  • Error 'Tuner not installed' in Media Center

I have Windows XP Media Center version and had no problem to watch and record TV live until a few weeks ago. All of a sudden, I get an error "tuner not installed." I did a system restore to a date where the tuner works and it has failed. Any ideas for me on how to get my tuner to work again? I saw a bunch of other questions like this on the web... but the technical details of it go above my head. Not sure if someone got a good solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Update your tv tuner card driver. Make sure that the video decoder works.

Visit the manufacturer's Web site to download and install the latest driver TV Tuner compatible TV Tuner. Open Windows Media Center and start installation again to reconfigure it.

  • Since installing Windows 7 laptop overheating & battery dies quickly!

I changed my Windows Vista computer software to Windows 7. Everything works fine, except that my laptop seems like it is running on overdrive. It's the gets really hot on the bottom even though I have a cooler running under it, I tried to use the power saving mode and even decreased the brightness. The battery dies very quickly as well. This event began as soon as I started using Windows 7, I ran PC tests to check my battery and all is well. I use my laptop to listen to music and surf the web. I don't know what else to do, any help?

You could review down the CPU of the computer usage:

Open Save your Power Options and click Change plan settings.  Then click on change advanced settings.  Processor power management, don't try lowering to 50% just to see if it has an effect.  A good can of compressed air and always using the laptop on a flat surface always help also.

I have heard about a problem with the gateways and freezing / overheating which could be fixed with a BIOS update from their site.  What is your model number?

  • Cannot re - install XP Media Center Edition 2005

I have a HP A1440N with a 250 GB HDD (original) I'd like to give to a friend.  I erased the hard drive for security reasons.  Now when I try to reinstall the operating system, during the installation process it is not the hard drive.  more wacky pressing F8, the system hangs at blue screen.   I see the hard drive in the Bios.

The strange thing is that I can reinstall XP Pro SP3 with another OEM disc.    I really want to give this to my friend in the original state of systems. All the tips are greatly appreciated.

  • How to avoid turning off Windows 8 when I install Windows Media Center?

I purchased, downloaded, installed and activated Windows 8 Pro on my laptop. Then I asked for and received the key to Microsoft's free product for the installation of Windows Media Center.  I used the key and installed Windows Media Center.

My laptop restarts automatically after the installation of Windows Media Center, but my Windows 8 Pro has been is no longer enabled. When I tried to use the product key of Windows 8 again to reactivate Windows 8, I got a message saying that this product key had already been used by another computer.

I thought that maybe I had done something wrong, then just to make sure, I repeated the procedure as a whole: I reinstalled and reactivated Windows 8 Pro. I checked under "System" to ensure it has been activated and it was.
Then I used the free Microsoft product key once again to set up Windows Media Center for the second time. When this facility was completed, and the computer restarted, Windows 8 Pro is no longer enabled. And for the second time, when I tried to activate it using the product key Windows 8 Pro, I got a message saying that this key has already been used by another computer.
So my question is: how install and activate Windows 8 Pro and then install Windows Media Center without disabling Windows 8?

I suffer from the same problem you describe and even followed the same steps that you did.  After having my windows disable the first time after installing windows media center, I did the installation 'clear all' and he always gave me the message that my key was in use after installation of Media Center.  One thing I noticed, the last five digits of the key it lists on the page to turn on, show my key of windows instead of my windows media 8 pro key.  It almost seems like my windows media center key is somehow get confused with my windows 8 pro key.

I have the version upgrade of Windows 8 Pro and can not install Media Center.

I signed up for a key that was sent to me and past the initial check whenever I try to install it.

I check the checkbox for the conditions once the key is successfully verified.

I then get the bar of green progression for the verification of updates and after about 30 seconds, I get the error message 'something went wrong '.

    Hello

This is how I solved this problem.
I have notised that a file with the name ehome. has been "created" in the windows folder.
This seems to block the creation of the eHome folder, where the Media Center should install.
Remove the ehome. file, create the eHome directory and try again to install the Media Center.
Worked for me on two different PCs.

  • Media Center for Windows 7 Service Pack 1

    Hi people read this,

I would like to help you on how to install the windows once Media Center more on my laptop. I recently had to re - install EVERYTHING on my laptop, including the pilots, and it was such a hassle. I had essentially to wipe it clean due to the negligence of the "technician" at my school who have deleted my recovery partition. While my computer was at full capacity, windows media center, I had and it was great, and now I would like to know how I can re - install it and basically just find the link where I can download it. One last thing, I'm running on a 64 bit OS.

    Hi Angel!

Windows Media Center is included in Windows 7 (NOT available in editions of Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic Edition ).

To activate it please open Control Panel and select programs and features.
On the left pane, click turn Windows features on or off.
Scroll to the multimedia functions and expand the folder. Then check Windows Media Center, and then click ok.

You can also take a look at these links: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101384-windows-media-center-enable-disable.html

  • Download Windows Media Center in Windows XP Home Edition?

I want to download Windows Media Center in Windows XP Home Edition. I can do or do I have to install Windows XP Media Center Edition? If I install XP Media Center Edition can just move from Windows XP Home Edition?
    Thank you!
    David

There is no such thing as a download of MCE to XP Pro or home.

You may be able to find an upgrade, if you search the Web.

Operating system upgrades are not a good way to go, always better to have the full version.

Since MCE is an older version, you can find now a lot cheaper than it used to be.

    (Moved to programs)

I went on the 'greenbutton' forum as suggested and was able to watch TV on Media Center remote for Time Warner box.

The volume, for some reason, is not very strong and I am unable to use the guide in Media Center.

I had to go through the configuration of 'antenna' of MC to accomplish this and not "cable."

    Thanks for the help.

  • After recharging, have more Media Center

Original title: units media center problems in windows XP.

I have a multimedia computer with XP installed with media center included. My OS has become corrupted, and I had to reload the OS. Unfortunately, the CD I have doesn't have a Media Center on this issue. Thanks to many headaches and pain, I have the computer and running upward, all the necessary drivers are installed, but I do not have Media Center.

How can I get? I have the original product code for Windows XP my computer is came up with, but no media came with it.

Usually, when you do not get the CD of the OS with the computer it's because the manufacturer installs a recovery hard disk partition. Because the code is not eligible get a CD. If you do not have this partition or CD and you really want Media Center, you will need to buy it. You can check if you have a partition recovery here: Control Panel, administrative tools, double-click computer management, click Disk Management.

  • Media Center TV error: not detected IR receiver.

I plugged properly the IR cable (and the "pouf"), but I can't turn my TV through Media Center.  I keep getting the error message: IR hardware not detected.     It worked fine until I had to have a new hard drive installed, with media Center - the XP version - need to be resettled.

    • ... My fact computer receive TV (via S-video) signal.
    • And I am convinced that I have the IR cable is connected directly over signage to distance from the box by satellite.
    • My IR equipment was purchased with my computer, via the gateway.  The IR has a name brand on the back, called "SMK".
I honestly don't care even if the remote control work-I just want to be able to watch (and record) the TV via my computer.   - But I can't complete the configuration of the TV, it me stops with this error message every time.
    Help someone?  Please?

Thanks for the ideas.  In the meantime, I found a way around, by attaching listeners both ports the pouf - and through various tests, I managed to fool my computer allowing me to configure the TV manually, at least partially.  It is not completely functional - that I can't control my receiver via my computer... but I never able to do this, even if my computer has been directly from the factory.  (and Yes, I have the little 'eye' attached directly above 'eye' on my receiver).  ... At this point, I was kinda afraid to throw my current settings.  But I'll keep your suggestions in case I have have other difficulties or be too frustrated with my set-up.

    Thanks much for the thoughts!

    original title: Hi Please help

I am trying to install windows media Center on my laptop but carnt find any where to go. all I want to do is use with my xbox any help guys, thanks

    Hi, Matt.
You can't 'install' Media Center - either you have it, or you don't have.
Media Center is included in all versions of Windows 7 Home Premium on-site (except for certain markets (Europe and the Korea come to mind), where it is not included by default (but there is a pack for this.))
If you have the Starter or Home Basic, you must make an Express upgrade to Home Premium (or higher).
