Install W7 64 bits as an upgrade.

I just installed W7 on a disk to upgrade to a new PC.   Now, I know that I should have my OS Vista installed first, then loaded the upgrade that it will not accept the product key.   How to do this?   Can I uninstall W7 and start again or is there another solution?

  • How can I clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit using a upgrade disc?

    Originally, I had a Windows Vista 64 - bit o/s office.

I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit o/s

The first time I ran this 'upgrade', I made the mistake of selecting the option UPGRADE instead of using the CUSTOM option.

For some time since I've done the 'upgrade' I got BSOD problems including caused by video and WebCam drivers.

This is why last week, I took the plunge and decided to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit using my UPGRADE disc (the disc is not FULL version)

    I selected CUSTOM

I saw, I had two partitions:

    Disk 0 Partition 1: Win_RE

    Disk 0 Partition 2: CDrive (c :))

I couldn't find an option to delete my partitions and perform a new installation.

I ran this and finished installing fine but did not format my drive and it change named my windows to windows.old. Things seem to be ok on my PC, now that I've done this, and I don't take BSoD right now.

However, I was told that I should be able to achieve a COMPLETE clean install delete partitions to force the OS to reformat and recreate the C: partition.

    The menu:

    Discount

Load the driver (I have no idea what is this option)

To make changes to partitions, restart Windows from the installation disc

I could not click on an option to delete/reformat my partitions and thus abandoned the process.

I then let the disc (forgive my ignorance) and restarted the PC. I dropped in the BIOS and set to boot from the DVD drive.

This did not do anything to bring up the WINDOWS SETUP option. It would simply start Windows after that, I suspect, he couldn't find the exe file to start.

Thus, while everything seems to work fine, I'm frustrated that I can't run a clean full install like what I'm doing doesn't work.

If someone is able to give me advice on how I can get the installation routine to show this option which would be more useful.

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

    Thanks in advance

    Anish

    Hi, Anish:

Depending on the product specifications on the link below, you can install a 64-bit operating system, but I would recommend that you upgrade the memory of at least 4 GB before installing a 64-bit operating system.

    http://support.HP.com/US-en/document/c03354595=

Your product indicates that you can install up to 8 GB of memory.

I even think that the laptop can handle 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Run the Analyzer memory crucial free to confirm how much memory you can upgrade to.

    Hello

I had similar problems with my laptop 64-bit Windows 7 & iTunes.  Finally, I have iTunes installed 10.5.1.42, thanks to a friend who has downloaded onto a CD using their Apple laptop.

The installation of thin attempts, where the previous CD was working using the direct download did not, despite trying many options, such as turning off the firewall and virus checkers and using another Manager download (Softonic) instead of iTunes.

Downloaded Softonic iTunes 10.4 despite my 10.5 selection, and despite it, saying he was downloading 10.5.  iTunes installed 10.4 successfully, unfortunately I needed 10.5 to update my iPhone OS.

When I saw the 10.5 iTunes download (downloaded via iTunes), using 7 - zip, the message "broken file" appears next to each file in the screen of 7 - zip.  It seems that the problem was with a corrupted download.

Once I installed iTunes 10.5.1.42 from the CD, I went to update my iPhone OS via iTunes and my computer laptop 64 bit of Windows 7, but guess what... download corrupted file iPhone OS.  If the same friend upgraded my iPhone OS using their Apple laptop.  I then synch had the iPhone with my own laptop.

As long as they are the same edition, Yes, you can use the same product key to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7 Professional.

  • Install Win7 64 bit update on the new build machine

Initially, I bought a Dell machine with Win XP installed on it, that was obviously an OEM installation. Later, I bought an update to Win7 (boxed version containing two DVD - 1 x 32 bit and 1 x 64-bit).

I looked at the product key on the System Properties screen and it does not contain the letters OEM, then it means that when I upgraded the operating system he converted it from version OEM to a retail version?

The reason for my question is that I intend to use this system for donor parts and build a new one, but it will contain a different MB, CPU and RAM, which if I understand correctly this is what the OEM versions are related to. Building the new system, I will seek to install the 64-bit version rather than the 32-bit on the current computer.

And just to confirm, the old system definetely will be out of use and therefore discarded. I don't mean to reproduce the number of facilities, any transfer from one machine to the other.

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

Hi Noel, thanks for your response.

I have to admit your backup response I expected in the case, but...

Since my original post, I have been informed of "Universal PID Checker", I used to check my current installation (the one I'm looking for scrap) and he informed me that I have a retail version.

If I will have to just suck it and see?

With a question mark above it, I do not want to splash out on a new license if it is not needed.

You will need to invest in a new full version license, because the machine you build will not have an existing previous license eligible to use the upgrade version.

You can try the following and see if it works:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

You'll need during cratch because there is no way to upgrade a 32 bit OS to a 64-bit version of Windows.

Check your BIOS to make sure that your DVD drive is set as the first boot device, and then save your settings (if a change was required) and get out.

With the 64-bit DVD in the DVD drive, restart the computer.

Choose the "Custom" option and then delete the existing system and Windows partitions, click next to continue the installation,

Since you enabled the OS using the 32-bit product key most likely you need to activate by phone this time.

  • Upgrade to Windows 8 64 bit XP 64 bit error Windows8 Upgrade Assistant

Simple question. Is the ISO downloaded both 32 and 64-bit?  I have Win XP 32 and 64-bit on the same machine, but wish only to install 8 64-bit windows.

I have Win XP 64 bit when I try to run the windows Update Wizard 8 I get an error that stops at all the process with an error "platform is not supported", so I can't run I'm trying to upgrade the operating system.  Please if you do not understand that to reread the question otherwise I'm sorry but do not build your number of answer on my question (yes I'm being nice).  The point is there is no upgrade for win xp, you must do a clean install.  For my part I want to enjoy this upgrade. All I want is an official response. Is the upgrade of $39.95 available for Win Xp 64 bit users?

You do not get an "official response" probably on a peer-to-peer forum.

As much as my number of 'response' - I've been on forums such as these for so long I have and have always said the same thing: none of this issues.  Trying to be nice would be were just stop at "OS I am trying to upgrade", after that, pretty much fail in this attempt, huh?

Google might have gotten you here:
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj203353.aspx

You answered "unofficial" No. you cannot move Windows XP x 64 to Windows 8 because it is not in the path for help because you must have Windows XP with SP3 to upgrade Windows XP x 64 has never exceeded the SP2.  You can spend $69.99 and get the of Windows 8 Pro Upgrade retail media rather - 64-bit.  However, as you have said - it is essentially a CLEAN installation.

Depending on why you use 64-bit in any case, it may not matter that much if you run Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit.  Memory?  Some applications?

  • Unable to install Photoshop 5.02, so no upgrades will be installed

I can not re - install Photoshop.  My original full version is 5.02 and my Windows 7 64 bit says "not compatible", and given that all the versions I have thru CS5 are updated, you might say my Adobe Foundation is not the current building codes.  I tried using cdompatibility XP SP2 for configuration, the exe to 5.02.  No go.  Adobe cat was unassisted as tech was probably in childbirth when I bought V 5.02 and could not understand SN PWW from... "your SN must be 24 characters.  All versions since 5.05 have been updated according to the original [PS7, CS2, CS5].

You don't need to install the full version of the software to install the latest update. All upgrades include the complete program code. Serial number differentiates a full version upgrade.

Just install CS5 upgrade (even if no Adobe software has been installed previously).

Enter the serial number CS5 update when prompted.

The CS5 installer will ask you the serial number of a previous version of qualification. Enter the serial number of a CS2 or CS3 or CS4 - even if the serial numbers are updated, they will always be accepted - and the CS5 Setup will complete the installation.

  • How do you install Acrobat 7 on 64-bit computer, so it gets installed as 32-bit?

Now, I understand the printer driver Acrobat 7 will not install on a 32-bit computer.  I have a new 64 bit Windows 7 computer, but many programs install 32-bit mode and I installed the 32-bit version of Windows at the start.  However, the print module will not install I've read is because the architecture of the computer is 64-bit.  How can I choose to install Acrobat in 32-bit mode so I can use the pdf printer driver?

You can not. And this has nothing to do with the 32 vs 64 bit. The driver model is simply completely different on Windows 7. You must upgrade to Acrobat X and use alternative like GhostScript.
