Insiron 17R SE 7720 taken helmet

The headphone jack of my Inspiron 17R 7720 SE does not work - I get that sound from one channel (the headset will work with other devices).  Does anyone know if can be replaced without having to install a new MB?

The jack's part of the motherboard - a shop that can do the welding may be able to replace just the Jack, but otherwise the Board needs to be replaced.

The other alternative is to use a sound external USB box.

    Hello world

A week ago I did some updates on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 including Bios Update to the version of the A11. Unfortunately, after this update I realized that the nVidia Geforce GT 650 M graphics card had disappeared from my system.

I read other posts and people who have experienced this problem suggested the re-installation of the bios would solve the problem, but in my case, it didn't.

Also, I installed the new version BIOS A12 and A13 versions but non of these have solved this problem.

Also reinstalled windows do not either fix as suggested by others in other posts.

I also ran the diagnostics on the computer from the bios and card does not appear there either, like the nVidia Geforce GT 650 M graphics card has not been installed on the system.

Finally I run a version of Ubuntu on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 and run a system check and or the card is detected, just the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is detected under windows or linux.

Please someone Dell help us solve this problem, because it certainly is a BIOS PROBLEM.

If you're among the unlucky ones like me this saw has disappeared from the map of nVidia Geforce GT 650 M graphics card in your system, please share your experience with me.

A disk fails at some point -, or Windows will become corrupt.  The question is not about whether you will need media recovery, but when - and having on hand means that you can fix it immediately instead of waiting days for Dell to ship the media.

  • 17R SE 7720 Windows 8 n2230 fall of wireless signal

My new computer was delivered on December 21, 2012.  Imagine my surprise that I can't connect to my wireless connection unless I'm at least 10 feet off the router to AT and T Wireless.  There are 3 computers floor 1 upward and 30 feet away who can connect, so I know that it is not that the signal is not strong enough.  Please help me solve this problem, so I don't have to send the computer back.  My Inspiron 9300 I've had since 2005 can connect and I use it now.  Here are my specific features.

    17R SE 7720

    Windows 8

    1 T hard drive

    8 G RAM

    32 SATA drive

    Inter N-2230

At & T internet wireless router.

The new computer will hook to the top when extremely close to the router but it loses the signal sometimes although I am only 10 feet away.

    All,

A Dell technician arrived yesterday and replaced the wireless card. The wire that goes to the card using a screw for the connection and the screw was loose.   They mentioned that the reason for the connection of intemittent was by applying slight pressure to the bottom of the laptop the wire would enough of a connection to operate. However, it probably wasn't the card at all.

After replacement of the card, I could always connect not.  I mentioned that I had performed many configuration changes that had been proposed before to call Dell technical support and had observed the changes made by the help desk and had mentally noted they had disabled something that had never been mentioned in any of the communications on this forum.

The technology suggested we allow him and see what happens.  We have activated and in use.  In fact, he has a better connection that my old computer - go figure, the old computer is an Inspiron 9300 2005 vintage.  The problem has been resolved.

    Thanks for all help

  • Inspiron 17R SE 7720 wake from its slumber when the lid is closed through the usb keyboard/mouse

So I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 which has all of the latest drivers with BIOS A11 (Win 7 Ultimate x 64)...  I have all the settings properly configured for sleep power (no hibernation), however no matter what I try, I can't get the laptop to wake up when the lid is closed through USB keyboard.

I use a combo of MK560 Wave from Logitech (unifying receiver) - keyboard and mouse have the wake-up option enabled in the settings of their material.  I also wake up from USB enabled in the BIOS.

What is interesting is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can do/wake it from Logitech devices.  With the lid closed, I can only do sleep - the only way to wake up, he is to open the cover and press the power button.

Anyone know a solution to this?

    Cliffs Notes:

Cover open: CAN sleep/wake from USB keyboard/mouse

Cover closed: can sleep ONLY - don't wake up if I open the Start button / cover & press

It seems that a new A13 BIOS was released on 18 March, all it says in the section '' correction '' is to "maintain the release." Download it now and see if it fixed more on the question of the USB.

  • Ubuntu linux driver installation for Nvidia 950 M on Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720

    Hello

I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Ubuntu version because I like Ubuntu linux more than Windows.

I can't find the linux drivers that will allow my Nvidia GT 950 M graphics so, basically, the card useless and no power management.
There is absolutely nothing for Ubuntu Linux on your drivers page.

I have updated to the latest BIOS A03.

The laptop's Ubuntu Logo sticker on it next to the Intel i7 so I thought it is totally compatible.

    Please advise,

    Thank you

    Andrei

Optimus system and at the present time, it is not properly supported under Linux, there is work in progress for him, but for a workaround, see Bumblebee project: wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee

Description a little longer: you have two graphics - integrated (Intel) and discreet (Nvidia). Optimus systems are designed with the intention to use the GPU integrated tasks that requires no graphic heavy treatment (most of the day-to-day activities) and the use of the discrete GPU for applications requiring more powerful GPU. Integrated card is less eager for power and voltage GPU discreet when not in service allows cooler use.

Normally you use integrated card and there is no way to use the card nvidia directly if the BIOS does not switch to it. Help Optimus allows to use the Nvidia card for rendering and power down to save power when not in use. It has not been official for Optimus of Nvidia Linux support. Bumblebee is a community created project attempting to address the issue, but it is really only a workaround until the solution has been created. FIRST is such a solution, but at present it is still experimental and is not in any version of Ubuntu, more it is officially supported only in the open drivers source (new), Nvidia has not yet validated supporting in their binary driver.

I agree that Dell support for bids Linux pages are sorely lacking, in fact I was not able to locate a page describing their Linux pre-installs. Ubuntu certification pages are not really informative on Dell changes and upgrade policy.

    Hello

On the page of the product related to my Inspiron 17R laptop SE (7720, mid-2012) there is information that "Dell has tested this product to confirm that it can be upgraded to Windows 10.

  • Reference Dell Lattitude E7240 taken helmet

    Hello

My work just gave me a Dell Lattitude E7240, which has a 3.5 mm "headphone" which I understand means it's a headphone and microphone jack combined - is this mean it works the same as the headphone jack on a mobile device? can I use the same type of helmet? If yes how to configure it? I tried but seem not to be able to get a sound.

    develop, when I plugged in my headphones, I have a pop-up asking me what kind of device I was using (headphone/speaker output / headphones and some skull candy options) so I chose "helmet";

When I check my sound settings, I see the display bar entry against the mic (Jack Mic) and when I test the sound I can see the bar moving against Realtek High Definition audio green but can't hear anything in the headset, I didn't cut off either in Audio Dell or green Windows.

advice or tips on what type of headphones that I can use and how to configure it would welcome

    Hello, sorry for the delay.

The input jack audio combo uses a helmet with a plug from SOCKET. There could be a problem with the Realtek audio driver. To check that, switch to the native Windows audio driver and connect the headset. With the native driver microphone probably won't work but the helmet definitely should, so if they aren't then there is probably a hardware problem. In this case try other headphones or headsets and if nothing works still contact tech support for a repair if still under warranty.

    To switch the drivers:

    1. open Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the search box).
    2. develop the 'audio controllers, video & game' and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
3 Select this option to "Update driver software".
    4. click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
    5. click on "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
    6. put the "Show compatible hardware" check box if not already checked.
    7. in the list of devices, click on 'High Definition Audio"(native driver).
    8. click on "next".
    9. in the update driver warning box, click 'Yes' (the driver).
10 restart the portable computer if you are prompted. If not invited, so no need to restart.
[To return to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 1-6.]

  • How can I uninstall windows 8 and install windows 7 on an Inspiron 17R SE 7720

I bought my Inspiron 17R SE with Windows 8 installed in December 2012. I tried my best to become familiar with Windows 8, but most of the time I do love. I tried to use the classic interface so it looked like Windows 7 but I still don't like it.  It seems to me that Windows 8 be not really suitable for the use of the laptop.

I want to uninstall Windows 8 and install my own copy of Windows 7 Pro, but I do not know if it will install on a laptop at the origin of installation for Windows 8.  I asked Technical Support on this issue, but I was told that Dell would not support this so they couldn't help me.

Can anyone here help me with detailed instructions on how to achieve what I want... I read that the needs of settings in the Bios to be changed before I start but do not know what to do.

    Thank you

  • Inspiron 17R SE (7720) upgrade screen resolution?

    Hello
I have a 'special edition of the Inspiron 17R"(serial number: DCC2DT1) and I used it for about 2 and a half years.
Not once in that time has stopped working, I'm very happy with it and I would update some components and I hope to continue to use it for a few years.

    I am looking to change/update the screen 1600 x 900 on a Full HD 1920 x 1080 display.
My main question here is, if this is possible and will not be a problem, and if I could use first put the other components of the laptop?

I would also like to upgrade the HDD for an SSD and a day later the Intel i7 Intel i5 processor. Is this what I need to know before I Exchange/upgrade components?

    Thanks for reading.

To upgrade the display panel, you must also replace the harness of the display - one that comes with the lower panel of the resolution will not work with the FHD display.

SSD upgrade will not be a problem

Updates are possible with this model (it is the last of Intel Mobile processors, which is sold in the form of half-bridge, removable) - you will need an Ivy Bridge CPU.  Also check your power adapter - 90 w does not have an i7.  You need a minimum of 130 W power adapter to run an i7 CPU.

  • 2 hard drives in Inspiron 17R SE 7720

Hey guys, I would like to add another (an a ssd) HARD disk to my Inspiron.
I did some reading on the support forums and managed to pick this up:
It IS possible to add another hard drive, however, I need the brackets and screws which must be purchased from Dell, if I didn't order my computer with 2 slots for HDDs in first (I think).
So, since things are clear enough to me, I have some questions:

#1-Comment can I check if my other slot these screws or whatever it is that necessary if I can install another hard drive it?
#2-si it is not, where can I buy them?
I searched the Dell store and all that I could find about SSD in Inspiron 7720 was a $ 600 (!) 256 GB one, which is much too expensive for my budget, especially since I was already 256 GB can I install it, I don't know if I have the necessary parts.

And the last - in one of the posts I read someone said the msata Crucial M4 is "certified" to work with Dell 7720, doesn't mean it is "certified" to work with the laptop only with the these media, or does it is cleaner and it can work without them?

Thank you very much for your time!
    ZIV.

OOPS! Looks like I got my search links.

Anyway, Yes, this looks like the part that I found so it should work.

  • Update iphone 6s at ios10, taken helmet collapsed work

    Hello

I use iphone 6 s 64 GB of 5 months, recently I updated to ios10. After updating, my headphone jack is not working properly, my apple headphones work perfectly (checked with other devices), or even phone detects the headset, but they do not work. If I restart it will work for a while, and again the same question.

I even cleaned the headphone dust. I don't think it is the problem of making, maybe that's the problem with the upgrade to ios10 or heaps of devices are facing this problem with this update. Any solution for this?

Have you ever tried the General troubleshooting steps?

1 force restart the phone now sleep and home for 10 seconds, button until the Apple logo comes back again. You won't lose data.

    2. in case that does not work, set back to factory settings, without using the last backup. Test the headphones. If they work, restore the backup.

Use iTunes to restore your device to factory settings - Support Apple iOS

    3. If the factory reset does not help, get the phone checked by Apple:

    Launch a service request

Find an Apple authorized service provider

Make an appointment at the Apple Store

  • Satellite R830 - replacement taken helmet

    Hello

Ive had an accident that involved the laptop falls on the ground with the headphone jack plugged in. the rest of the laptop seems ok, but put a plug in the socket does not prevent the speakers works and audio coming out it sounds ringing; Looks like the stereo is cancelling which means that something has shorted out.

not sure I want to open up the laptop immediately; but it seems that catches jack can be replaced. I think that its still under warranty, but the accident was my fault.

any thoughts? where can I get spare parts for?

    Thank you very much
    James

    Hi James

What you can do is to use Google and search if you can find replacement parts but I'm pretty sure it can be quite complicated. Also, the repair is not so easy. You want to do it alone?
I mean the dismantling procedure is also quite difficult and must / should be done by authorized personnel only. Small error can ends with coins in plastic broken and different media.

In my opinion you should not do these things. Buy the small Audio USB w/Mic Jack adapter and the problem is solved.

  • Satellite P200 - out taken helmet is broken

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P200 and I have earlier, broke the headphones socket. Headphones have been connected into the socket, then I got up from my chair and I stepped on the cable and it bends the inside of the sleeve and now he drops everything and will not work.

He s my brother's computer so I need to know how I can still be able to plug in my headphones on the computer, now that the headphone jack is broken. I tried in the control panel to use the line-in input, as the headphone jack, but I can't or don't know how to change it so that it generates the audio computers.
So, how can I do this? Do I need a driver Realtek or something?
    Help!

I need to configure/change the line-in Jack line output or the headphone output, like the headphone jack is broken/bent and habit of work/no sound.

    Please how do I do?

    Hello

    > It s my computer s brother so I need to know how I can still be able to plug my headphones in the > computer now that the headphone jack is broken. > So how do I do? Do I need a driver Realtek or something?

Unfortunately, but this is not possible, I mean the audio-in receives the signals and the socket for headphones (audio output) sends audio signals.
You will not be able to send an audio signal using the audio port - online!

Maybe you can use some sort of USB headset IE: headset Logitech ClearChat Pro USB

  • Taken helmet Mac Mini internal hum but works fine

My Mac Mini made headphones humming internal but works very well. The hum is not constant. When I boot it is quiet so if I play a sound in ANY format or any program that there is a strong buzz that starts and the kind of "" did ramp up the tone. If I stop then the sound of the source of the hum lasts almost exactly: 30secs and then all stops. Again, it is only through the headphone jack, the Interior is fine and works as usual.

I had plugged in a new audio line just before it happened... I wonder about a failure/problem of grounding. I have also used an IO just before Scarlett and the audio output. It is no longer connected.

I have "waved it a little" cleaned, tried headphones and speakers, disconnect the power source and replaced by another source and of course turned on again with and without the connected headphones.

It is a Mac Mini from 2012.

    Thanks for any help.

Could be a ground loop in your power connections. Try unplugging all unnecessary devices in power and to change the socket where the Mac is connected
