Inspiron 4100 compatibility with SSD

Hello

I wonder if the disc KingSpec PATA IDE (44Pin) 2.5 64 GB MLC SSD KSD - PA25.6 - 064MS is compatible with the Dell Inspiron 4100. Runing Windows XP.

Thank you

You will need to check with the manufacturer.  It will connect physically - but with XP, a TRIM utility is necessary for bone (the BONE will be thrash the reader into oblivion in a short time without it), so don't forget that they provide one for XP.

Here are a few questions and I hope that some of you could give advice:

    1. the list of SSD compatibility?

Replacement hard drive is on Page 51. The good news is Yes, you can install the Samsung 840 Evo. It is the one I would recommend actually. There is no list because fundamentally, the laptop is compatible with any 2.5 inches wide 7 or 9.5 mm thick SSD or HDD.

The bad news is to replace the average hard drive almost complete disassembly of the laptop. Access to the bottom door exposes that RAM, no hard drive. And Yes, if you're wrong in the process that HP will stand behind the warranty.

  • (Redirected) Cannot boot from the HARD drive on dell n5010 with SSD and HARD drive installed

I have my old dell n5010 (15R Inspiron) with SSD (Samsung EVO 840 120 G) installed on the main drive Bay and the HDD (Samsung HJJ 500 G) on the optical drive Bay.

It is a typical way to add an SSD on such an old laptop (bought from dell.com.cn in 2011).

My Windows 10 operating system has been installed on the SSD using Samsung Data Migration software, so the previous C drive was pointless. So I formatted and installed an operating system Ubuntu 14.04 on it, hoping the grub OSs double beginning located on the HARD disk.

However, I find no the Dell bios boot option to boot from the HARD drive installed in my optical drive Bay. All the choices are 'Hard Drive', 'Network' and 'Diagnostic '.

But I was definitely sure that my bios program has detected the SSD and HDD with information on the main menu of the bios.

And the LED on the optical drive Bay was immediately once I pressed the Start button on my laptop.

As a general rule, all things were right except for options of the bios boot.

Is there a way I can boot from HDD (with installed Ubuntu) while remaining has my SSD on the main drive Bay? I don't want to swap their positions, because the SSD is super fast on the main drive Bay.

I have alse won't migrate 10 Windows to the HARD drive and reinstall Ubuntu on the SSD, because I'd like my windows be loaded quickly.

Someone at - it the same problem with me?

    Any suggestion is appreciated!

  • Discoloration spots on the monitor of Inspiron 4100

I just took an Inspiron 4100 with 128 MB of RAM, 16 MB video card ATI.  He appears to have been very little used.  I wanted to strip down to the minimum because there very little RAM right now so I tried to reformat and reinstall Windows XP Pro.  It came with the original OEM and COA disc.  The disc has never been opened.  I also updated the BIOS to A13.

At some point, something must have gone wrong, and I can't understand how to fix.  When the "Welcome" screen is in place there is a large pink ring on blue background.  When I log on the screen background (desktop Windows XP background with clouds and the green hill) has some pink spots scattered across the clouds.  The best I can describe it is it is it looks like the video is not done its display and the rose appears where another color should be.

He did not have this problem until I started with the new facility.  In fact, all started during one of the updates later I was doing and began to show all the time I was doing a few optional upgrades, KB925876 Remote Desktop Connection Terminal Services Client 6.0 and KB920342 update for Windows XP.  I don't think that he had nothing to do with updates, but it's strange how it happened for them.  I tried to reformat and reinstall, but the problem continues.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Updated by Satellite Pro L450 with SSD

Any advice on installing a SSD 128 GB in place and place of the hard drive, use this for the operating system (Windows 7) and put the old HDD in the optical drive slot to serve as storage.

Is this easy to do on this model, and a new facility would be wiser than cloning?

There is no files on the drive apart from the operating system that must be preserved - all documents etc. are on googledrive, dropbox and onedrive.

Adjustments will have to be made when you perform a new installation to keep the recovery on D files?

Earlier, I created a system restore disk - does that include Windows 7, or would I need to download it and get the license number.

Is it fairly easy to connect and use the USB "System Restore" to re - load Windows?

    Thanks for all the answers

It s a good idea to replace the HARD drive with SSD drive.
You will definitely get a boost huge performance.
I did these updates in the past, and my laptop runs a lot faster.

But the question is whether the HARD drive would be recognized by BIOS placed in ODD Bay.

To be honest I n don't know if this will be possible since the laptop does not support the special feature of selection-Bay. In the past, some other laptops Toshiba Tecra and Portege series supported these updates (HARD drive in the Bay of WEIRD) but I'm not very well on laptops Satellite m.

Of course, you can try these updates, but in the worst cases the HARD drive will not be recognized by the BIOS if you put in the ODD Bay

  • Portege R830 - model with SSD or HARD drive?

    Hello!

I am considering buying a Portege R830. I've yet to decide between the Portégé R830-10R (model with HARD drive) and the Portégé R830 - 10 p (model with a 256 GB SSD). To do this, I would like to know:

-What is the SSD model assembled in the Portégé R830?
-It uses a standard SATA connection or an owner like the previous Portégé R700 SSD?
-Have someone replaced the original HDD to the Portégé R830 by a whole new SATA 3 SSD? Wich one? It works fine?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi MadVet,

The SSD of Portege R830 - 10 p is a model of Toshiba 2.5 so it does not work in Portege R830. In addition due to the 2.5 form factor it uses SATA standard interface as normal hard drives.

In my opinion, you should take the model with SSD. 256 GB is enough for the operating system and applications as well as for some important data. If you need more disk external HARD disk space use. SSDS are very fast and you will see the performance of the SSD HARD drive instead ;)

  • Re: Portege R500-11 with SSD: I want to install Win XP

Sorry if this is a common question, but I haven't had no luck with the research.

I have a Portege R500-11 pair with SSD and I want their downgrade to XP. (speed issues)

First question. Is it possible or are there problems?

Second: I guess I have to install the SSD driver, with nlite or F6 during installation of the victory, but which is the correct driver? Can someone give me the exact link, please?

    Is this? Intel Storage Manager.

Thanks for your help and sorry again if it is a question of RTFM.
    Good bye

  • HPE-495 desktop - HARD drive is u/s, please help to rebuild with SSDS

    Hi all

[[2 TB Hitachi SATA 3.0 GB/s] HARD drive GL8E]. The current failed HARD drive is connected to the sata1 and there is a spare on the motherboard sata2. Spare power supplies available [CH 4 & ch 5]. Office was running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I would like to install a 840 EVO Samsung 250 GB SSD SATA 3 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 and a second [still undecided 2 TB Western Digital SATA 3] as data drive.

These discs are backaward compatible with the existing architecture of SATA - y at - it all isuues with this proposal, would I need to make changes to the BIOS, other than this initial boot off dvd player to install the new windows on the ssd drive?

    Thank you very much.

If you replace the current HARD drive with SSD in SATA1, new in SATA2 HARD drive and let the CD/DVD in SATA3 on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-495uk desktop, your computer should boot the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit DVD into the CD/DVD drive. This assumes that the disks are new with absolutely no data on them. You may need to, press the "ESC" key or the "F # ' suitable for your computer, select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

Is it possible for me to replace the HHD with SSD in my HP Pavilion TouchSmart Sleekbook14-f027cl? And if so, how? • Satellite Pro L100: USB2 drivers do not have compatibility with Win XP

SAT Pro L100 - I loaded the USB 2 drivers received using a prolific USB to Serial Comm Port (Sunix - UTS1009B) a single port USB to serial port cable.

In each instance of loading the drivers message appears "did not the Windows Logo test for compatibility with Win XP. If continue or stop, drivers do not work.

Seems as if there is a problem loading the USB 2 drivers. need assistance?

    Expensive branded

    That s nothing unusual.
Many 3rd party drivers have not been tested by Microsoft and the message appears so that the pilot didn't make the Windows logo test for compatibility with Win XP!

But if you use a driver that was designed for Win XP, you just continue and finish the installation.

So, don t worry not and follow these steps!

  • 10.11.2 OSX compatibility with EpsonScanner V330

10.11.2 OSX compatibility with EpsonScanner V330

Check the Canon website to see if they support the unit on OS X 11.11.2. Apple does not have the printer and scanner drivers, these are provided by the manufacturers of the devices.

If Epson does not support the unit on 10.11.2 so be sure to visit Vuescan and download a trial version and see if it works for you.
