Hey Andy, the problem is that the .bundle file you have downloaded is not an ISO image. It's a self-extracting shell script, such as nVidia uses. You don't get her everything first. You just need to run it as sudo. So, (and I think it has instructions for how to do this in the place you downloaded the script .bundle?) just type "sudo sh./VMware-Player...bundle" (with the good name of file here) and who should run the shell script with sudo (elevated to the root) privileges. Please post again on this as to whether it solves your problem or not. HTH!

All appear to be the same way with a message like:

    VMWare.png

However I've checked that the file exists and that I can access. What is the problem?

I had VMWare Player 6.0.5 and could not install/update VMWare tools. So, I suspended my operating system prompted and rebooted VMPlayer. He told me that there is a new VMWare Workstation something 10.x and I wanted to upgrade to it. Okay, of course. Downloaded the update and tried to install. Said to uninstall VMWare Player 6.0.5. Being suspicious, I went and downloaded VMWPlayer 6.0.5 where he screwed up the installation of Workstation 10.0. Of course, he did. So I tried to install Player 6.0.5 so I could return to my suspended VM. In my opinion, what he said that I could not install because I haven't restarted. So I rebooted. Now, I can't install Player 6.0.5 or Workstation 10.0.0 or whatever it is. They all fail on the same way saying the cannot find a .msi file I can find and access.

    Help!

BTW, you guys have far too much product and names making it confusing. What should I use? Player? Workstation? Spear? vCenter, Fusion. The list goes on and. Do not try to give me the list of "well it's for this reason and this other thing". The point is there are too many products and it is too complicated. If you want to tell me what the structure of the product is just limit it to the product I should use. I have a Windows 7 box and you want to run Ubuntu in a VM desktop - that's all...

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please note that this is a forum for peer support and therefore, it is mainly users of VMware help other VMware users who make up the bulk of this forum. It is VMware employees responding in time in time, but in your case here (Note: VMware employees are recognizable because they have a small 'vm' next to their name logo)

With regard to your current number. If you install VMware Workstation, then you have also installed VMware Player next.

Even after the expiry of VMware Workstation, you can continue to use the free VMware Player.

    Hope this helps,

  • Cannot install VMware Player 6.0.2 when username contains apostrophe

    I tried to install VMware Player 6.0.2 in a Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit o/s.

I kept getting "Error in Script" (see image below).

After some research, I found the cause of the problem.  This is because the user name contains an apostrophe.  In some countries, it is normal to have an apostrophe in the name, such as Joan of arc.  For the problem of confidentiality, I don't mention the true name in my case, so let's say it's Joan of arc.  In this problem, the path to "index.htm" is

    C:\users\Jeanne d'Arc\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware_xxxxxxx\index.htm

Then I created another user name "Joan of Arc".  I used this new account to run Setup again and I didn't have the 'Script error '.  It is so clear to me that the apostrophe in user name (and therefore in the path of the file) has been the cause of the problem.

I suspect that this problem can also occur for the installation of VMware Workstation.

As a result of my post:

    This problem happens

    • VMware Player 6 and 7
    • VMware Workstation 10 and 11

    But it is FIXED in

    • VMware (Workstation) 12 player
    • VMware Workstation Pro 12

The questions is most likely the character in the temporary path to your username.  Change your folder environment variable a short path (for example, C:\Temp) without special characters, and then try again.

  • Problem installing VMware Player

I wanted to install VMware Player for some time, but whenever I tried to install it on my computer, I found a bug in the installation script.

I use it on a Windows 7 desktop machine.

Have experience you this problem?  What are my options for installation?

I appreciate any help you can lend.

Do yourself a huge favor and change the MS beast by default folder %TEMP%.  Remove the user folder-specific and TMP % environment variables so just leave the system those - who are the shortest paths and don't contain strange characters, which will often screw up installers.

    OK, I'm back to zero:

    -creates "c:\temp".

    -copy of VMware-player - 3.1.2 - 301548.exe in c:\temp

    -executes the command "c:\temp\VMware-player-3.1.2-301548.exe/e c:\temp\player".

    -executes the command "c:\temp\player\vmware player.msi".

    This should settle down.

  • Install VMware Player 3.1 in the SysV-no Linux based system.

Hello, I'm using Arch Linux here and the previous version worked fine with a few things in the Installer (such as he asked for the system service levels and service of the system scripts).

The new installer application only service system scripts (where I specified /etc/rc.d), and when the installation ends a dialog box with the following text appears:

"No directory rc*.d style init script were only given the installer. You must manually add the necessary links to ensure that the vmware to /etc/rc.d/vmware service is automatically started and stopped on the start and stop. »

The problem is that there is no vmware script to load the modules in this directory, or the modules are built.

With the installers (v3) previous I wrote this guide that explains how to install it, but it is no longer valid.

Thank you very much for your time, best regards,

    James.

    Hello

mayonnaise "dirty workaround: first make sure you have no VMware installed on your computer, and then install VMware Player 3.0.1 according the instructions of jrmoore." Now your file /etc/rc.d/vmware anywhere on your backup disk, uninstall VMware and install 3.1 player. When the installer has grumped about the missing frame output SysV init the and copy the vmware file previously saved in etc/init.d/.

Start VMware as root to compile the modules, out, run as a regular user and good luck.

Edit: and of course delete the superfluous with all its contents /etc/rc.d directory (except that you have something in there).

I downloaded the version 6.01 of VMware Player on the desktop of my laptop Windows 8, but every time I try to install I get the following error...

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

    Yes/No

I followed the base article of knowledge advising me to delete my browsing history and cache and try to download again, but nothing changes.

If I click Yes or no installation goes out the window and my laptop computer fan starts but nothing seems to happen. If I try to abandon the installation by clicking the VM taskbar icon, I get a message saying that the installation is ongoing and to wait for it to finish... I waited more than an hour and the closest, I to a facility is an empty folder of VMware in My Documents.

So I decided to re install WMware with c or d with no luck.

Whenever I try to install it, I get the following error:

The solution that I found when I tried to reinstall Vmware on Windows 7 operating system was to

1.) erase all files from the disk Local Windows (c) / x 86/Vmware programs

    2.) erase all disk Local Windows (c) VMware files / Windows/System 32 / Config and drive Local (c) / Windows / System 32/drivers

(3.) to remove all the temporary files on your computer.

(4.) after download the Free Windows Registry Repair. Link for this program is below.

    {---> http://download.cnet.com/Free-Window-Registry-Repair/3000-2086_4-10606555.html<-------->

(5.) once the program is installed run the registry repair.

6.) when you see the list of registry, errors, go to one of the lines and right-click on it.

(7.) to go to the registry editor.

8.) from there, you'll have to watch although each file and see the description of the file to see if it belongs to the company of Vmware. (These files will have an indicator, for example, VMbooter and so - forth.) Make sure you get VM in the name of the file).

9.) after that you have all the files that have been deleted from your hard drive, run a Disk Defrag and clean disk just for the performance of your.

(10.) you want to go to VMware web site to download the version of vmware you previously as 3.0.1 4.0.1 and so on. This will be the MSI file you need that is corrupted

    * While the program is reinstall, you will notice the prompt will ask you if you want to uninstall your current version of VMware. You'll notice that's nothing in the description. (Do the cleared off the coast of files and a core hidden in the program) *.

11.) as soon as the old MSI download file. Install the newest MSI file (currently VMware Player 5.0.1) and you should see no complications so every step meticulously were complete.

    Hello, welcome to communities

the .bundle is setup for Linux.

You need to download the Windows Installer, which is a .exe

Find it here: download VMware Player 5

And choose VMware Player for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit

    Concerning

  • not installed VMware player

Install the player on windows xp sp3

It is not installed. No errors.

    Starts and then closes.

How to install it? The installation program is based on java?

    PS java installed.

you don't need Java to install vmplayer - I assume that you are using an over-eager Antivirus or Desktop firewall - disable these types of tools during the installation - and make sure that you have not named fixcamera.exe process running

  • VMware Player configuration dialog box is VIRGIN on install or uninstall

I spent 2-3 hours combing through discussion forums, and I can't find a solution. I also noticed that it is a very common problem and good solutions do not actually apply to the problem. Hey tend to be generic fixes or patches for other versions of Windows (which may work) or other software (which do not seem to work at all). So if you please (please) don't refer to solutions aimed specifically at the question. On the other hand, it please add real corrections that actually worked so that the next poor slob who has this error will find useful info all in one place. Thank you :-)

Host computer: Windows XP Pro (32 bit)

Already installed VMware Player 3. something and it worked well.

I remember the same error when I install 1-2 years ago, but I don't remember the fix I used.

    I downloaded, verified and then ran the latest Player (VMware-player - 5.0.2 - 1031769)

I received a 'VMware Player Setup' empty dialog box.

I waited for 5-10 minutes and with nothing happening, I made an "end task".

I restarted the computer and tried again. The same problem.

I searched an answer here and realized that I had to uninstall first the player 3. xxx.

Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs-> VMware Player-> uninstall = the same problem (empty dialog box)

I checked the error log error is: ERROR * CHtmlDialog::CallJScript: failed to get the required jscript ID required; COM error :-2147352570

I ran the VMware_Install_Cleaner.exe, the content of the deleted, temp folder restarted, and I tried uhninstall-> same problem

    2. Run these commands to reregister the files needed and details:
      • If VMware Workstation is installed on a 32-bit version of Windows:
        • regsvr32 jscript.dll
        • regsvr32 vbscript.dll

I received a message that both were successful. I have Windows restrted (reloaded), cleaned from the temporary folder, tried to uninstall-> same problem

I stopped my AV software and tried to uninstall again-> same problem

I deleted the contents of the temp folder and tried to uninstall again-> same problem

I cleaned the registry, rebooted and tried the new uninstall > same problem

I tried to install without uninstalling. I tried various suggestions, including decompression of the file in a folder (vmplayer) on the root of C: and the manual installation using the x 86 msi file. This method failed due to several errors.

      Then...

      (1) how to uninstall version of xxx 3. Player and clean while I have a no clean, vmware player system?

      (2) how to install the Reader 5. XXX without this error dialog box empty.

      Thank you.

      I have a solution!

I deleted all the files associated with VMware Player. In my user files and all (Public) users. Then I deleted all the temporary files used by vmware player.

I ran the installer for vmware player 3.14 (the original installation) and chose 'uninstall '. He crossed uninstall it without any problem or error. After that, he asked to restart the computer I did.

Then I ran the installer for the 5.02 and installed without problem or error. He never asked to restart the computer.

The only thing I noticed was that when I ran VMware Player it took a long time to start (maybe 2-3 minutes). So, I did a reboot and then it was all right, to leave quickly and loading of a virtual machine as fast as before.
