Inspiron Desktop 3847, no noise

I bought a Dell Inspiron Desktop 3847. I plugged my old speakers on the blue plug on the back of the computer. The speaker on the screen icon shows a connected speaker and gives the % it is turned on. I have powered speakers turned on and volume turned up. I have no sound. Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Someone else to check the color of the ports in the case of color blindness. The standard is the Green led is output audio to the speakers, not blue. Difficult to distinguish.

  • 3847 Inspiron desktop PC to install Windows 7

Can I wipe the HARD drive and install Windows 7 instead of Windows 8.1 on my desk of 3847 Del Inspiron? I have a clean copy bought on Windows 7.

Yes you can, here, it's your system drivers: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-3847-desktop

If you notice that when you choose the operating system for your drivers, you see "MS Windows 7 64 bit"

That means you can install Win7 on your system and have drivers that work with this operating system, 'MAKE SURE YOUR IS of WIN 7 64 bit,' there are no WIN 7 32 bit drivers (not to mention that Vista 32 bits).

When you wipe the drive make sure you "ZÉRO" completely then install fresh as if it were a new drive to the store.

  • Inspiron desktop PC (3847, early 2013), User Guide?

I just bought a Dell Inspiron 3847 with Windows 7. Only, it came with a Quick Start Guide. I went to the Dell website and print the user manual. This isn't what I'm looking for. This guide shows how to take the computer apart and back together. I tried 8 times now to find someone to tell me where to find a guide to show me what this computer has programs and what he does. Why can't someone tell me this information? Thanks for the help.

Go to the control panel configuration, then programs. This will show what programs have been added.

  • Maximum memory of 660 Inspiron desktop PC

I picked up an Inspiron 660 of Best Buy Black Friday offer, model I660-6038BK. It comes with 12 GB of ram, Windows sees fortunately. I'm curious to know what is the maximum memory is. Oddly, everyone (Dell, Kingston) Crucial says that the 660 is limited to 8 GB. I also see 660's on Amazon.com with 16 GB of ram. I saw 25 available but GB BD - R can't seem to find a regular CD - R with this ability.  The BD - R will work?  I have an Inspiron Desktop 3847.

Any drive with enough capacity will work. Any type of CD is limited to 800 MB, DVD 4.7 GB and Blu - Ray up to 50 GB (I think that these values are correct, correct me if I'm wrong). If you have a blu Ray burner, blu Ray disk will work.

You have the Inspiron Desktop 3000 Series Mini Tower 3847, or Inspiron 3000 series small office 3647.

Yes, the two above support a PCIe x 16 discrete graphics card, but the Inspiron Desktop 3000 Series Mini Tower 3847, is the best model for the upgrade, because of the limitations of computer small desktop chassis.

  • Upgrade POWER Inspiron 3847-10000bk

I intend to upgrade 300w PSU from my desktop 3847 to an EVGA 650w PSU.  The latter is slightly longer, but I'm sure I can get to fit.  It also comes with many connectors, including the 24 pins and connectors 4 pin on my mb.

I ran this by Dell technical support, who all say that improved POWER supply will cause problems for my mb.  Wherever any of them answer my question about why it would be, the answer is absurd and seems to be based on the belief that the higher power PSU will send too much power at the Mo and it burn.  Since the power go to the mb will rely on what attracts the MB, the size of the PSU, the explanation is not illogical.  Another employee of technical support, said the highest 'tension' would cause a problem.  Since the voltage for the rails on the power supplies is the same, it's not supposed.  The amps are what is different.

Thus, 4 technical support people I do business with Dell, none of them really seem to understand even the basics of the issue and a couple of them referred even me to speak with the Sales Department of an answer, I tried and learned quickly that mine was a technical support issue.  It seems to fill their roles of area rather than real knowledge of customer service.

Anyway, I know that Dell does not sell an upgrade of the power supply for my system, but this does not mean that I can't add a.  Does anyone know of something real, I left with a more powerful power supply technique?

There is no problem as long as the power supply 150W on the 3.3v / 5v rails and at least 15 w on the 5VSB rail.  Corsair CS750M works, but CX750 does not work.  Antec Earthwatts 650W works, Antec True power 550W II.   EVGA NEX B 750, 1 does not have EVGA 750 G2 done.

  • How to get or install a 2nd HD for Inspiron 530 desktop PC

I'm helping a colleague to set up a new Dell Inspiron 530 desktop computer. It is not possible to order this online with a 2nd hard drive system. He's thinking about controlling the system with a single HD, then buy another HD locally and adding.

However, what I saw inside my elderly parents Dimension 521, Dell goes HD using a plastic slider/support type and not with the 4 screws usual. I guess that the Inspiron desktop computer uses a similar system and that the plastic support is necessary to mount the HD in the case.

I would like more details on this subject. Is there room to the desktop Inspiron for a 2nd HD? Is it possible to order the HD mounting bracket separately and how? Alternatively, if you place your order by phone, would it be possible to have the 2nd HD included in the original order of the system.

  • Desktop/Monitor audio best installation tips please :@)

Hi Im new in the world of desktop computers, like Ive never had laptops before so Im used to everything being built together and would like to know any advice on the best set up with the following please.

I just bought the 3847 Desktop Inspiron with windows 8.1 and monitor Dell S2340L.

I am connected to the monitor using HDMI.

I have a pair of old Genius speakers that connect using a connector headphone jack and I can put it is in the monitor or the front of the base unit.

I don't see a connection headphone jack at the back of the device, which is where I would have preferred it to be. There is no headphone connection where the HDMI graphics card, but above of what there is pink, green and blue circular connectors. Pink has a micro top symbol but Ive means no symbol of the idea that the other two, they are circles with an arrow that goes left and another will (Im assuming that its for connectors on the left and individual right?).

There he has a way to connect the speakers to the back of the unit rather than the front, can I 'wrong' pc by accepting the speakers via the microphone jack?

The question because I use the software, Camstudio and Bandicam record stream videos with sound and now I can't get the sound recorded so its in headset before on taking office, he does not record when it is connected to the monitor that would be my first choice and as I say I do not see a connection headphone jack at the back.

IM wondering if there is a way to do this via the screen or connections that are in the back of the desktop, I do not like these components to the front coming out of my cat to sniff here or pass me and break:(lol.)

If someone things another type of speakers would resolve the issue too much, I'd appreciate this view.

It was not any mode of employment with the bureau, if Im wondering if there is a place online that told me all about these things?

Thanks for reading, hope, that I have not sounded too complicated or anything like that and thanks in advance.

    Ronin :)

Here are the manuals 3847 Inspiron Desktop. Save this link for future use. Open the Inspiron 3847 PDF specification. The green back panel is your main audio "Line-out" output jack. This is where you would plug in speakers.

  • Setting up windows xp as a server desktop and by linking a laptop Windows 7 via linksys E2000

I have a Dell Inspiron desktop on windows xp computer. I just plugged by ether net to a Linksys E200 wireless router. I was able to get my wife to recognize the router's cell phone and take the line with two computers (desktop via ether net, wireless laptop). My problem is: I can't do both at the network as a whole if I can use the office as a shared print server (USB Canon Mp170 printer). I am licensed and cannot afford to buy a wireless printer just for the laptop, so I would like to make this work. I tried the dell networking tool, I tried windows networking and they are not "see each other... any ideas?

    Hello

You must configure the printers to share on the XP computer and install the drivers for the printer as a network printer on other computers using the correct version for each computer.

    To set up sharing system.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

    ------------------------------

Win 7 networking with other version of Windows as a work network.

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have authorization and security problems, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . There must be specific users. All means all users who already have an account now as users. This does not mean everyone who feel they would like to connect.

  • just got an Inspiron small office 3646

just got this Inspiron desktop computer small office 3646 and was wondering do I need best speakers for this because I used some speakers who have a left and right speaker and tried the two connectors on the back of the desktop and no audio not out but then I tried best speakers that I use on my laptop Dell 1526, which has 4 speakers and a subwoofer and it works , but it is only on the 2nd plug in the previous

Your speakers should be plugged into the Green jack line. The speakers must be able to leave their own adapter or to be plugged into one of the USB ports on the back. You must then open the RealTek ALC3600 Control Panel and select the speakers.
