Install my own Pro 8.1 Windows

Hello

I have a HP Envy 17-J010EL.

I will install my own, new, copy the retail Windows Pro 8.1.

Because I prefer to install a different OS rather than replace the existing, buil-in HP OEM Windows 8, I prepared the second disc to install it. I shared the second drive into 2 partitions: 50 GB (for Windows) and the remaining 880 GB for data.

I inserted the DVD and started the installation process of Windows 8.1 Pro, but he stopped at the beginning with this message:

"We could not install Windows to the location you have chosen. Please check your Media Player. "1nfo Herr more on what happened: 0 x 80300024.

I searched an error on Google, but I found a few tips for when it occurs on the first disc (C, and this isn't my case.)

Help, please?

Thank you

p.s.: the red arrow indicates that I have to install the new OS Win8.1 Pro

Hey @carloxp ,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are having problems installing Windows 8.1 on a second drive in your laptop.

Technically this question would be more appropriate to ask on the forums of Microsoft , but I'll see what I can do for you.

Most important: make sure that you install the 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 not the 32-bit version.

I also suggest the backup of the info on the D: partition and completely formatting the drive. Allow Windows install and shrink the partition after to create the new disk.

Start the installation of Windows 8.1 you course Windows 8 OS. This should help to protect the integrity of the operating system that you are currently active:

  1. Insert the DVD.
  2. Click on the file setup.exe.
  3. In the menu of Windows Installer, click install now.
  4. Use the updates to Get to the installation feature if it is available.
  5. Accept the terms of the license.
  6. Select custom for the type of installation.
  7. To the place where you want to install Windows, select the partition you want to install Windows on.
  8. Click Next, and follow the steps.

Note it is not really no reason to have Windows 8 and 8.1 of Windows on the same notebook, especially if you consider that Windows 8.1 is a free update. If your concern is a clean install, I would say simply by creating the DVD recovery and then the installation in the folder C: disk for the recovery of a media backup makes you also earn extra space from the recovery partition.

If this does not help, I would post on the Microsoft forums as the problem is with the installation of operating system.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Windows student & Teacher Edition 1 user

About two weeks ago, I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Windows student & Teacher Edition 1 user of the digital production team Dell software partner. I still have to download the software because I have questions and they cannot (or refuses) to answer.

In my initial email to Dell software partner digital production team. I asked the two questions and gave them some background.

My background: I have two computers running. My old laptop using Microsoft Vista while my new HP desktop running Windows 10. Here are the details: link to the FAQ in the Center Dell download the following question appears under the Questions common header: "can I use the Dell Download Manager to create a backup CD/DVD? Response to this question is: "If you use the Vista operating system, the answer is Yes." My question is: can I download and install 'Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 Windows student & Teacher Edition 1 user' using my old laptop Vista, backup to CD/DVD and recovery and use this backup to CD/DVD to install the program on my new HP running Windows 10 desktop?

Question: The above situation works in reverse? I.e. can I download and install "Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 student & Teacher Edition 1 Windows user" using my new desktop computer HP running Windows 10 and making a backup CD/DVD and recovery and use this backup to CD/DVD to install the program on my old laptop which uses Windows Vista?

    Your help is definitely appreciated.

    Hi robert444z,

Please be informed that Acrobat DC is compatible on Windows 7 and later (system requirements for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Acrobat Standard DC ).

So, you won't be able to install it on Windows Vista.

    Kind regards

I want to uninstall windows xp media center edition because I think it's slowing down my computer and the computer unable to multitask. It was installed on xp pro. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi KirkStratton,

You cannot uninstall Windows Media Center, it is an integral part of the operating system. You can stop the process of Media Center to run. After you have upgraded in the only way that you could go back to the previous version of Windows would be to perform a clean installation.

    Follow these steps:

    (a) open the menu 'Start', then click on 'Control Panel'.

    (b) click on add or remove programs. Click on "access to default values and selection programs."

    (c) click on 'continue' and check the "Custom" in the menu drop-down box.

    (d) scroll down to the "Choose default Media Player" section.

    (e) uncheck the box that says "enable access to this program" next to 'Windows Media Center'. Click OK.

  • Install Windows 7 Pro key on Windows 7 Home Premium

Building a new computer, buy Windows 7 Pro OEM. The user has previous computer that is running Windows 7 Home Premium OEM.

The user does not want to have to reinstall all the programs previously, the installation program, then we go to existing Windows 7 sysprep/image. This triggers the wake on the new machine. We have a new OEM license for the new machine, but it's for the Pro instead of HP. Is there a way to fix this?

Make your Windows 7 HP image restore, then test it.  Then go to Pro.

Assuming your sysprep image / & your imaging utility can face the task to restore on the new hardware & Windows 7 this is why works correctly on the TI *, your level then activation using the Pro product key {see the procedure below published by André} should allow all components to Windows 7 Pro.

[* I urge you to register running Windows update to your original HP-system test so that you can enter activation Pro stage knowing that this critical element is fully functional.]

When you test after activation Pro can't find any problems, but if you do, they might well be fixed by running a repair [aka InPlace upgrade] install using your Pro installation CD.

  • Can I buy a PC with Windows 8, install the free 8.1 update, then install the Pack Pro 8.1?

Can I buy a PC with Windows 8, install the free 8.1 update, then install the Pack Pro 8.1?

Thank you for your response. Curiosity you have done yourself, or find that it documented somewhere? I look around on the Microsoft store and support pages. I would not buy Pro pack, open it, and then not be able to return if Windows does not allow me to install it.

I personally, doesn't have Windows 8, 8.1, but the same principles apply to Windows set level 8.1 to Windows Pro 8.1.

    Step 1:

When you receive your new Windows 8 PC, apply the latest Windows updates. Its likely your machine may not have been updated in months if he was sitting in a box on a store shelf or in a warehouse.

    Step 2:

Backup installation of Windows 8 pre-installed:

    http://techingiteasy.WordPress.com/2012/10/29/how-to-backup-your-Windows-8-installation/

Also check the manufacturer's documentation to learn how to create a recovery media where you do not have an external hard drive.

You can also create a recovery disk using a USB key.

Press the Windows key + W

    Type: create the recovery disk

Make sure you have a USB stick with enough space

    Plug it in

Check the option copy the recovery partition

Follow the instructions on the screen.

    Step 3:

    Upgrade to 8.1 Windows

    http://techingiteasy.WordPress.com/2013/10/17/how-to-upgrade-from-Windows-8-to-Windows-8-1/

    Step 4:

Purchase and upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro Pack

    Press Windows + X

    Click System

Click on get more features with a new edition of Windows

Follow the instructions on the screen to make your purchase online.
