Instability of the virus that causes BaseFlash Extension

First: Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1; 64 bit; Firefox (JUST updated) v28.0. Already ran Norton Security Online & MalwareByte Anti-Malware into a comprehensive analysis, to no result *.

On with the problem: For a couple of months already, some sites in which I've browsed were displaying a bit odd, for example YouTube: the video thumbnails are greyed out and show no pictures (Flash Player & Java are updated) whatsoever, and also whenever I click to watch a video, I gotta reload the page for it to load.

I did a few tests, obtained in Mode safe, everything was fine. Check my extensions: Boom. A foreign extension in Mozilla: it is called BaseFlash.

I don't know where it comes from, but I only discovered that he was causing all the trouble, it turns out that I CAN turn it off and the problem goes away. Thing is, as soon as I restart Firefox it's still there, activated. There is no delete option, as you can expect from a third-party extension.

Now, I tried several ways to get it out: I have obviously checked in uninstall programs. Nothing.

  • I found something at the MMFA, I deleted it and it did nothing. The extension is always present.

I tried to access the path of the application via subject: config... but it is not found.
I even checked the Windows registry. NOTHING! This thing is still on my tab of the Add-ons Manager, tho.

If anyone could lend me a hand here, I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks for your time, it was my first thread, so sorry if I did not come together quite right.

I'm glad to hear that your problem has been resolved.

I hope that you will continue using our products and we thank you for contacting the Mozilla Support.

  • ABBYY 9.0 Sprint - safe or a part of the virus that seems to be eating my files?

I continued to get guests to download an audio file from an unknown source today, so I just kept close the box. Then, the computer froze and when I rebooted I found that the programs are not open as they usually - slow and brilliance.

I took the computer to this morning here and then all of my documents and folders disappeared! Great huh? It is the solution that can assure you it will not affect documents or records...

I undid then restore but still no record - actually, one or both who survived have disappeared. Now I get a message prompt to download ABBYY Sprint 9 and boxes pop up saying that I "errors critical hard drive"...

    Hello

Method 1 : perform the clean boot and check if the problem persists.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

Method 2 : run the disk check and see if the problem occurs.

    Warning of Chkdsk.

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive, then chkdsk attempts to repair this sector. If no data is available while data may be lost.

  • Host detects the virus that is ran in the virtual machine

When I google search for "virus to test download" and open the 2nd link in my windows 7 VM, avast on my host computer is like VIRUS DETECTED. I'm guessing that this occurs because the virtual computer uses the internet hosts.

PS: it was once my I.T. teacher told me that he was sure navigation in a virtual machine.

Host antivirus can detect the test virus in the network traffic and also could detect when the VM saves on hard drive of the virtual machine (which, after all, is stored just as a set of files on the hard drive of the host).  Some antivirus programs scan even the memory used by all processes running, in which case it can also discover that the test virus from the data in the memory of the virtualization engine.  None of these situations are a source of real concern for the host.

Navigation in a virtual machine is generally considered safe from the point of view of the host, but virtualization will do nothing to directly protect the OS itself invited to malware that it can capture.

Note that VMware Workstation has a few features that deliberately to break the isolation barrier and could expose the host to a malicious client.  If you are worried about it, a good starting point to lock the virtual computer is to go in the settings of the virtual machine, choose the Options tab, make sure the shared folders is disabled (under Guest insulation), make sure that the Clipboard and features drag-and - drop are disabled.

I hear a new empty tab, this is what happens if I click on the button with the + next door already open tabs or navigate to the file and click New tab nothing.

Uninstall the toolbar Ask and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask and Firefox toolbar that prevents the opening of new tabs.

    Brettmcm,

If you see this "FlipToast" in the Panel and it will not uninstall try to start safe mode and uninstall mode without failure or Mode safe mode with networking.  Also can you find in Program Files and folder to uninstall?  Also check the Menu start... see if he is there... If so, uncheck it and then go find it in Program Files (or wherever it is) and remove it.

  • AntiVirus 2010 Removal, the virus blocks MalwareBytes running

I downloaded the MalwareBytes software to remove the virus "AntiVirus 2010" ", but as soon as I run the program a window pops up saying" Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.» You don't have the appropriate permissions to access the item "."

I read about the virus on bleepingcomputer.com and apparently it's a part of the defense of viruses to block his own abduction. The site recommends open "cmd.exe" and paste in what follows to allow access, people left comments saying that it works. But for me the virus it just cancel again once in about 30 seconds and MalwareBytes continues to crash.

    Cacls "c:\program Malwarebytes Anti - Malware\mbam.exe" / g everyone: F

It would be also worth noting, the virus also causes McCaffee crashing, and Avast is not in a full system scan. For some reason any and I'm not sure if it's the work of the AntiVirus 2010... or just a glitch. When I go to restore my PC to a previous date list times and dates back to the restoration of the system is empty, I never had to try it before today, so maybe it's just one little problem that previously existed. Needless to say that the 2 common solutions of Malwarebytes or a system restore fail epicly no fault of mine.

I'm not computer illiterate, but I would not be able to remove it manually to be honest. Format my PC is looking like the only option at this point...

I recently had to have my rebuilt computer caused by a virus. Now I have Mozilla Firefox with ABP and see that Firefox has a program's built-in phishing and viruses. Do I need a program additional anti-malware? If so, the one that works best with Firefox? Seems put more you on these things the you have more trouble.

The anti-phishing protection and malware that Firefox uses checks against a list of websites that have been reported to contain a form of malware and then alerts you. Firefox itself does not scan files to see if they contain viruses/malware. You still need a form any anti-virus and anti-malware protection. You must also use a firewall.

    Hello

See the following message to solve the problem of .exe if necessary once you are sure that the system is clean.

Try Mode safe mode with networking - repeatedly, press F8 that you start.

The best two methods allow scanners to run and/or AV.exe out of the way or removing.

    1.
CTRL SHIFT ESC - task manager OR right click on the taskbar - task manager

Process tab - complete the process on AV. EXE and continue with the uninstall Guide.

If necessary use start - computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to

C:\Program Malwarebytes Anti - Malware\mbam.exe or where it is installed - if
necessary right click on the shortcut of Malwarebytes - Properties - tab - target line to see where it
    is installed.

Right-click on it and rename it to ZZMbam.COM (or something different than now), then
Double-click it and run it like this. You can rename it back later. Do the same with others
programs as needed. Use this method for other necessary - DO NOT ASSUMER one
program removes all or that there is no other malware.

Another method is to use them:

Use Process Explorer to "Suspend" the process will not stop
