Install more memory RAM

Hi, I just bought a Dell XSP 8900 and laid up in my Dell 8500 XSP.  My question is can I use RAM memory chips in my old 8500 in my new 8900?  Also, can I use the old hard drive and DVD drive?

Thank you

RAM - probably not.
8900 XPS uses 2133 MHz DDR4 RAM
XPS 8500 uses the DDR3 RAM, up to 1600 MHz

Even if you could / layout DDR3 with DDR4, RAM everything would go at the speed of the slowest so your 2133 MHz RAM would be slowed down.

HARD drive: OK, but you will probably not be able to boot from it that if you reinstall Windows

DVD: probably OK

How it came to new 2x1GB can these be removed and install more memory

    Hey hun01,

I searched a bit using Google and the Equium A200-15I is equipped with an Intel 943GML chipset and this means that the laptop can use up to 2 GB of RAM (2 x 1 GB modules).
If your laptop is already equipped with two 1 GB modules you can t upgrade it and if not you PC2-5300 modules to upgrade your laptop.

In addition, you should also check the user manual where you can find additional information about it.

Only if you have the 27-inch model. The 21-inch models cannot be upgraded. However, you can view at OWC to see if they upgrade kit for DIY with a video tutorial. I don't know if they do it, but you can check with them.

  • Add more memory RAM

How to add memory to the PC all-in-one HP 100 b?

I bought this as a bundle to the Tiger Direct site. The memory module that was included was a Kingston KVR1222D3S9 / 4G... I see no way to get into the unit without any disassemble... Hummm

    Thanks in advance

    John Allen

I had the same beam.  Yes, you don't have to disassemble.  It's really like a laptop big.

Remove the 5 screws around the outer edge (at the back of the computer).  Then look at the bottom edge of the computer.  There are about half a dozen slots, who ran a flat screwdriver will fit in.  From one side, insert a screwdriver in each unit and the twist.  You may think that you're going to break, but each lock will jump.  You probably tooth / warp the plastic at the point of the slots, but you'd see only that when you look at the bottom of the computer, so no real problem.  Pop all the locks, and it opens like a clam shell.  Looking at the back of the computer, you will see a large metal plate.  Near the upper left corner is a small (2 "x 3" or more ") Panel with one screw holding it in.  Remove the screws and the memory.  At this point, it's pretty simple.

You will see 6 GB of memory installed but only 2.5 available.

To use all 6 Gig...  The machine is supplied with Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.  You can do what I did, call HP, ask them to send you the disk for Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and they will ship one to you, free of charge.  Recharge it with the 64-bit version, and you should be able to use all the memory.

Memory installed last night, called HP tonight.  You can do the online chat.  It took almost 2 hours to spend on their phone support.  Surprisingly, the guy I talked to seemed knowledgeable enough and very reasonable.

    Good luck!

  • Non-techie needs advice on buying and installing more memory (DIMM?) on my laptop T60

  • Add more memory to my iMac will accelerate it?

It runs very slowly - has only 4 GB of memory installed.

It seems relatively easy and inexpensive to install more memory, but how do you know if lack of memory causes the slowness?

When I go about this Mac, there is tons of storage space. I guess that the Intel Core 2 Duo processor is pretty run down...

    Hi Karena13,

SHORT ANSWER: Yes, it will probably accelerate.

Storage and memory (RAM live) are two different things. Let's say your computer is a library. Storage is the box with all the books on the shelves, while your RAM is the table that you are using.

If you take more than 95% percent of your storage space, it's as if you stored books on the floor between the shelves: you will get work more slowly.

If you have a smaller table, you will also lose efficiency, because you will not be able to everything you need to put on the table.

Both are important, but they are different.

You can check your use of memory (RAM) using the activity monitor (you can find it in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder). Use the monitor activity on your Mac - Apple Support

  • How can I install additional memory in iMac end 2012?

Is there something special I should know about installing more memory in my end 2012 27 "iMac?  I installed before memory in older iMacs.

    Thank you

Nothing special. It is not difficult to do since you have prior experience.

  • HP Pavilion 763n automatically restart after installing additional memory

I just installed more memory for my Compaq HP Pavilion 763n.  My operating system is Windows XP and the memory card, I bought 1 GB DDR - 266 (PC2100) Non - ECC Unbuffered 184-pin 2.5V CL = 2.5 64 X 8 memory.  When I installed the new memory, I restarted my PC - and everything worked fine, but the PC automatically restarts every 5 to 10 minutes.

I installed the new memory card of 1 GB two ways - in the second location of memory (virgins) next to the original card of 512 MB, then I turned off the PC and installed the new card of 1 GB instead of the original card of 512 MB (I removed the card to origin), thinking that maybe the problem.

It still restarts automatically every 5 to 10 minutes.  I now use the PC with the original sound of the memory only card, so the problem is certainly related to the installation of the memory card.

Anyone has an idea why my PC is doing this and what to do?

Thank you very much for all your comments!

The Hynix used d ' award by OEMs and seems to be a good memory.  I'm not fallen on the Elpida brand.

  • Install more RAM DDR3

I recently bought a HP Pavilion n207sa 15 with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, however, I would like to install more.

I scanned my laptop on Crucial and he told me that I have 2 slots. I had a quick glance and I only see one. I don't know if it's just being stupid or something, but I can't find another.

Can someone tell me if I do or not please? Also if I just 1, is that with the purchase of an 8 GB on its own? But then, I feel that my 4 GB does no use and wasted. Can someone please solve my problem? Thank you.

Not because they never represent something different. None of the documentation related to this model will say it has 2 memory slots or specify a max memory longer than 8 gigs.

  • I don't have the money to buy more ram, how to remove programs to get more memory and how do I know which programs remove

I need of more memory, I can't afford to buy it, how to remove stuff to create more memory and how do I know what programs are ok to remove

I think you're confusing terms and certainly confuse us.

RAM/memory (they are identical) is the memory on the computer that is used by programs running as a temporary store for data.  How to reduce the amount of memory used is to close unnecessary programs or does not work as much.  for example close the browser and your e-mail so that the execution of Word program.  You do not need to uninstall programs, run just not, to save memory.

IF you talk about not having enough disk space to store your programs and data, then the way to increase the free space on the disc IS to uninstall unnecessary programs - only you can decide what programs you don't need.  One way to increase disk space is to make sure you have emptied your Recycle Bin to delete the old data files, you don't want to, and uninstall programs.

You need to tell us exactly what error messages you get so that we can determine what your problem is.

  • What happens to the extra 12 GB 8 GB memory RAM that I installed Vista Ultimate 32 bit?

    Hello

Could you please tell about the question in the topic?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    It's a very simple answer

a 32-bit windows system cannot use RAM 12GBs

You can install 4GBs of RAM in a 32-bit operating system; and that's the limit

Read any article of microsoft relative to your question:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929605

System memory shown in the system information dialog box in Windows Vista is less than expected if the 4 GB of RAM is installed

Read the explanation of Microsoft here and on the link above.

"If a computer has 4 gigabytes (GB) of memory (RAM) installed, system memory shown in the dialog system information in Windows Vista less than you would expect.

For example, the system information dialog box may report 3 120 megabytes (MB) of memory system on a computer that has 4 GB of installed memory (4 096 MB). "

to use your full 12GBs RAM that you need a 64-bit operating system
