Install ESXi on laptop

Hello

Just again with installation question, how to add NETWORK adapter drivers when installing ESXi in the laptop.

and a minimum of RAM, HARD drive and other.

Thank you

Anand.P.K

To install ESXi on unsupported hardware, you will need to know if there is a package of drivers for hardware components such as your network card and create an installation with this already injected driver image.

The minimum requirement for ESXi is 4 GB (you need more memory if you want to run virtual machines however). The basically required disk space depends on the virtual machine to run, for ESXi itself - including the scores of dump - requires less than 10 GB. However, given that it is a laptop, you may have to see if the HARD disk controller is supported as well.

    Welcome to the community,

Please take a look at http://www.virten.net/2013/09/esxi-5-x-installation-on-intel-nuc-fails-with-no-network-adapters/ for more information on how to customize the installation image to recognize your network card. When you install ESXi as a virtual machine in VMware Workstation, it is not the physical NETWORK adapter which is presented to the virtual machine, but a virtual NETWORK adapter for which ESXi uses built-in drivers.

  • 1st install ESXi does not connect to the network

I used VMware Fusion and several versions of the workstation. I am a computer SCIENCE student and I'm trying to set up a virtual server for the purpose of learning environment.

First, I installed ESXi in workstation computer on my laptop. I scare IT LIKED. I ran to the store bought a fresh HDD to install ESXi to my old server Supermicro (MBD-PDSMA + o LGA). During installation, I received a warning that the Intel Virtualization has been disabled on my motherboard. I activated that can restart the installation. No matter what I try I can not this 'thing' to get an address from my DHCP server. I even tried unpluging my router and using several computers on my network as DHCP servers. Each of them I tried my entire network has received fresh IP address but my supermicro box did not. I tried to use two network, port 0 only ports and only 1 port. After having lost about 24 hours I tried to install 5.0.0 and it worked without problem. I would like to be able to update the latest versions unmolested my network connection is going to die on me when I do.

    Ideas?

My next issue will be storage because not even my JABOD drives appear in my passthrough RocketRaid 2220 and PCI does not seem to be an option for this card. Yep, that's good baby PCI - X... Say what you want about RocketRaid, this card was sitting at the bottom of a box of son with no static case a few years to 3-4 moves and it still works like a champ.

I had the same problem with a card mother similar supermicro who has the same Intel Lan Adapter as yours.  Using the e1000 drivers of 5.0 worked for me.  I followed the instructions in this thread:

ITunes detects the iPod, but 'cannot correctly identify' uninstalled iTunes and then re-installed. Restarted laptop. Folder deleted Apple Lockdown, rebooted, still could not "identify" during each step, also disconnected iPod USB port.

Try the following (in that order).  Looks like you're using Windows (not a Mac), so I'll make this assumption...

Shut down (power off) the computer, disconnect all the USB devices.  Plug the laptop power adapter, so that it does not work on battery power.  Do this Reset (reboot), the iPod

Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support

Start computer, run iTunes and connect the iPod to a USB direct on the laptop by itself.  If there is no difference, put the iPod in Disk Mode

Put the iPod in disk - Apple Support Mode

Then connect to the laptop again, always by himself.  If iTunes picks it up, he may ask you to do a restore with a message on the "recovery."  If you're OK with deletion of the iPod, do the restore.  See if the iPod is "correctly identified" after restoration.

If the problem persists, you said you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but may not have uninstalled iTunes and associated software components.  Follow the steps in this document to uninstall an iTunes installation components, in the order described all listed

  • I have Windows Defender. Should I still something like Norton installed on my laptop?

    Original title: Windows Defender

I have Windows Defender.  Should I still something like Norton installed on my laptop?

Yes. Windows Defender protects against spyware, no malware in general.

Your choice may be paid for the 3rd party program such as Norton or Kaspersky, or you can go for something free like Microsoft Security Essentials.

Make sure you have a firewall too.

There, Windows XP had a battery drain fix (patch). How can I determine if this hotfix is installed on my laptop? I haven't used a battery for years, but I would like to order a.

If the hotfix is not installed, how can I get it to install?

Your question is too vague.  Most of the life themes battery by Windows XP tasks occur only in some computers - and yours may or may not benefit from all the suggested fixes.  In addition, some of these plots have been released a long time ago and were likely incorporated into a later Service Pack.  You should have installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP 5 years.

If you want to use your laptop as a portable device, I suggest you buy a battery - not the cheapest possible one - and use it for a while.  If you experience shorter than the normal battery life, you can ask for help then or read through the results of this research--> http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?query=battery+life+xp&x=4&y=8&mode=a&spid=global&catalog=LCID%3D1033&wa=wsignin1.0

  • I installed in my laptop XP - SP3 PersonalFirewall of Privacyware and I have this problem: when restarting, always internet access isn't available (WiFi/LAN).

    network adapter AutoDetect fails

    Hello:

I installed in my laptop XP - SP3 PersonalFirewall of Privacyware and I have this problem: when restarting, always internet access isn't available (WiFi/LAN).
Using the command ipconfig, I found that these cards are not detected. (Although without wireless/LAN icons do not display the modem connection). Also, if I go into Device Manager, I see network cards. BUT if I select "research material changes", then the other adapters will appear (those of Privacyware) and internet connection is reset and it will work then.  I wonder why windows does not detect this kind of cards automatically when I start it.

This problem occurs only in my laptop - I installed the project Feederwatch on a laptop another XP and it worked, so Privacyware cannot provide a solution, since seems a very specific problem.

    Thanks for any idea!

    Seems that the solution was:

1 - Open Device manager and view the hidden devices.
    2. then go into not connectable & play devices and manually delete all the remainers network software & security uninstalled (process antivirus, firewall, monitor).
    3. several reboots were required in order to know if the garbage problem has been removed.

    Hello

You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.

32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.

32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.

  • Where can I find key for business to Vista pre-installed on my laptop?

Where can I find key for business to Vista pre-installed on my laptop?  Yes, I have a legal authenticated copy of Vista business on my laptop.  I recently had to reinstall everything on my laptop, but had some problems using the backup disks that I initially created for this purpose.  I finally managed to do it, but it would be so much easier in the future if I had a with key correct installation disc.  So, first of all, where can I download an Installation of Vista Business disc; and second, where I look on my current laptop installation to determine the key authenticated for my current installation?  Is this possible?

    Hello

Many manufacturers of computers DO still have available Vista recovery discs.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Help, please...

    Hi dynamitenews

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop?
    2. what happens when you try to start the computer?

You must have the DVD drive to start the computer using the disk, you cannot use the external hard drive to do the same thing.

Also I suggest you to make sure you have defined the start as CD/DVD-Rom as the first choice option in the BIOS. See below the help link-
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/BIOS-frequently-asked-questions

If nothing is done, then you can contact the manufacturer support for assistance on setting up the correct boot sequence and check.

    Hello

I have the Pavilion dv7-3090er laptop with Samsung 4 GB DDR3 RAM, product # VT351EA #ACB, OS Windows 7 Home Premium x 64. and I would like to install 8 GB of RAM. Documentation says not clear (in Russian) if it's possible or not to install 8 GB of RAM.

I did experiment with two 4 GB Kingston bars KVR1333D3S9 / 4G. When the modules have been installed (8 GB) laptop does not work - only power is on black screen...

I've tried every combination of 4 modules and they have worked. So my result of max RAM installed is 6 GB.

Could you specify is possible to have 8 GB on board?

    Alex,

According to dv7 Maintenance and Service of Guide (this one dated September 2009), you should be able to install up to and including 8 GB of RAM in the computer.

See section 1-1 and then 3-4, 3-16 and 4-17 respectively.
