.

    public void callInitiated(int callid) {        PhoneCall call = Phone.getCall(callid);        String calledNumber = call.getDisplayPhoneNumber();        if (calledNumber != null && calledNumber.trim().length() > 0) {            if("15245".equals(calledNumber){                //--do something--            }else if("15246".equals(calledNumber){                //--do something--            }        }}

    The strange thing is that it worked normally on the 4.2 OS, but when tried it on OS 4.6 and higher, the two conditions has no match, even though the number was exactly the same (15245 or 15246). Later when I studied it, I found the strange thing. The calledNumber was to have a character special a.k.a WHAT BRAND of LEFT RIGHT in the Unicode character set. (for more information: read this)

    When printing on the console using System.out.println (), it prints '?' and is of type int 8206. So I had to put a logic peculiar to this particular problem and solved.

    I hope that this help someone having the same problem. Although I write here to see if I'm right and it's a problem known with Blackberry OS 4.6.1.199 or not.

    Kind regards

    Sameer.

    Yes, there was a very simple solution, just observe that the first character in the phone display is something like '? So, if you try to choose this character and convert it to int, you will get 8206.

    The solution is so just take the charAt() (0).
    Compare with 8206 and if necessary remove the tank from the phone no chain. Then use the rest of the string that will be your phone original poster No.

    Kind regards
    Sameer.

  • How to convert decimal unicode(UTF-32)?

    refer to this example: http://www.sqlsnippets.com/en/topic-13438.html

    Unicode: SLICE OF PIZZA (plan 1)

    Decimal value: 127829

    Hex(UTF-32): 1F355

    Hex(UTF-16): \D83C\DF55

    Now, I can use unistr ('\D83C\DF55') for the unicode character. But my table keep the decimal value "127829". So, how I can use this value to get the unicode character?

    Thank you.

    My problem is solved.

    I found a decimal conversion algorithm in the UTF-16 surrogate pairs and use the unistr() function to get the unicode character.

  • Type a nonbreaking space in a variable with another character

    I'm trying to type a Unicode character and a non-breaking space in a variable. The definition is \space\u00d7\space.

    On the page, the variable text appears in the form:

    pacexpace

    where 'x' is the Unicode character.

    Other types of spaces in the variable work very well. However, '\space' does not work with non-Unicode characters in a variable.

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards

    Catherine

    Re:... "\space" does not...

    Try to use '-"(barre oblique inverse avec l'espace ordinaire)."»

    Where did you learn "\space?

    I frankly expect it to be treated as '\s' and all that follows as plain text.
