Install Windows 7 on a different computer.
I have the backup (home edition) with widow7 CD that belongs to my laptop (Acer) of the distroyed. Then I try to install the CD to a desktop PC, but no success. Someone knows why? Could be the laptop manufacturing, established an emergency program, or it's a matter of keyboard layout, or something else?

Just bought an iMac and you want to install Windows 7 from a different computer on it
I just buy an IMac i7and would like to know if I could install my windows 7 Ultimate on it. I have it on my pc and laptop which will be reformatted and given to charity.
If the license is currently in use on another machine, no, you can not use it on the Mac. In addition, in order to install it on your Mac, you need a licence of sale retail full version for Windows 7 Ultimate.

Have a (1995) Peachtree Accounting program 7.0 running on Windows 98. I would like to move to Windows XP on a different computer. It will load and run? Also if I want to install on Windows 7 with XP virtualization. Will it work here? In both cases I can install the program with the original installation disc?
1995 is 6 years prior to Windows XP, which is quite a long time. I would not be able to tell if it will work or not. You could find a computer that is running Windows XP and try to install it there. If it works, then it probably works on Windows XP Mode also.

Can I install Windows Journal on a Mac computer?
Can I install Windows Journal on a Mac computer? I currently use Windows Journal to teach by posting paper documents on a smart board. The administration requires me to switch to a Mac, but I don't want to lose the Journal and its capabilities. I will not need to use a pen on the computer, I use the stylus on the smart board. I would buy the windows software of newspaper and try to download on a Mac. Can I order windows software log?
You have two problems here:
- Programs Windows cannot be installed on a Mac.
- Windows Journal is not available as a separate program.
If the Administration allows it, you can install Windows on a Mac with Mac OS X. Then, there are two ways to access the applications Windows explained here:
http://store.Apple.com/UK/browse/guide/Windows
You can buy a copy of Windows to do this.

My old desktop computer recently died of a motherboard failure. As I understand it, I should be able to install windows 7 from my old computer to the new, but only if I delete the old installation.
Does this mean that I have to format the old HARD drive? Because the old computer HARD drive seems to be alive, I would retrieve the data on a new machine first, before I have to format and I need to install windows on the new computer to get the data from the old HARD drive.
No, it is taken on trust that the old installation is no longer active, there is no mechanism to remove the old license in order to make a valid new. Remove the Windows directory (or rename) makes the old system inoperative.
You find that the automatic authentication fails on new construction and need to call the licensing Center to check that you have only one installation. Apart from the OEM rules if a license has been activated too often, and recently, it fails in a 1 time.

Hello
I want to install Windows 7 on another drive... I checked my system compatibility by Upgrade Advisor. He advised me to do a custom installation. But I want to keep Windows XP with Windows 7. Is it possible to install windows 7 without performing a new installation. This will affect XP.
Thank you
Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows. Please post future questions to 'modernize' a Windows XP to Win7 computer in this forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_install-windows_7
If you install Win7 on another drive or the boot drive, it'll still be a clean install.
