Install Windows 8 (using UEFI)

HELLO EVERYONE

So I bought this new laptop that is (ENVY HP DV7-7210ex)

I found a preinstalled Windows 8 Standard (BY HP)

The first problem is the system was very slow and it freezes a lot. Once a week started showing fails (BLUE SCREEN)

I contacted Microsoft. They told me to update the system. but the same problem appeared.

So I bought a NEW VERSION of Windows 8 PRO, but when I tried to install it using UEFI, he couldn't start the setup and he showed me a message (THE SELECTED BOOT DEVICE failed). So I went to LEGACY BOOT. Windows 8 PRO is installed PERFECTLY. It works like CHARM and Super FAST...

EXCEPT there is a problem that is: windows takes a long time to start.

So I want to find a way to REINSTALL WINDOWS 8 PRO using UEFI

The Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool is designed for the installation of Windows 7, is not for the installation of XP.

I suggest that you use Google that Microsoft does not support what you want to do.

  • Clean install Windows 7 with UEFI in dv6-7215nr

Hi, I would like to do a clean install of my HP dv6-7215nr Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x 64 envy laptop.

To this end, I have 3 questions to solve some installation issues.

    1. What are the steps to clean install Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise intact in UEFI mode?

I tried to install Win 7 after the pre-requisites following:

    (a) not partitioned 200 GB free space on the disk (only 1 physical disk)

    (b) already installed Windows 8 files with UEFI

    (c) UEFI enabled

    (d) heritage disabled startup

    (e) secure boot disabled

When I Boot in UEFI of CD/DVD, I can't switch to the Windows startup screen, it just hangs. What I am doing wrong? Is there any other prerequisites that I don't know?

I tried to install UEFI with Legacy enabled Boot, and I installed win7 but I can't disable Legacy new Boot because Win7 boot and I want only the UEFI Boot and need for inheritance disabled.

    2. where can I download drivers for Windows 7 for my laptop?

    I found this topic:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/HP-envy-DV6-7210ei-downgrade-fr...

    They point to these drivers

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5273735 & task = &

I think I could use these drivers, but I need just in case where. I guess they should work as the product names are roughly similar (with mine).

    3. is it possible to Secure Boot with Windows 7 SP1?

I have no research on this so far.

Thanks for the help that someone in the community can give to me, it is not important all the problems that I have set in I can still do research on questions 2 and 3 and help others with my research if I can do it before a response. Any info you can give me will be too great.

    (1) ' secure Boot' must be DISABLED and 'Legacy Support' must be ENABLED to install Windows 7 and many other older operating systems. The bootable media must support UEFI boot to install on a GPT-partitioned drive.

You let people with DISABILITIES 'Secure Boot' (and 'Legacy Support' ENABLED) once you have installed Windows 7. Changing these options causes Windows 7 to start is no longer.

    (2) the Windows 7 drivers on the CTO Entertainment Notebook PC drivers HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 page you referenced, will work on your computer.

    (3) it is not possible to install or use Windows 7 with "Secure Boot" ACTIVE.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a consumer computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP cannot provide the drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You will need to DISABLE 'Secure Boot' and ENABLE 'Legacy Support' in the 'Configuration of the BIOS start-up secured' on the page parameters below, until you try to install Windows 7.

In addition, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the boot menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive", "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers, please post to the "Hardware ID" Device Manager (just the text string will do) to these devices as shown in the example below.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • HOW DUAL BOOT WINDOWS 8.1 AND WINDOWS 7 USING UEFI

My laptop model is HP PAVILION 15-n205tx

My laptop is installed with Windows 8.1 and I would be like Dual start with Windows 7 using a cd but when I try, there is an error saying that windows cannot be installed in the partitions selected as it is of GPT format.

Please help me dual boot my pc.

    Hello

I recently installed Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 (boot uefi) on a 17 want without any real problems, to verify the following.

    1. your use of a Windows 7 64-bit installation disc.

    2. in the start of installation, make sure that you select the CDROM (UEFI) as a boot device.  Note:  If you see the CDROM option, always turn off the laptop with Windows 7 inserted disc, start it and immediately typing away at f9 to launch the Start Menu and see if the CDROM (UEFI) option is now listed.

Once installed, you can check if your booting from firmware by opening a command prompt, type bcdedit/enum and press on enter – you should see .efi as a suffix for the startup path.

    Hello

Maybe you have an old version of your Windows XP operating system in the Microsoft Windows CD.
I guess you are not able to install the OS, because some updates and SP are missing on the CD.
You should try to include service packs of MS, and then install the operating system.

  • Re-install Windows 7 using recovery media (DVD)

    Laptop: HP-430 Notebook

    OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)

    HARD DRIVE: THE 298 GB

When I bought recently my laptop HP-430, I partitioned new HARD drive using some other third party software. I created an additional partition (M:\). Here's the info, how I've repartitioned...

    C:\ - 100 GB (changed from 284 GB to 100 GB).

D:\ - have not made any changes.

    M:\ - 184 GB (created a drive by myself).

Then after a few days of testing purpose I thought using the Recovery Manager. So I run the Setup and chose the first option (System Restore) who says he will only reformat the drive (C:\) system and will not issue any other HARD disk changes. But to my surprise it deleted/reformatted the HARD full disc, and I lost all my documents, music, photos and all my important files, I recorded/saved on M:\ (that I had created...)

Can someone tell me why the hack happened...?

So now, next point. After that the Recovery Manager has restored the operating system, I repartitioned again, but this time with the Windows disk management tool. But the Windows disk management does not shrink (resize) the C:\(Systemdrive) of less than 150 GB. So I resized C:\ to 150 GB of GB 284 and created a player more (M:\) 147 GB size. And I deleted the recovery disc (D:\), but I created the recovery DVD before you remove the Recoevery of my HARD disk drive.

Now its time for me to reinstall Windows 7 using recovery media, I messed with some system files when installing a theme for Windows 7 and now my OS is completely unstable. So now I want to reinstall windows 7, but I do not understand what option selected in the Recovery Manager (when run from Recovery DVD)

Options displayed in the Recovery Manager

    1 collect using Microsoft Recovery

2 recovery system (the option that I had chosen for the first time and got all the stuff removed)... He said that he only reinstalls the OS and custom make any other change of HARD drive.

    3 minimized Image Recovery

    4. factory Reset.

So now my question to you guys, it's what option do I have selected in the Recovery Manager so that all my saved content and my stuff on M:\ (I created) will not be removed... and the operating system is reinstalled.

    PLIZZZZZ HELPPPPPPPPPPPP...

    Hello

I don't think that all the disk recovery options will keep your partition custom - as far as I know, the only time where you will receive a prompt to keep a custom partition when you use the option "Recovery of Image is reduced to a minimum" to the recovery Partition D that you deleted.

You can try the following workaround.

Download the good Image of disk Windows 7 from the link below: it must be exactly the same version your OEM Setup - that is to say if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to the version, you must download.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

Use the disk that you create to perform the installation - when you get to the option to choose the installation type, choose custom and select the C partition.

When asked, enter the activation key Windows located on the underside of your laptop, then when the installation is complete use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just that a new installation of Windows 7 without software load additional normally bundled with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.

  • Install windows 8 using recovery disk Windows 7

    I have a dell inspiron 15r turbo's (7520) with 8 windows pre installed.

I'm a big fan of Windows 7 rather than Windows 8 so I would completely remove windows 8 and install windows 7 ultimate cost.

My problem is now that in the future if I want to install windows 8 then the recovery disc will help me do? Please help me.

The recovery disk does not contain the operating system. It allows you to access the hard disk recovery partition. If you install another operating system that usually makes the useless recovery partition. You cannot use the recovery disk to install windows 8 after installing another OS... If you have used Dell backup and restore, you may have other options if you chose to copy the recovery partition from the factory to the USB key. Start to the recovery flash drive and see what you can do. You can test out without actually reinstalling anything.

To reinstall windows 8 you probably will have to ask Dell discs:

  • How to install windows 8 using an product key OEM (under construction)

Hello everyone. I bought a computer laptop sony vaio about a year ago and he had 8 integrated windows which clrealy means that the product key is embedded in the motherboard. Now the thing is I want to dual boot with ubuntu and use it alongside windows 8.1 (that I've updated 8) and the ubuntu installation went a little worse. When I went to reinstall I erased by mistake my hard drive and all I was left with was an operating system reinstalled ubuntu.  Now I know that the product key for the windows kernel 8 is in my motherboard, so I want to install windows 8 on it, but it seems that there is no way I can get the iso standard for installation. I tried to use the 'upgrade of windows with a single product key' by Microsoft after the extraction of my key by using a program, but it says my key cannot be used to obtain a version of windows.

Im stuck pretty bad here now, and any help would be appreciated. -There should be a solution because after all I don't have a genuine product key-

As you probably know, most of the machines are supplied with recovery disks more, they just put in another partition on the hard drive.  Sometimes, you can get this in now shift while clicking the option restart from the menu of the power.

Given that, most of the manufacturers have prepared with their own solutions. My computer Vaio from Sony has a button of special pinhole that I had to press with a paper clip to enter into recovery mode.  Other manufacturers have other options, some require a USB thumbdrive to enter recovery, or a CD.

At this point, you probably want to contact your manufacturer to find out which method of recovery they use.  I hate to bring bad news, but they'll probably say "why did not a recovery USB disk? (as if someone creates their own set of disks of repair when they receive a new computer).

Help a friend with a Dell laptop (did not have a problem, but wanted to install a pure one)

passing), Dell sent us a free night FedEx ship from a restore CD. The manufacturer of your can be so nice. I know that Sony was not. If the recovery of my Vaio button didn't work, they wanted $60 for a CD!

Anyway, the manufacturer is your best bet, that now, if you don't have a USB self made for recovery.

  • Hi How can I install windows 8 using an iso image

What should I do to install windows 8 to from an iso image and put it on a flash drive thank you

    Hi Reynardo,

I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:

    1. You try to perform a clean installation or upgrade of Windows?
    2. Which Windows operating system is installed on the computer?

You must download the ISO from Microsoft and you must burn the ISO on DVD or USB to be able to install Windows 8 on your machine. You need an earlier version of the Windows operating system to install Windows 8.

If you have purchased an upgrade key.  Check out the link on how to upgrade from Windows 8 by using the upgrade key: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only.

See also the suggestion provided by Andre Da Costa: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_install/instructions-how-to-create-a-iso-for-windows-81/85ddf565-0b4f-4867-a926-6af73f5eb4e9

You can perform a new installation of Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 using the installation media, such as a DVD or USB flash drive. You need not a previous version of Windows installed on your PC to perform a clean Windows 8.1 installation, but you do it for Windows 8. If your PC does not have a version of Windows already installed, you need to install an earlier version of Windows or buy Windows 8.1 or a System Builder of Windows 8 version from a local retailer if it is available in your country or region.

How to perform a new installation of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/clean-install

Warning: If you format a partition during the installation, all data on the partition will be erased. Be sure to back up data that you want to keep before you begin.

  • How to format and re - install Windows 7 using recovery disks/Partitions?

    Hello..

    My product-

    HP DV4-5109tx

    Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a free space of 78 GBs that I'm not able to use... As when I try to use the "disk management" and right-click on the free space to "format partition" this option has been grayed out... !!

Please suggest if I can use this space without formatting? (I was suggested for formatting)

In addition, due to some other issues too I want to format my Windows (and reinstall) IE drive C so that the free space problem can be solved... Also I don't want no data in my other drives to be formatted...

I have the recovery partition and the recovery disks sent by HP...

Please help me how I can use them to solve my goal...

    Thank you

It's simple, as I suggested in my previous post.

Once you have a drive like the one on the image management window simply click New Simple Volume. Create a new partition called "New Volume". Make a right click on it and the option to format it will appear.  The strips on the 75,38 GB of free space in your image indicates that the selected action will take place on this point in the disk management window. You can change the name for the new volume in Windows Explorer.
